Mommy Woes: Knowing When To Stop Being A Helicopter Mom

We’re discussing why I need to hire a tutor for my kids. I told him I need some tasks off my shoulders, specially now that my due date is nearer. I just can’t devote my 100% time teaching them. And he asked, why I need to..

I can’t answer without crying.. so here I am writing why I need to.

I feel kase that when my kids fail, it will come back to me. Every failure will be about me being a bad mother to them. The pressure is there.

Another thing, part of me believes that I could have been a better me if only my mother was there for me all the time. That is why I try all my best to give my kids all that I can provide. I feel the need to give them the best so that they would excel in whatever field they would choose.

I realized right at that moment.. teka, I am not as bad as I thought I was.. teka lang ha.. re align tayo ng paniniwala sa buhay. And I also realized that I had a better life than my husband. Life was not that easy for him them. Living on hand me downs and going to school with damaged shoes (kaya pagdating sa mga anak nya, talagang bigay hilig). And he turned out good! (best for me)

Mukhang tama nga si Daddy.. I need to loosen up. I just need to guide them.. medyo helicopter mom na yata ako with my kids. I just need to be there for them but not be there all the time. This is going to be hard.. but yeah, one of the things that I should instill in them is to be independent.

I just hope I could resist the urge to follow up on their studies when I stopped the tutorials. Haaaay

P.S. I guess that’s one of the usual mistake of moms/parents today no? Mirroring their frustrations on their kids. May mga nanay na pinipilit ang mga anak nila na mag artista dahil pangarap nila sa buhay maging artista. May mga nanay na pinipilit maging honor ang anak kase honor sila nung mga bata sila. May mga nanay na ginagawa ang lahat para sa anak dahil feeling nila napabayaan sila noong bata sila. May mga nanay naman na “pinapabayaan” ang anak nila dahil naging mahigpit ang mga magulang nila sa kanila.

At the end of the day, all moms just want the best for their kids and would do anything in their powers to make it happen… and most of the times, we don’t know when to stop! haha

I’m glad I have my husband who makes things more logical for me.

Basketball Rubber Shoes For Kids- The Playground Marikina

I have been searching where to buy basketball rubber shoes for kids. Nakita ko sa Facebook ang Kidsports Philippines, they say they carry the latest styles from Nike , Adidas, New Balance, Puma, Vans, Converse and Havaianas for the active kids. I am not into the latest styles naman (or maybe my kids are). I just want to buy them a decent and durable rubber shoes that won’t break the bank. The last basketball shoes I bought for them was years ago at hindi pa din sira, maliit na lang sa kanila. It was a Rebook rubber shoes that I bought from the US (less than 3k lang ang isa). Another kiddie rubber shoes brand na nasubukan ko na is New Balance. I bought one from Zalora at matibay din talaga, also got it for less than 3k. For me, 3000 PhP for kids rubebr shoes is fair enough, pag lumagpas pa doon, nyaaay! Mahal na yan for me!

Since Kidsports Philippines carries the latest design, it is expected that the price of the rubber shoes, specially Nike shoes ranges from 5000 PhP to 7000 PhP. Nilunok ko na pride ko, sige na nga.. mababait naman tong mga bata na ito. Pagbigyan na sa hilig sa sapatos. Kaso, when we went to Galleria to look for their branch there, hindi namin makita. Umuwi silang lugi at sawi..part of me was wagi (sssssh hehe).

But of course, the daddy won’t stop hanggat hindi niya nabibilhan ng basketball shoes ang mga anak nya. And he managed to find one store that sells Nike shoes at discounted price! Say hello to The Playground Premium Outlet:

Well, according to my shoe addict brother, luma na daw design kaya medyo mura… eh anong paki ko sa lumang design. I’m after the qualityyyyy and the price!

And yes, I bought that baby Jordan shoes!

Aside from shoes, may mga Nike shirts and jackets din sila. This was screaming at m when we enter the store:

Hindi ko kinaya, binili ko na din! 50% off naman eh!

What I like about the store?

Super duper friendly and accommodating staff! Inabot kame ng halos 2 hours kakapili.. ang gusto ni Kuya yung KD sana, kaso gusto din ni Diko iyon kaya pinagbigyan na niya. Sabi ni kuya Jordan na lang sya. Si Sangko naman may Jordan akong nakita na less than 3k lang (mura!) so kahit medyo malaki eh kinuha ko na din. Tapos si bunso nga (baby #5) binilhan namin ng Jordan din.. eh si Daddy, Jordan din kinuha. Noong nasa counter na, biglang tekaaaaaa! Si Diko, ayaw na ng KD at gusto Jordan na din sya! Halaaaa!

Eh di pili na naman ang mga bagets! ending, si Kuya nakuha din yung KD at si Diko yung Kobe X USA. Gutom na gutom na ako! Mas matagal pa sila mamili ng sapatos kesa sa amin ni Sati. Buti na lang, may katabing resto ang The Playground.

Pregnancy Journey: Is It A Boy Or A Girl?

Can I just say, hopefully for the last time, that I am hoping to see two babies for my gender detection ultrasound? I am still not letting go of the other one, it may not seem like it but my heart is still broken.

The ultrasound was not what I hopeD it to be but of course I am happy to see my baby on my tummy.. playing and being the little one I pictured it to be.

So it is a boy or a girl?

Part of me was hoping for a baby girl.. para may kalaro na si Sati at para may gagamit pa ulit ng mga clothes nya na tinago ko. Part of me, uhhm actually I always pictured it to be a baby boy. I just don’t think I can love another baby girl the same way I love Sati. I don’t think I can be fair with them.. si Sati pa rin talaga ang mas magiging matimbang for sure. Even the Mister shares the same sentiments. Sati is our only girl and she is more than enough for us na.

God really knows what we desire and what is right for us.. He gave us Marius!

YES! We’re having another baby boy!!!!

The name Marius does not come from Les Miserables though it is the best musical play ever. if I have to get a name from that musical, I’d go with Ramin.. or maybe Enjolras haha

He’s first name is in honor of Mama Mary. You know how difficult this pregnancy was.. the vanishing twin syndrome, dealing with sadness, dealing with bladder is full but I can’t pee pregnancy problems.. and dealing with sadness again.. and again and again (which I no longer publish because.. uhmm most of it are for private consumption na lang). All those dealings, I call her name to help me get through. There are times that I’d cry quietly and just call her name or recite the rosary. During my bladder ordeal, I felt some contractions. I pray like I have never did before and called on to her… and I promised myself that I will honor Mama Mary by naming my child after her.

Mario is too common di ba.. so Marius it is! I can’t wait to welcome baby Marius on February!

Meanwhile, I’ll be busy shopping for baby clothes and baby stuff (kung kailang ako magkakaroon ng new baby tsaka pa nawala partnership ko with Baby Company and Pampers haha).. I am still contemplating if I should buy a new crib or look for a second hand na lang. Wooden crib at SM, nasa 10k na pala!!! Jusmeeee! Wala pa ang crib bedding dyan ha. Peroooo this is going to be exciting.. it’s been a while since I shopped for baby boy clothes 🙂
