The Kayanihan project was conceptualized when a group of professional communicators marveled at a recent positive development in the country. The project began in February 2013, an advocacy campaign was conceptualized to contribute to the positive momentum. Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines was the among the first who sponsored the project. Together with Campaigns and Grey Group, the Kayanihan Project was born. It was a celebration of the positive gains of the country and a call to all Filipinos to continuously work together to hurdle future problems.
Sabi nga, tama na ang kanya-kanya.. Mag KAYANIHAN NA!
The term Kayanihan comes from Bayanihan, a community spirit that Pinoys are known for and Kaya Natin, an attitude that Pinoys all have. To bring the Kayanihan Project to life, Pinoys were invited to co create a new song in the tune of “Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika”. They were invited to contribute lyrics through answering the question: Paano mo masasabing gumaganda na ang buhay mo ngayon? Receiving close to 1,000 lyrics from different parts of the country and around the world, Mr. Ryan Cayabyab, Itchyworms, and Gloc-9 wrote the lyrics into a song and sung by Ms. Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.
After the lyrics were formed, Pinoys, were once again invited to participate in the project by sending their photos singing the Kayanihan Song. And with the photos and video clips, a music video was created. A music video that features Filipinos from all walks of life, singing together one song: The Kayanihan Song
