Four Decades of Good Times and Great Memories with Shakey’s

I am not sure if their excitement is brought about by their recognition day or the fact that we’ll be celebrating their achievements at Shakey’s. I think it’s the latter. Look at this kids enjoying their dessert after munching on Pizza, chicken and pasta:

Since they opened their first store 40 years, Shakey’s have become a family restaurant. For us, Shakey’s is one of our to go to restaurant whenever there is a celebration. Actually kahit walang party, basta when the kids asked for Pizza, it definitely a Shakey’s.

Obviously, our fave is Shakey’s Manager’s Choice Pizza and if there’s some extra, we pair it with Chicken n Mojos or Buffalo Wings and Carbonara.

Shakey’s innovative creations and unyielding passion to serve a great dining experience made them the most loved pizza parlor. Remember the 40 Things We Love At Shakey’s? I’m sure you have your Shakey’s story too! Share it with me on the comment section ha 🙂

By the way, Shakey’s just opened 3 new branches!

Shakey’s Aseana Branch
Shakey’s Hemady Branch
Shakey’s Evia Branch

And a new product is now in the oven:

Philly Cheeseteak Pizza! Have you tried this one? I haven’t! That’s why I am really excited for our next Shakey’s trip.

Shakey’s has now opened more than 150 stores in the Philippines. Even though things have evolved in order to keep up with the times, one thing that remains true to this day is their solid commitment to their Guests, which is the main source of their inspiration and will always be the driving force that pushes Shakey’s to greater heights. In 40 colorful years, Shakey’s has indeed built a legacy that has captured the hearts and tastes of many generations and because of this, Shakey’s, through time, will always feel brand new – still the family’s favorite place for celebrations – still the brand that constantly serves Good Times and Great Memories for more years to come.

A Timeless Mother’s Day Celebration With Downy

To be invited by a brand I truly trust for a Mother’s Day celebration is big deal for me. BIG DEAL. Specially knowing that most of my friends will also be attending the said event.

We were reminded, not just once, to wear something chic to fully enjoy the event.. I wore a simple black dress and wore pearls on my neck…the pearls did it! Guji serenaded me:

EDIT>>> here’s the digital copy of my photo… for the first time, ang photogenic ko! Thank you again Downy!

*All photos with the same quality came from the agency.

Well, actually, all moms who attended the event were asked for a few shots (with a little styling and pose tutorial!). Little did we know that these photos will be displayed as Guji Lorenzaga serenaded us with some classic songs. A printed copy was also given to us!

And since my two older boys were with me during the event, I can’t miss the chance to have a photo ops with them:

Of course, a photo ops ala Familia Zaragosa with the Kumare Club..

I had another photo with my two friends but I don’t have a digital copy (I have a digital copy na! LOOK!). Truth of the matter is, if I had more time, I would have had more photos with my mommy blogger friends. As I have mentioned earlier, most of the attendees are my friends.

This Mother’s Day celebration is Downy’s initiative to introduce the newest in Downy Parfum Collection. A combination of playful notes of citrus fruits, scent of flowers and a a trace of musk and sandalwood, Downy Timeless provides a classic scent that mirrors how a mother’s love never goes out of style, said Deirdre de Padua, P&G Communications Manager.

The first time I tried Downy Timeless a week ago , I was moved. The scent it leaves to our clothes evokes a certain feeling of familiarity, of being home, of timeless love. It’s hard to explain, you have to try it to really know what I am talking about. It will make you want to just hug and smell your clothes!

After the event, we got to take home a few P&G products and to my surprise, Olay Regenerist is included on our kit:

It is as if, P&G reads my blog and knows that I am trying to make it up with my mother.. Olay Regenerist is her only bisyo!

Thank you so much P&G for giving us products like Downy and for treating us to an early Mother’s Day Celebration.

My Commitment To My Mother

Motherhood changed me a lot. And one of the most prominent change is that I became more authoritative. “Kapag sinabi ko, sinabi ko at kailangang sundin nyo,” ring a bell?

That’s how I am to my kids, that’s how I build my authority over them. And sometimes it’s hard to shake that authority off. I tend to be “motherlike” even when I talk to my mother. In fact, I was hard on her the past few months. We don’t agree on so many things, specially parenting related and I have to tendency to “correct” her. I realized though, that motherhood does not changed the fact that I am still a daughter, her daughter.

I remember when we were kids, Mother’s Day is like Christmas. It’s a very exciting event for us, we felt like it’s our chance to serve her. I want to remember that feelings. That kind of excitement, that kind of eagerness to please her.

But it’s hard, really hard. I do not know what pleases her anymore? I think most of you can relate on how our moms would always tell, “gagastos ka pa” or “mapapagod ka pa.” Eh we want to spend for them, we want to let them know that we’re still their little daughters who only wants to make them happy.

I realized though, it’s really not what she needs from me, gifts may give smile to her but it is the little things that can really make her happy. So this Mother’s Day, I promised to be more kind her and be her daughter again.

I promise to listen to her, even though she’ll be telling the same stories over and over again. If I have time for other things, I will have time for her stories.

I promise to agree with her, our views may be different but there’s no use arguing with her. She’ll always be my mother and as they say, mother knows best. I will try my very best not to question her authority.

I promise to always assure her that I will always be at her back.

I promise to hug her more and more and tell her how much I love her.

I promise to make her feel important and to make her feel that I still need her even though I already have kids of my own.

—————-

Sometimes I question the need to celebrate Mother’s Day… but I am thankful now for a celebration like this. It made me think, it made me stop and appreciate my mother more.
