Kayanihan: The First Song Create by the Filipino People

The Kayanihan project was conceptualized when a group of professional communicators marveled at a recent positive development in the country. The project began in February 2013, an advocacy campaign was conceptualized to contribute to the positive momentum. Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines was the among the first who sponsored the project. Together with Campaigns and Grey Group, the Kayanihan Project was born. It was a celebration of the positive gains of the country and a call to all Filipinos to continuously work together to hurdle future problems.

Sabi nga, tama na ang kanya-kanya.. Mag KAYANIHAN NA!

The term Kayanihan comes from Bayanihan, a community spirit that Pinoys are known for and Kaya Natin, an attitude that Pinoys all have. To bring the Kayanihan Project to life, Pinoys were invited to co create a new song in the tune of “Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika”. They were invited to contribute lyrics through answering the question: Paano mo masasabing gumaganda na ang buhay mo ngayon? Receiving close to 1,000 lyrics from different parts of the country and around the world, Mr. Ryan Cayabyab, Itchyworms, and Gloc-9 wrote the lyrics into a song and sung by Ms. Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.

After the lyrics were formed, Pinoys, were once again invited to participate in the project by sending their photos singing the Kayanihan Song. And with the photos and video clips, a music video was created. A music video that features Filipinos from all walks of life, singing together one song: The Kayanihan Song

The Kayanihan Project was officially launched last September 20, 2013 at Club Filipino. The launch highlights “Kayanihan” as a non partisan nation building assistance endeavor in partnership with government and other sectors of society.

How To Email Bloggers Mommy Bloggers

CC: around 30+ bloggers (some will reply and you will see their reply because it’s a CC..carbon copy!)

Dear Blogger,

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE!

Attached is the press release of our recent event (which you were not invited) and we want you to post it in your blog as soon as possible. Share your posts to social media sites and have at least 5 real people comment on it.

Thank you.

From,

PR Agency

that’s not an actual email.. maybe a bit exaggerated…but yes some PR Agencies would email bloggers with a tone like that. I am not expert into PR thingy and email etiquette so this post is more on how I feel and how I wish PR Agencies would email me. First things first: NOT ALL PR AGENCIES are like that.. I can mention a few agencies that are super duper nice! There are just few that does not even know the difference of BCC and CC.

CC is fine, specially if it is a memo from a company.. but we bloggers are not under one company. So please try using BCC instead.. personally, I would prefer if you won’t BCC me, I would love to read an email specially for me, even if it is a template email.

PERSONAL. It means addressing me to my name.. not to HI BLOGGER.. HEY BLOGGER. I have a name and I think it is in my blog (displayed on my sidebar and also in my contact page).. I heard a lot of bloggers being offended when a certain email does not address them properly. Sa totoo lang po, kahit pinagkakakitaan namin ang pag ba blog eh personal na bagay po ito sa amin. Professional tone may apply to other bloggers but I tell you, when it comes to mommy bloggers, dapat medyo pa close ang tono.

Please take time to know the blogger’s name and address them properly.. minsan mas OK pa na nagkamali ng pag address sa akin (tipong Hello Mommy Levy>> pero para sa akin ung email) kesa ung hello blogger lang.. obviously nag effort.. hindi nga lang enough LOL

Oh my your kid is so adorable! >>> kahit sinong nanay na makabasa nyan, siguradon matutuwa..so what I am telling? Aside from knowing the blogger’s name, take time to read their recent post, kahit ung nasa homepage lang.. kahit pahapyaw lang and mention it on your email. Big deal yan, kase it means you’re reading the blog and doing your assignment. You can try that approach next time you want to ask a favor from a blogger.

Lastly, when you email a blogger asking for a favor, do not demand.. wag ganun.. not unless paid yan, eh demand all you want.

Baka naman isipin nyo, ang suplada kong blogger.. hindi po no. If I am friends with the PR Agency, I post their Press Release without questions.. walang kyeme (basta may oras ako).. at hindi lang sa isang blog ko, sa lahat ng pwede.

So if it is your first time to email me (or other bloggers, specially mommy bloggers) remember this post and see for yourself how the bloggers will react (at parang awa nyo na, wag CC!)

Now, a question for bloggers: How do you react when a PR Agency emails you asking to post something? May idadagdag pa ba kayo sa mga nabanggit ko sa taas? Dali magkwento na sa comment section! 🙂

Mommy Pehpot and Mommy Levy’s Birthday Project

When I was offered to be one of Pampers mommy bloggers, I was ecstatic.. who wouldn’t be? That’s Pampers, that’s Procter & Gamble, a brand that we trust and actually use, from toiletries, to snacks (we love Pringles!) to Vicks (can’t live without it.. since I was 4!). The fact that they trusted me to carry out their brand message and campaigns is just overwhelming. And I thought the happiness would stop from there.. oh well, obviously I was wrong.. I wouldn’t be blogging about this if I was right LOL

As part of our partnership, Pampers gave me some diapers… I mean a lot of diapers.. like 6 boxes of diapers! And I was like, there is no way that we can use all of it! Sati’s the only one using diapers and she only uses one a day.. one box of diaper can last up to 6 months..ang bongga di ba? I am truly blessed..and so, I thought (and also inspired by Please Be Careful episode) of sharing my blessing to those that needs it the most. I have one shelter in mind that’s could use this much diaper.. and the date, of course my birthday next year. Codename: BIRTHDAY PROJECT

After the Red Ribbon Party Planner event yesterday, I went straight to the shelter to talk to their manager/volunteers.. and the date is set! February 1, 2014! Ayayay!

Grabe, the babies there are so adorable and so playful! I spent a few minutes playing with the kids.. gusto ko sila iuwi lahat!

Our (Levy and me) beneficiary for our Birthday Project is  Grace to be born:

Grace to Be Born Maternity Home and Nursery is the youngest member of the womb to tomb ministry of Bo. It also caters to the youngest beneficiaries. Grace to Be Born was established in 2009 through the generous partnership of Basti and Betty Roxas-Chua who renovated their Pasig building and lent it rent-free to Grace to Be Born. The place serves as a temporary shelter for the unwed mothers and an orphanage for the children born there. With no questions asked, no deposit required for board and lodging, and no social standing asked for, Grace to Be Born has become a haven for the young ones to be born in, and a place where their mothers have a chance for emotional and spiritual rebirth.

Now that I already set the date with them, it’s time to look for sponsors. Of course, I will be maximizing this party/ activity as much as I can.. and contact all the possible sponsors that I know. I want to give all that I can to the shelter. Fatima of Grace to be Born gave me a list of what they need, excluding the sponsors that I will contact, here are the list:

Toiletries for Babies ( I am hoping I can contact Johnson and Johnson for this). If you have contact or know anyone from JnJ, I would greatly appreciate if you will share this page with them.. or introduce me to them so I can send my proposal.

Milk for pregnant (I am also planning to contact Anmum for this one).. I’m still looking for the calling card from Anmum, but if know someone from them, please.. please share this page to them.

Maternity Clothes for mommies (and also a few clothes post maternity so we can give something for them once they graduate from the shelter). This is where you come in my dear readers.. If you have maternity clothes and other clothes that you no longer use, you can donate it 🙂

Milk for babies.. I read from somewhere that Milk companies are not allowed to donate milk (Milk Code.. correct me if I am wrong) and though I have contacts from Milk companies, let’s abide with the Milk Code.. and so I will be asking around for money donations on this one. This is specially for bloggers.. for every $20 (or equivalent in pesos) you donate, I will be putting link on my homepage (and mommy Levy’s blog) from the day you send the donation and will be up until March. I will also be publishing an update once in a while with the list of sponsors. You can contact me here: https://www.facebook.com/mommypehpot for the paypal address or the bank details.

They also need the following:

  • Biscuits (wala akong kilala sa MY San, baka may kilala kayo? hehe)
  • Vinegar
  • Soy Sauce
  • Cooking Oil
  • Brown Sugar
  • Cerelac for Babies

For companies and brands, as a way of gratitude, we will also display your banner on our homepage and will publish a post announcing you as one of our sponsors.

Bloggers who are free that day are welcome to party with us 🙂
