The Suki Planner (Mercury Drug Suki Daybook 2013)

because I am a suki.. I got this from Mercury Drugstore:

It was only recently that I got really serious with this suki card thing. In fact, the past few days, I even buy our toiletries there.. if Mercury has toys or musical equipment  I think I will buy from them too, for the sake of gaining more suki points (but we know we can only buy sonare flute from guitar center). Sometimes I feel like we were not just suki, feeling ko stock holder na kame! What, with the amount I spend at the drugstore for vitamins alone, you’d be surprised! Multivitamins for us as well as Vitamin C, and when kids are sick, the amount is doubled. Kaloka lang mga teh!

But yeah, thank goodness for loyalty programs such as the suki card.. now I have a really nice planner that I can use. The planner is simple and writable.. you know what I mean? It’s not too pretty that you’d end up NOT using it. Yes, like the one from Starbucks, my 2012 planners ends up somewhere in my box of loots. It is so pretty eh, i don’t have the heart to use it!

Another thing I like about the Suki planner is this:

Oh yeah! discounts overload! And discounts for most of the products I use (meron din discount for Aqiva milk! yay!)

You can have your own  Suki planner (Suki Daybook) for 30 suki points and Mercury ball pen for 1 point (maximum of 3 pens a day). I am not sure with the suki planner if we can have more than one. But who needs more than one planner?

I am not into loyalty programs.. I don’t even have an advantage card! pero now, I am a convert hahaha teka nga makatakbo sa SM at makakuha ng advantage card.

California Pizza Kitchen Opens At BGC

A new kitchen opens at Bonifacio Global City, with it’s bright walls with a California- inspired interior, who would miss California Pizza Kitchen at 30th street corner 9th avenue at BGC?

With it’s new interiors comes new great offerings this year:

Anchovy Pizza, a thin crust pizza topped  with crumbled anchovy fillets, sliced fresh tomato, garlic and fresh Mozzarella with Neapolitan sauce. As you can see in the photo above, the pizza was served with lemons, because you need a squeeze of that to balance out the saltiness in the anchovies. It was really salty without the lemon but a few squeeze and it is good to go. If you’re not a lemon fan, try ordering Anchovy Pizza with Asparagus & Spinach Spaghettini, it’s a perfect match.

California Pizza Kitchen also introduced calzones such as the Italian Sausage and Pepperoni. It has mozzarella and marinara sauce, served with roasted garlic bulb. I tell you, this is a must try and don’t forget to use the roasted garlic, it adds a sweet taste to the calzone.

Their sandwich offerings now includes CPK’s own Cheese Steak Sandwich:

CPK’s own Cheese Steak Sandwich uses USDA tender steak strips sauteed with button mushrooms, yellow onions, Mozarella and Queso Quesadilla Cheese. I;m sure my beef junky husband will love this sandwich.

As for desserts, CPK features, Caramel Banana Tart and Caramel Hazelnut Cake, we had Caramel Hazelnut Cake and Mango cake during the media launch:

Both desserts are tasteful and a must try.

CPK is also launching the Holiday Party Meal. Mix and match your pizza (pepperoni, Hawaiian, five cheese and fresh tomato) with family sized pastas (Spaghettini Vongole, Tomato Basil Spaghettini or Spaghettini Bolognese) for only P995. This also comes with a free carrot cake and Coke 1.5 L. I must say that this meal is perfect even for brainstorming meetings. The Holiday Party Meal is available until January 6, 2013 and is valid for take out and delivery orders only.

Anti-ageing secrets: The most unusual procedures around

A guest post on beauty and anti aging from Isabella Franklin

How far would you go for a youthful complexion? There are many products, techniques and treatments designed to eradicate the signs of ageing – but are some a little too radical?

Here are five of the most usual unusual beauty secrets around:

Leech therapy
Believe it or not, leeches have been used for many years to fight blood clots and improve circulation post-surgery. They secrete a natural anticoagulant which stops the wound from becoming inflamed and are thought to rejuvenate the body and soul. During a 2008 appearance of the Late Show, actress Demi Moore told David Letterman “I’m feeling very detoxified right now” following leach therapy.

Bird-poo facial
Yes, that’s right; bird poo is the latest Hollywood craze. The rich and famous are rushing to their nearest salon to have nightingale faeces spread across their face – but does it really work? Well, apparently, this kind of excrement is packed with nourishing enzymes that cleanse the face. Tom Cruise and Victoria Beckham swear by it (apparently) – but would you give it a go?

Vampire facelifts
The vampire facelift is a new cosmetic procedure which involves your own blood being injected into your face. During the procedures, a sample of blood is taken and the plasma is separated from the red blood cells. This yellowy fluid is then blended with a fibrin mixture, which is injected into saggy or deflated areas. Most dermal fillers are made from Restylane or Juvederm, but this doesn’t seem to be adequate for some.

Venom eye cream
Venom seems to be the key ingredient in many beauty products these days. Everything from facemasks to eye cream contains this deadly poison which is thought to take control of muscle response and reduce lines and wrinkles. The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly had a bee venom facial before her wedding to Prince William and Debra Messing’s rumoured to use snake venom.

Vitamin drips
Most of us rely on fruit and veg to keep healthy, but some celebs turn to intravenous vitamin drips. According to his unofficial biography – Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell – the music mogul has magnesium, B vitamins and pure vitamin C pumped into his bloodstream. The drip’s designed to keep him healthy and is believed to keep him looking young.

Some people would do anything to look good, but would you give any of these beauty tips a try?
