POTW: Time Saver Plastic Cover

2 years ago, I wrote this: (titled: I Hate PLASTICS!!!!)

Don’t tell me you don’t.. because I won’t believe you. I really really hate plastic. It can always break my day. It can ruin my life and it brings out the the worst in me. Whenever I encounter plastic, I curse, I think of how stupid I can be.. I blame myself for letting plastic ruin my day. I blame myself for allowing everything.. I blame myself for not listening to my instinct..

Does it ever happened to you? When you are in doubt and yet you go on. Your instinct telling you otherwise but you just go on. And then.. you realized, your efforts are turned into waste.. You just realized that whatever you do, you just can’t fit in everything? And then you blame yourself.. why does it have to happen to you when in fact you could have done something to prevent it.. why you?

After that article, it was never the same, I learned from mistake.. that one meter of plastic cover can over 8 books..

But this year was different, specially when I saw this:

How can I resist the TIME SAVER, time saving, zero waste description?!? It was so darn hard! Not to mention that these plastic covers are cut specially for books.. so I just bought 4.. that’s 29 PhP per roll (not bad huh, considering one meter of plastic cover is at 25 hP)

The verdict?

As you can see in the photo, it’s a bit big to cover a book.. well that’s for someone who only allow an inch extra when covering books, if you’re on the generous side, the size is perfect.

A roll is 5 meters by 13.5 inches and it can cover 10 books, for regular sized notebooks, it can cover 20. Comparing it to a one meter roll of plastic cover that can cover 8 books (at 25 PhP), obviously the Time Saver plastic cover is much better at 29 PhP and can cover 10 books. Not to mention that, the Time Saver being pre cut that way takes the hassle of bringing home a long roll of plastic cover that might bend along the way. And of course the fact that cutting time was lessen.. talk about saving!

Oh I wish I had known about this product a few weeks ago.. mas maaga ko sana na share sa inyo..

anyways for those not done with covering the books yet, I highly recommend this product.

We bought it at National Bookstore.

———————————-UPDATE! UPDATE!———————————-

(June 2014)

2 years after I wrote this.. I discovered that Time Saver Plastic Cover now has 3 variants:

  • plastic cover for notebooks (writing, composition, spiral notebook)
  • plastic cover for college notebooks
  • plastic cover for books

at nagmahal na din sya!!! from 29Php, ang cover for books e 42.75 na siya! Siguro nagmahal din ang plastic cover no?

But I am still going to use this brand.. mga inay!! 30+ books at 30+notebooks and kailangan ko i cover this year!!! aruguy!!

The Mommy Bloggers On K-12 Program And Toddler Learning

A busy week! Tomorrow will be the start of School Year 2012-2013 to most moms and students.. some schools, specially public schools already started with the school year last June 4. I heard that this school year, the K-12 program will be implemented. Hmm.. Have you heard about that program? Is it something that we all should worry or something that we should understand first? And why is there a need for such change on our current education system? What is wrong with our current education program?

The adoption of the program is in response to the need to improve the competitiveness of our country’s graduates as the ten-year basic education cycle is seen as inadequate for work and higher education. In fact, overseas Filipino workers are not automatically recognized as professionals in other countries that view the ten-year education program as insufficient. The Philippines is the only country in Asia and is one of only three countries in the world with a ten-year basic education cycle.

Read more about K-12 program, its benefits and the changes it would bring to the current curriculum by visiting the article I wrote last week: What You Should Know About K-12 Program

For those who are not concern on the said program because you think your kid/s are still too young to be in school, Mommy Jem provided us with a very helpful article on Three-year-old Toddler Learning and what you can expect from a three year old:

During this stage, he can now feel a range of emotions such as love, dependency, anger, frustration, rebellion and fear. That is why it is very important for parents to be more loving and caring with their child.

You really can count on mommy bloggers to help you understanding things and give helpful and practical advice!

The Mommy Bloggers on Sore Eyes and Grade Improvement

Perfect timing as sore eyes is one of the most dreaded disease during summer season and though summer is almost over (or officially over), with the climate change we’re experiencing, you may never know when sore eyes will attack. Mommy Levy provided us with a very detailed and informative article about sore eyes, sore eyes prevention and sore eyes treatment.

I have read that applying warm compresses to your eyes for 5-10 minutes three times a day can relieve discomfort.  But I think the best thing to treat sore eyes is to ask for medical advise, which I will do tomorrow if my son’s eyes will still be swollen.

I agree with Mommy Levy that the best treatment for sore eyes is to ask for medical advice. This is one thing that we all should remember, answers are just a click away (use search engine) but nothing beats a real doctor. I suggest that if you feel there is something wrong with your health or your family’s health, read about it, use Google or other search engine and take notes then go to a doctor so you would know what to ask and you can easily follow the doctor’s advice.

As summer says goodbye, we all know that it means school year is almost near, I hope my article about Helping Your Child/Children Improve Their School Grades will be very helpful as the school year starts:

Establish/develop a study habit. After class, with or without assignments, practice your child to sit and study for at least 30 minutes to an hour until they develop a habit. This will be helpful not only in improving your kid/s school grade but as well as in their future. Developing a study habit for your kid will teach them discipline.

Watch out next week for more updates from Mommy Bloggers like me 🙂
