6 Steps to Cleaning With a Pressure Washer

Cleaning your outdoor area such as siding, your driveway, a deck, or your car with a garden hose requires a lot of effort and time. To save on time and energy, you can use a pressure washer that is designed to clean surfaces with high water pressure jets. The pressure released removes grime, dust, mold, mud, pollen, dried grass and many other items that dirt your home’s exterior. A pressure washer is effective in clean, but if not used correctly, it has a potential risk of injury and damage. In this article, you will learn how to clean with a pressure washer in six easy steps:

1) Choose the Right Pressure Washer
This cleaning equipment comes in various sizes that serve different purposes. There are light duty machines that are suited for household cleaning and heavy duty for professional cleaning. Pick a light duty one because a heavy-duty washer is too powerful and destructive. You can also choose between a gasoline-powered and electric pressure washer. The electric washer is light. The gas-powered one tends to give out more power. You can learn more from Squiffy Clean. They have credible reviews of the best gas pressure washers one should go for.

2) Know the Pressure Washer Parts
This step is essential if you want to clean on your own. The pressure washer has many parts like a pump, motor, inlet and outlet hose, hose, unloader valve, chemical tank, nozzle, and a spray gun. You can know each part and function by reading the manual provided or asking for guidance from a friend who uses this equipment.

3) Dress Appropriately
The water pressure forces the dirt out, which can hurt you. Therefore, safety is mandatory when using a power washer. Before you start cleaning, make sure you wear safety goggles and cover your body fully. It is crucial to wear closed shoes that have rubber soles to prevent sliding on the wet and slippery surface.

4) Clear the Area
The debris projecting from the wall can damage your items. You should also move all the items in the area you want to clean like potted plants and furniture pieces.

5) Getting the Power Washer Ready
Start by filling the gas washer with gasoline and engine oil; if it is an electric washer connect it to a grounded power outlet. Then attach your garden hose to the washer’s water inlet and turn on the tap. If you are using detergent to clean, you can place some in a bucket of water and use a siphon system to get it to the pressure washer. You will then connect the spray tip to the power washer nozzle.

6) Using the Power Washer
When the washer is finally ready, hold the spray tip two feet away from the target area. You will then aim the nozzle at a 45-degree angle. You can start spraying water by pulling the trigger and move the nozzle side to side to reach all parts. Avoid spraying one part for long since the pressure can cause damage. Once you are done, you can change the water inlet to the detergent bucket the spray the surface too. After a few minutes, connect the hose from the tap, flush the detergent, and rinse the surface from top to bottom.
