When I was a kid, my grandmother taught me how to recycle things and make diy gadgets. She taught me how to make useful things from plastic bottles and empty cartons. She never fails to tell me the importance of creating something useful from waste. It can save you a lot of money and can even challenge you creativeness. One of my favorite do it yourself gadget that I learned was creating a basket from phone directory pages or newspaper(like the photo below). It was really fun and easy to create.

I also want to learn how to make complicated gadgets from trash. I saw a house once that is made out of trash. Inside the house, decorations were made out of glass bottles. The furniture inside the house were also made out of plastic containers and even corks from wines! I was s amazed with the owner’s creativity.

Now that I have kids , I have thinking of ways to teach them how to recycle. Although it is too early to teach them artistic do it yourself gadgets, we’re taking it one step at a time. For now, they knew they can use cartons as pencil holder, and that’s a good start right?
