Children’s Day Celebration in School Essay

Children’s Day is one of the official occasions to demonstrate love and care to the children of the entire world. This holiday appeared after World War 2 under the influence of The United Nations. The 20th of November is the date of the international Children’s Day. The idea of the holiday is based on the attraction of attention to the protection of children’s rights. People should understand that millions of children have to work hard to support their living.

Furthermore, many children are the victims and participants of military conflicts. Millions of children are deprived of their childhood. They have to face the problems of the adult world at an early age. Every country has chosen its own date of Children’s Day. Every country has its peculiar style of celebration. However, there is hardly a country in the world that celebrates this holiday more splendidly than India does. Therefore, the 14th of November is connected with Children’s Day in India. How do they celebrate it? Why is this holiday so important?

Children’s Day in India is mostly connected with the name of the first Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. This personality is known to love and respect children. Nowadays we have got used to the idea that children are the most important members of our society. Years ago, very few people thought in this way. More than fifty years ago, India was quite a poor state with its specific problems and challenges. Without question, children suffered most of all.

Jawaharlal Nehru knew that millions of children lived in poverty and hunger. He could not put up with this fact. It is possible to understand and accept poverty of the grownups but it is difficult to look at the suffering innocent children. Why should little children starve and work hard instead of enjoying themselves and playing with their friends. Millions of children are deprived of education because of their unfavorable financial background. Jawaharlal Nehru emphasized that the future of every country depends on the quality of life of its children.

Without well-educated and happy children it is impossible to build a prosperous state. Thus, the politician decided to improve the social status of children in order to improve the future of India. Weak and poor children will never contribute into the development of strong and rich India. Grownups are responsible for their children. If they give birth to them, they should provide them with the worthy level of life. This position made Jawaharlal Nehru the so-called patron of children in India. In order to commemorate this bright person, Children’s Day became to be celebrated every year on 14th of November. This date is the birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru.

The typical celebration of Children’s Day is concentrated on the improvement of children’s mood. Every school and college is decorated with colorful balloons and ribbons. There is music and festive atmosphere everywhere. The decorations are organized by teachers and students who want to make their educational institution beautiful and affable. This holiday is popular in India because children can have fun and communicate with their mates and teachers in the friendly and informal climate. What is more, schools and colleges are open on Children’s Day inasmuch as teachers and senior students organize various special classes to make children interested in education. Children can read, recite poems, dance, sing, draw or paint. In addition, children can demonstrate their intellectual and analytical skills at quizzes and debates devoted to the relevant social and political problems. Some children can take part in sports competitions and fancy dressing.

As you see, children have a chance to become involved into any activity. This means that grownups begin understanding that all children are different. Some of them enjoy sports.

Others are fond of speech making and hot discussions. Some children are inborn artists who like painting or playing musical instruments. In my opinion, such well-organized Children’s Days help children try their skills in different fields of study. For instance, when one studies the exact sciences, he does not have a chance to take part in any debates about social issues in his everyday life. This informal event can help children and senior students pay attention to the alternative activities and academic disciplines. Finally, we should remember that many children do not have time and money to attend school. Thus, they have a chance to have this experience at least once a year.

In conclusion, Children’s Day is a notable holiday in India because it brings joy and happiness to children. Young people can take part in numerous events related to physical and intellectual activity. They can have fun, communicate with friends and teachers and go to picnics trying delicious lunch and sweets of all kinds. This day connects pleasure and education.
