AQIVA’s Treats for Tots: Healthy food your child will love

When it comes to my kids, I am really lucky that they are not picky eaters. There are times though, that they are fixated on eating certain food like shrimp, corned beef or chicken. I have to trick them just to eat the right food for them such as vegetables. I usually tell them that those were their favorite dishes when they were younger and it is effective so far. The only vegetable that they cannot eat is ampalaya, and I don’t even eat it myself.

Of course even though they are not picky eaters I still want to make sure that they eat as much veggies they can and I am really glad that I have been part of AQIVA’s Treats for Tots: Healthy food your child will love. Chef Carina taught us two dishes that the kids will surely love but is actually a very healthy treat.

We were grouped and all participated in a cook off. Now, these two dishes are not very new to me but the way Chef Carina prepared it, that is something I am not familiar. Two students from FEU Culinary School (Makati, where the event was held) helped us in preparing the dishes (Thank you so much Louise and Ina). We committed a lot of mistakes and put a lot spices so I am quite surprised that our dish won over the other 4 groups.

Rowena and me while preparing (Thanks Ferdie for the photo) Super Healthy Kiddie Spaghetti and Chicken Fingers. The spaghetti was super healthy because it has spinach, broccolo, green peas and carrots on it. It’s actually 70% veggie sauce. The chicken on the other hand was baked. Surprisingly the spaghetti taste good and the chicken is something that my kids will really love. I was able to take home a sample for the kids and as expected the chicken was a hit. The spaghetti didn’t taste as good as it was during the event, somewhat the taste of broccoli surfaced and one can actually know that the sauce is about veggies but the kids loved it nonetheless.

And as the winning team (photo above), we were able to take some goodies from Healthy Options

AQIVA is a nutrient-enriched milk supplement from Wyeth that is designed to fill the nutritional gaps of children 4 years and older. AQIVA contains more than 40 ingredients including 25 essential nutrients and it comes in a great-tasting vanilla flavor.

My memory card has been corrupted and I lost all my photos.. I am really thankful that Rowena of Animetrics allowed me to use her photos.

oh my how I wish my daughter can be tricked just like your little ones, my is not just a picky eater, I really have a big problem regarding on her eating habits, At the age of 3 she didn’t want to eat anything especially regular meals like rice, once she swallowed it, just wait a sec and she will surely throw up 🙁 even explaining her the benefits she will get from eating healthy foods, she didn’t buy it..

Mommy Mylene, you might wanna tell your pediatrician about the unusual habit…i dont want to freak you out, my I have a cousin that had a kid who was acting exactly like that, turned out that the kid had to be operated dahil may buhol daw sa intestines nya..

First time kung marinig ang Aqiva Ms. P. I will suggest this one to my sister since nag hahanap talaga sya ng bagong food alternative na makakatulong sa kanya. Kasi kahit anong gawin nya sobrang picky talaga sa food ng baby nya!! kahit itago ng bonga ang gulay sa loob ng meat, walastik nabubuking parin!!!

    Thanks for the info

my little boy is not just a picky eater, he’s still more on milk and does not want to eat rice. He’ll just pick-out the “taba” portion. There are times I let him go hungry but no avail yet.

I am just wonderin’ if milk supplement like AQIVA should strictly be given to 4y age? ‘coz I wanted to try it.

I’m thankful that my kids aren’t picky eaters and it’s amazing that they eat ampalaya.. 😀 I only started eating ampalaya when I married my husband, when I was a kid, I don’t eat veggies.. 😛 I was kind of a picky eater and strayed away from veggie dishes.. 😛 Now I know better and I do eat veggies now.. 😛

Kakatuwa when my daughter Chakai was only 4, I’d feed her my veggies.. 😛 LOL. I still give her carrots because I cannot eat carrots when it is cooked, I just don’t like it cooked, raw is fine though.. 😛

I want them to eat gulay na hindi nila alam may gulay pala kinakain nila like what you’ve cooked the kiddie spaghetti & chicken fingers(imagine! kids fave spaghetti has veggies in it, so healthy!), but the problem is i don’t know how to cook waaa. Hirap tlga if you have picky eater kids even milk pnipili din. Hope Aqiva tastes good =), para matry ko sa daughters ko.

My child is so “picky-eater”. Ang hirap pakainin ng mga leafy veggies. Minsan pinipilit naman niyang kainin kaya lang isinusuka din niya after. I hope I have a magic wand to make those taste like meat.

my kid is not a picky eater din…actually there are times na kami na ang pumipigil sa pagkain nya kasi masyado na ata syang tumataba…he eats almost everything kahit ampalaya at mga talbos at bulaklak na kasama sa pinakbet!

Will wait for it. I really want to start cooking healthier and better tasting food na before it’s too late and kids become picky eaters. Swerte pa ako now kasi di pa namimili ng food but if I keep giving the same food, pagsasawaan din yun for sure.

Wait ko ha and I’ll grab the recipe din. Can’t wait to find out how your kids, especially Sati, likes it.
