Willie Revillame and His Remarks

Last Monday, ABS CBN had a coverage of the transfer of the Cory Aquino’s remains from La Salle Greenhills to Manila Cathedral. It was cut short to give way to Willie Revillame’s noon time show Wowowee. During the Wowowee show, there was a vidoe insert that shows the funeral march. In his own words Willie says:

“Di po maganda. Nagsasaya kami dito habang nagluluksa ang sambayanang Pilipino. ’Di ko magagampanan ang pagpapatawa habang ipinapakita ang libing ng dating presidente” source

The remarks made Willie contorversial again. A lot of furious and not so good remarks floats around the blog world, twitter world and face book world. As in almost every kind of world you can imagine. As for me, I have not seen it live as I don’t watch TV (I did not even watch any coverage that involved this past events). My initial reaction was he really is a very insensitive man. Then I think about it more and realized maybe it was not just him. Is Willie Revillame more powerful than ABS CBN? Instead of just inserting the coverage,they could have show it in full view, suspend the Wowowee or re schedule it. Or make it a back to back, Wowowee then coverage, no commercials in between.. Ah.. I get it.. it’s the popularity of Wowowee and the bucks it brings that won.
