Taking Care Of Your Rug

If I have a choice, I would like to have rugs on my living room. Carpet makes any living room look cozy and comfy. But with four kids, a carpet on the living room is not very ideal. I know there companies that specializes on rug cleaning and repair like abc oriental rug cleaning nyc, but rug cleaning is not an ordinary thing here in my country.

I did ask around what I can do if a carpet was stained or damaged and I get a hundred or so advice on what to do. Basically rugs can be clean in different ways. Most of the cleaning methods should be done professional as it needs proper handling of chemicals and equipment. Take for example Hot Water Extraction cleaning method. A hot water is sprayed on the rug with chemicals on it, then it is vacuumed out together with the dirt. There’s also dry cleaning in rugs and specialized cleaning method for oriental rugs and precious rugs.

Aside from cleaning, a rug can also be repaired. It can be done by color overhaul where the rug will look like it was new again. Fringes and Tassels can be repaired too and rugs can also undergo re-weaving if needed. With the many options of rug repairs and rug cleaning, now I am thinking of buying a rug for our living room!

Eco Friendly Products From Droplets Of Nature

I still have a long way to go in terms of being green or living a green and eco-friendly life. I am getting there one by one, from bringing an ecobag every time I shop to lessening our carbon footprints. I am also on the look out for organic products and eco friendly products. And my recent finds are eco friendly products from Droplets of Nature:

Droplets of Nature Eco-friendly dish washing liquid is made from poato/corn surfactants, listed as Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) by the US Food & Drugs Administration (US FDA). The dish washing liquid is loaded with essentials oils, must be the reason why it feels soft to my hands. It smells good too.

Aside from safe ingredients, the dish washing liquid also has kitchenware conditioner making kitchen wares last longer. And not only that, kitchenware dries up easily and the dish washing liquid have shinning effect on the wares. And as I noticed it, the concentration of the dish washing liquid is really thick (part of Droplets of Nature promise to their clients to provide eco-friendly products that have value for one’s money- it is 3 to 5x concentrated than your ordinary dishwashing liquid).

Droplets of Nature Beauty & Bright Line offers two products:

Beauty & Bright Skin Lightening Body Soap and Anti-Aging Serum Bar. The first wash- off serum bar in the market and made from acai berry and moringa extract. I think this soap is perfect for my mom. She love anything Moringa and the anti aging serum will do great on her skin.

Beauty & Bright Skin Lightening Body Soap and Anti-Aging Serum Bar is an all natural soap that effectively lightens and moisturizes the skin, loaded with moringa, acai berry, kojic acid, papaya, lemon extracts and lactic acid.

Beauty & Bright Facial & Body Lightening Moringa Soap has 7 skin lightening and Beautifying Extracts: Moringa (Malunggay), Papaya, Kojic Acid, Camellia Japonica, Candeia Tree Oil, Oxalis Triangularis Oil & Plant-based Lactic Acid. The combination of  three potent extracts Moringa/Malunggay and the Three (3) Power Oils (Camellia, Candeia, Oxalis Triangularis)makes the soap more effective The 3 Power Oils have been clinically proven more effective than Arbutin in skin lightening. I really like the smell of this soap.

Droplets of Nature Hand Sanitizer is very mild and safe for baby’s hands. It is made from plant-based lactic acid (acting as anti- bacterial), fruit-based alcohol and essential oils (acts as natural moisturizer). I never leave home without the hand sanitizer, specially when I’m with the kids.

Plastik Ka Ba? Weeeh Di Nga?!?

I had the chance to watch Cheche Lazaro presents Plastic Ka.

made me realize I should continue posting about my “manong wag mo na i-plastic” adventure to inspire more people to stop using plastic.

Opps. did I say stop using plastic? I take that back.. watching Plastik Ka, I have to agree on some points.. yes we cannot live without plastics.. and I am sharing with you some of the things that I can’t do without plastics:

  • frenemies… eek I was just joking hahaha
  • Milk Tea and float straw.. I don’t use straw on my drinks.. but with Milk Tea and Coke Float, is it really possible? I mean to enjoy the drink without the straw? Isn’t one of the most exciting part of drinking milk tea is the sinkers and how it goes through the straw.. ang saya di ba?
  • Plastic wrapper for books and notebooks.. self explainable.. paki explain sa katabi mo kung di gets.
  • Plastic on supermarket meats.. which I learned from Cheche Lazaro show, I can actually use my containers instead!

I did not include other plastic usage such as hanger, containers etc.. those are plastic made stuff that I really can’t live without..yes we cannot live naman without plastics.. but I think we can minimize the use of it. How?

Here are five ways to minimize the use of plastic without much hassle to your lifestyle:

  • if it is not milk tea or coke float, do not use straw.
  • when buying small medicine, don’t ask for plastic and if they put it in a small plastic, say you’ll just place it inside your bag.. those small plastic bags, it has no use, you can’t even reuse it.
  • avoid the “pakidoble” culture… that is common no? padoble ng plastic at baka mabutas.. as much as one plastic would do, let it be that way.
  • your garbage bin can live without plastic, so don’t make it a habit to line your garbage bag with a plastic. The thing is, because you are doing it, you will have the tendency to commit the “padoble” culture just to have more plastic that you can use to line your garbage bag.. gets?
  • when buying at convenience stores.. specially if you’re just buying a mineral water or a pack of something, that an do without using a plastic bag..

It’s not easy..as I have mentioned before, inconvenience is the price I have to pay to help save Mother Earth. It’s very inconvenient to bring your own ecobag, to bring your own container when shopping for meat and wet goods.. it’s not easy but inconvenience is a very small price.

I do agree, on the point that, plastic banning is not the ultimate solution, it was pointed out that other trash such as wood, old clothes have the tendency to sink at the bottom of the river.. and that only plastics are seen as the waste that clogs the river… making the metro more susceptible to flooding.. it’s all about waste management still and education. It was amazing what Villar Foundation has done to clean up their river and how they manage waste in their area..I hope this kind of waste management can be done in all parts of the metro (if only LGU will unite.. OK that’s another thing..)

Of course, waste management aside, minimal plastic use will be a great help…

How about paper bag? as one of the guest in Cheche Lazaro presents said, “basura pa din yon”….indeed..
