This is my first time ever joining a journaling event. I am kinda into crafts naman but it is my sister who is the real crafter. Negosyo nga niya is all about crafts. If you haven’t heard, Craftiva Collection is the fastest growing and most sought-after charm maker in Cabanatuan City. So when I heard about Kalayaan at Crafting: Written in Freedom, a 3-day crafting and journaling celebration by The Crafters Marketplace, pinaluwas ko talaga siya!

And as first timer sa ganitong event, sabi ko sa kanya, “We only have 30 minutes to look around ha, since we have other errands pa.” But girl, we ended up spending 3 hours in the venue. We were just looking around and did some stampings, hindi pa full-blown journaling ito ha. The event was open to the public, by the way, with free crafting activities for the whole family. There were different craft suppliers, creative stations, and fun finds around the venue, making it easy for both kids and adults to enjoy the experience.

The event happened at Shangri-La Plaza, East Wing, from June 12 to 14, in celebration of Philippine Independence Day. Ang ganda ng theme nila, Written in Freedom, because it connects crafting and journaling with our stories, heritage, and creativity as Filipinos. Hindi lang siya basta stickers, papers, stamps, and cute anik-anik. May meaning din siya, especially because the event encouraged people to create something personal while celebrating our freedom and identity as a community.

We had the VIP ticket, and ang dami palang perks. It came with crafting materials, unlimited use of the crafting tools provided by The Crafters Marketplace, and use of the crafting area for the whole day. Sulit siya if you really plan to sit down, craft, and take your time. Kami nga na looking around pa lang, naaliw na. What more kung full crafting mode talaga?

One of the things we enjoyed was the free stamping activity from Pappelrotti. Ang saya pala mag-stamp stamp! Very therapeutic siya in fairness. We also got cute sticker labels from Niimbot, and syempre, na-enjoy din namin yung booth nila. Ang dami ring craft suppliers around the venue, so if you are into papers, stickers, journaling materials, accessories, and other cute finds, this kind of event is dangerous. Dangerous sa wallet, but good for the creative soul. Haha.

Syempre, hindi mawawala ang pasalubong! We found these cute clickers for Marius and Ethan, and I knew right away they would love them. Kaya kahit hindi sila kasama, may little something pa rin for them from the event. That is also one of the fun parts of going around craft fairs and creative events. You always find something cute, useful, or unexpected.
Honestly, I did not expect to enjoy it this much. Akala ko quick daan lang, check what’s there, take a few clips, then alis na. But being surrounded by all those creative materials, seeing people make their own pages, and trying some of the activities made me understand why people love journaling and crafting events like this.
For a first-timer, Kalayaan at Crafting: Written in Freedom was such a fun and inspiring experience. It was creative, relaxing, and a nice way to celebrate Independence Day in a different way. Hindi siya yung usual celebration na program lang or display lang. Here, you get to create, explore, and bring home something that feels personal.
