In celebration of International Children’s Day, the joint programme entitled MDG-F 2030, “Ensuring Food Security and Nutrition for Children 0-24 Months Old of the Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund (MDG-F) is holding a four-day photo exhibit in partnership with SM Cares, LATCH Inc., Breastfeeding Patrol of Mandaluyong City , and the School of Design and Arts of De La Salle-College of St. Benilde.

Entitled “Spotted: Mommy, Mama, Inay and Me”, the photo exhibit showcases mothers breastfeeding their children in various locations and situations, demonstrating that breastfeeding is part of everyday life. The exhibit aims to communicate the idea that a mother can breastfeed her child anywhere and anytime, and highlights the supportive environment moms need to help ensure that their children receive proper nutrition. It presents breastfeeding as a natural, normative, positive and healthy part of everyday life at home, in the community, and in the workplace.

The exhibit will be held November 23–26, 2010 at the second floor Pavilion, Entertainment Mall, SM Mall of Asia.

Corned Beef And Shrimp

“WOW! CORNED BEEF!”, exclaimed my 5 year old boy. You can see the delight in his face, oh well, his excitement is obvious in his tone. Corned beef is his favorite meal. If I want him to wake up, I just cook corned beef. The smell of it is very appetizing to him and the redness of the meal is very appealing to him. He liked it on egg, as omelet. He liked it with onions and he even like it on bread. Mico, my second born child is a corned beef kid.

Kayil , my first born son, likes shrimp. He can do shrimp everyday. I am just glad that my seafoods intolerance was not passed down to him. He loves shrimp in sinigang, saute with garlic and chili or plain buttered shrimp. He got it from his dad who’s stable food is seafoods and beef. Other than shrimp he also like crab. And again, I am glad that he does not share the same food intolerance with me.

Corned beef and shrimp, what a great combination (that’s sarcasm there). And both are not cheap, I tell you. Mico only likes one brand of corned beef (yep the most expensive local brand) and we also like it as much (that’s triple the cost). Shrimp can cost 500 PhP or more per kilograms and Kayil can finish 1/4 kg in one sitting. And if I want them to eat a lot of rice everyday, this is what I should prepare everyday. That is not budget friendly.

Finances aside, I don’t think these foods are providing enough nutrients for my kids. Can you just imagine, corned beef and shrimp. Both may have some nutrients, but I know it’s not just enough. In fact,my first born son is on the lower line in terms of height and weight. I think we need to focus more on his calorie intakes and calcium intake.

How about you mommies? What are the favorite meals of your kids?

The Space Saver Computer

How many computers we own? We have two but three are being used in the house. We have a desktop (which is now gathering dust) and my small laptop. The other one is not ours but a unit my husband uses, issued by the company he is working for. I love my laptop because I can bring it anywhere. I can do my work at the dinning table and when the kids want to sleep in the bedroom, I can just ask my helper to bring it up. I cannot deny the fact though that I misses the power the desktop brings. Big screen, big memory, core duo, and as my husband puts it, having multiple tabs and still in good fast working condition. Maybe an all in one computer like www.dell.co.uk/all-in-one will give me the satisfaction I am looking for. So aside from it having the power of a real desktop, it can save a lot of space here in the house. You can just imagine how clutter we are right now. We are using two tables. One for the desktop and of course one for me (yes aside from the dinning table that I always use). The other one, I use when I am writing. With this all in one computer we can ditch the other table and who knows we can now have a space for a Christmas Tree. Further information can be found here about the All-in-One desktop. I’m sure you are curious as I am. And if you want to see how it functions, you can watch the youtube Video and see for yourself. Just so yuo know, aside from this saving you a lot of space, this also has an optional multi-touch display technology. And yes, through an HDMI port, you can play here Final Fantasy games (my ids can’t stop playing this).
