How To Discipline 7 Year Olds

Posted: 05 Mar 2011 PST
Discipline. That is the hardest thing to do for a parent. It’s hard to know what is right and what is wrong for our kids.. and how it will affect their lives. Now that I have a 7 year old, I am faced with this dilemma.

My 7 year old boy is very responsible, he’s doing good in school and he is a good kuya too.. but there are times that he act up. He would not listen to me and he liked teasing his older brothers. One of the reason why he’s always grounded. And he cries so loud (which makes it harder for me). I wish he was the same sweet boy that listens to my every word. Or that he knew how to read safety signs on our walls. I mean, he does know how to read but he seems to ignore it, like when I want him to keep quiet, I would point on the quiet sign and he wouldn’t stop.

I’d be reading a few books in the coming days and will try to learn more about 7 year olds. I better be prepared.. there are 3 more kids waiting to be 7 year olds!

The Pointed Pencil

My second son went home proud about his writing. I was amazed by his handwriting, even asked him if his teacher wrote it. It was nice and one would think it was written by a higher grade student not a kinder. Later I would ask him to write acne treatments that really work and will take a photo of his handwriting. He told me that the reason why his writing was better that day is his pencil. I sharpened it earlier. He said it was easier to write if the pencil is pointed. That reminds me to sharpen his pencil every morning 🙂

Making Your Kids Taller

Most of the time, people thinks my first born and my second born are twins. I cannot blame because at first look, they do look alike. Aside from that, they have the same height. First born is 1 year and 5 months older than the second boy. For some reason, our second boy grows faster than anyone else in the family. And because of the “twin” misconception to my boys, I tried everything to make my first son taller. He took growth supplements, eat a lot of food rich in calcium but to no avail. I even ask my pediatrician if I can give him growth hormone but he said I should study first the human growth hormone side effects. I guess that the food he eats does not turn into height but rather goes straight to his brain. I mean, when you compare them, first born is brainy while the second born is sporty. That explains it all.
