Step 1: DTI Registration
First, you need to register your business with DTI. Go to bnrs.dti.gov.ph and start your registration. Prepare a valid email address and ₱2,000 for the National registration. You can choose from descriptors like WEB CONTENT PUBLISHING, VLOGGING SERVICES, or even DIGITAL MARKETING SERVICES if you want a broader business scope.
DTI’s official message says it best: “Are you a content creator, vlogger, or social media influencer who wants to legitimize your business? Register now!” If you need help, you can contact the Business Name Registration System Helpdesk at 0917-595-3930 or email BNRSHelpdesk@dti.gov.ph. Once approved, you’ll receive your DTI Certificate of Business Name Registration—your first proof that you’re running a legitimate business.
Step 2: Barangay Certificate
Next, go to your Barangay Hall to get a Barangay Certificate. Bring a valid ID that shows your address. This document confirms your business operates within your barangay. Mabilis lang ‘to—usually you can get it within the same day.
Step 3: BIR Registration
Now, it’s time to register with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). Bring your DTI Certificate, Barangay Certificate, and valid ID, plus ₱30 for the documentation stamp. Fill up the application form needed. Madali lang ito and accomodating naman ang mga nasa BIR, lalo na BIR Estancia Pasig. Submit your documents to your assigned BIR office. Once processed, you’ll receive your BIR Form 2303 or Certificate of Registration. Depends if system is online, if it is, you can get it within (based on my experience, if the system is offline, expect delays. Sa anak ko inabot ng almost 1 week bago nya nakuha.
After that, apply for your Authority to Print (ATP) so you can have your official Sales Invoice printed. If you don’t have a printer in mind, ask the BIR office for recommendations. Printing costs around ₱1,500, and if you want it rushed, add ₱500.
Example timeline: When Mico applied on September 30, he got his BIR 2303 by October 6 and his Sales Invoice by October 20—ready to issue receipts and work legally.
