History Teaching

Sibika is a subject in most elementary classes. This deals with the history of the country. It is like social studies and culture for kids. And that subject is being taught in Filipino.
I find it really hard to teach him subjects in Filipino language, there are words that is hard to express in Filipino and most words used in their subjects were pure Filipino.. words like mapagkumbaba.. kirot sa puso.. ehh? who’s using those words anyway? I mean in their ordinary day? Of course, I have to try harder and explain him what are the meaning of those. I actually can’t imagine people who is into translation industry, there are words that is really hard to translate into Filipino, take fat burners, how will you say that in Filipino without losing it’s meaning?
It’s hard to explain the concept, when in fact there’s no concept at all. Unlike in Math, you just need to know the theories and you can solve all the problems. In subject like Sibika, the best way to teach them and make them understand the subject is repitition.

My kids are so funny. While we were talking about cars and a possibility of an upgrade to a van, they blurted out, they want a vehicle like the one Ben’s grandpa is driving. They want a car with bed and living room and table and a small kitchen. That’s an RV! and it’s even considered an ordinary vehicle here. I mean, you won’t see any RV travelling here. Much more I doubt if there’s an RV roadside assistance club here. And of course, we don’t have the money to buy that kind of vehicle! But yeah, I’ also dreaming to own something like that.

Another Reason To Love Jollibee

We love JOLLIBEE.

We love Jollibee Spaghetti. We love their palabok. We love their chicken Joy. My husband shared countless morning with breakfast steak and corned beaf. I love their hot choco, I love the fact that their hot choco is served in a real mug, to minimize the use of styro cups. I like the fact that they use real utensils, again to minimize the use of plastic.

Jollibee was also one of the first fast food chain (or the only fast food chain) here in Pasig that follows the city ordinance of no plastics on Friday..

And now here is another reason to love Jollibee more…

Yes Jollibee is now using brown paper bag instead of plastics. I heard there is a new city Ordinance here in Pasig that limits the use of plastic bags on dry goods. I hope someday Pasig City will issue a city ordinance that prohibits the use of plastic bags even on wet goods. It’s possible I tell you. I have been bringing my own bag for months now. And as for wet goods, I bring my own container such as recycled ice cream tub or microwavable wares.
