Solid Wood Furniture in Sta Rosa- Tagaytay Road

Buying made to order solid wood furniture is overwhelming pala. Nakakatuwa na in a way nakakakaba. Yan ung na feel ko when we bought some solid wod furniture along Sta Rosa- Tagaytay Road.

This is SOLID WOOD.. maybe not as hard as narra or molave but these are real wood and not compressed ones.

Mas lamang syempre ang excitement. This is it na talaga! Magkakabahay na kame for real!

Before our buying “spree” picnic muna sa Picnic Grove becuase Sati likes it that way, pero sa totoo lang, tipid mode lang sa almusal kaya pumayag ako (although my intestines are asking for Antonio’s! haha)

OK pala sa Picnic Grove no… last time kase we were there, parang ang gulo gulo..puro lamesa lang ang nakita ko noon at sobrang hangin. In fair, there is really a place for pegs like that. The grass area is located near the souvenir shops. Medyo challening bumababa sa picnic area and maineet so better be there before 8 AM!

We enjoyed our picnic naman and the kids had fun rolling down the slopes and blowing bubbles (tipid tip: magbaon kayo ng sariling bubbles nyo, OK naman bumili sa mga tindero pero sayang pera.. yung mga tinda nila mura nga pero madali din masira).

Picnic Grove Tagaytay entrance fee is 50 Pesos and Parking is 30 Pesos.. for cottages, rent ranges from 150 to 300 PhP. By the way, the comfort room is OK ha.. not sparkling clean but usable.

Quick stop at Antonio’s (ensaymada!!!) after our picnic then off to the wood furniture stores along Sta Rosa- Tagaytay Road. A few weeks ago nag canvass na kame dito and found only one store that offers upholstered headboard, so dun na muna kame dumiretso sa kanila. Pero sa totoo lang, gusto ko pa rin talaga mag ikot ikot muna at magtanong tanong before deciding kaso Celyn of ABJ Wood Carvings and Antiques is very accommodating. And not only that, she really knows a lot about wood furniture.

Off limits sa camera ang loob ng shop (photo from outside lang yan, marami pa sa loob) nila so I can’t really show you their works but it’s really good. Maganda ang finish nila and designs. Since she really knows about their business hindi ako nahirapan i discuss sa kanya yung mga gusto ko at limitations ko.

Types of Wood Used In Furniture

But Celyn said Gmelina is better than Mahogany in terms of treatment. Ang Mahagonay daw nag bubukbok kahit i treat unlike Gmelina. Other woods used in making solid wood furniture aside from Mahaogany and Gmelina  are Acacia, Tangili, Ipil, Narra and Molave. BJ Wood Carvings and Antiques only offers furniture made from Gmelina, Mahogany and Acacia.

Price of Solid Wood Furniture Along Sta Rosa- Tagaytay Road

Here’s the breakdown of the furniture (using Gmelina) we ordered and their respective prices:

  • Queen size bed with upholstered headboard: 18000 PhP including 2 inch thick upholstery on headboard, leatherette using Uratex foam with diamond design
  • L shape Sofa, 84 inches by 72 inches: 18000 PhP, Japanese inspired design
  • Day Bed with pull out (30 x 72 and 30 x 60): 15000 PhP

ABJ Wood Carvings and Antiques Payment Terms & Delivery

Delivery is usually one week per furniture pero nakiusap kame na sana mas mapaaga pa nila.. susubukan daw since may mga nauna pa na orders sa amin. Down-payment is only 10% of the total amount and the remaining balance can be paid upon delivery of the products.

Delivery fee is around 2000- 3000 but since we bought 3 furniture, they waive the delivery fee.

I will post photos of the finished products as soon as it arrives on our new doorsteps. Hopefully by 2nd week of October.

Real Living’s Complete Guide To Buying And Decorating My First Home Book

still on house and home.. and moving!

I found this treasure while cleaning my stash… treasure talaga.. kase timely di ba, malapit na kame lumipat ng bahay 🙂

The husband almost bought a copy not knowing I have one… eh hindi ko rin natandaan na meron ako nito.

This small and very useful book is divided into 4 categories:

  • Picking The Right Home
  • Renovating Your Home
  • Decorate Like A Pro
  • Your First Home Kit

Of course, my favorite part is Decorate Like A Pro (hindi ko pa afford and Interior Designer mga teh)

I love how each section of the house were presented in different designs, in full color! It gave me an idea how a modern or quirky living room feels. It helped my husband pictured how rustic dinning room looks. It also gave me an idea what kind of kitchen I want. Tips on decorating the bathroom and bedroom are helpful too.

But the most useful part pala of the book is the last part.. Your First Home Kit. It includes checklist and even floor plan samples to help me in my house lay out.

It really is the Complete Guide To Buying And Decorating My First Home! Love how each ideas where presented in vivid colors. And that floor plans and grid are OCD approved kit!

Another thing that is very useful in this book is the Know Your Moving- In Style Test:

Helps me in dealing with my anxieties regarding our move!

Mga Pamahiin Sa Paglipat Ng Bahay

We’ll be moving to our own house soon (kaya mega aral na sa Mga Pamahiin Sa Paglipat Ng Bahay)! Kaunting finish na lang and it’s a new beginning for us! Recent development from our house:

Mga Pamahiin Sa Paglipat Ng Bahay

Lamp posts are up!

And our garden needs TLC na!

But before we can finally move, ang dami ko pang intindihin… I need moving boxes! A few years ago lagi ako nag ba blog (paid post ktnxbye) about moving.. now that we are finally moving.. nganga! I need that big plastic boxes/ container/ storage solution kaso mahalia! Tyaga na lang muna sa mga karton ng yosi and pancit canton for now.

Aside from moving boxes and organizing our stuff (sana pwede bago na lang lahat di ba?), may isa pa akong pinaghuhugutan ng stress… ang Mga Pamahiin Sa Paglipat Ng Bahay in English Superstitious Beliefs On Moving To A New House.

Maaring full moon, new moon o blue moon pa.

  • September 28 (full moon)

So kung may balak kayo lumipat this year at hindi pa kayo ready by September 28, ipag pa next year nyo na lang para swerte.

For 2016, here are the dates na magandang lumipat ng bahay based on moon and numbers ending in 8 or 0:

  • January 10 (new moon)
  • February 8 (new moon) >> etong swerteng swerte to!
  • June 20 (full moon)
  • August 18 is full moon >> isa pang swerte to since August is also number 8
  • October 30 is blue moon or dark moon

But it’s not practical to consider the dates that ends in 8 or 0 at ang moon di ba? Siguro pag lumipat kame, we’ll just consider the moon.

In that case, I will need my best organizing skills.
