Proper Hand Washing and Proper Tooth Brushing

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you!

one more time!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you!

So who’s birthday is it again? none! hahaha well this is a birthday where instead of blowing a candle, we’re blowing away germs!

In one of their books, in was mentioned that ins hand washing, one should clean the happy birthday song twice, to make sure the hands were cleaned thoroughly. Ever since they learned about that, they been singing the HBD song every time they wash their hands. It was also mentioned when we should wash our hands:

Wash hands before eating and after eating.

Wash hands after handling garbage.

Wash hands after playing.

Wash hands after touching animals.

Wash hands after using the bathroom.

How important is hand washing? It prevents the transfer of germs from one person to another. And by hand washing we can help stop the spread of diseases!

Now, let’s move on to proper brushing of teeth. In a morning show from a local channel, I heard that brushing should be at least 2 minutes. How can we track that two minutes? Use a timer perhaps? err hassle! How about the HBD song? Good idea, don’t you think? Well, the HBD song is about 10-15 seconds.. so a 2 minute brushing should be 12x HBD song.. ay ang dami! hahaha

From the same morning show, the proper brushing technique was also demonstrated:

  1. Brush the outer of surface of your teeth in circular motion.
  2. Brush the inner surface of your teeth in push and pull motion.
  3. Brush the chewing surface of your teeth in push and pull motion.
  4. Brush your tongue.

For a two minute brushing, here is my suggestion:

  1. Brush the outer surface of your teeth singing Happy Birthday (one for front, one for left side and one for right side)
  2. Brush the inner surface of your teeth singing HBD song (twice on the lower surface and twice for the upper)
  3. Brush the chewing surface of your teeth singing the HBD song (one from each: lower right side, upper right side, lower left side, upper left side)
  4. Brush your tongue with one HBD song.

Kinda confusing at first but after sometime, your kids will get used to it.

So what’s the importance of brushing the tongue? This is done so as to remove the bacteria in our tongue that may cause bad breathe.  Aside from tongue brushing, we also use mouthwash to prevent bad breath. We use Swish Mouthwash because it is alcohol free, perfect product for the kids.

Here’s an info from Swish Mouthwash Facebook Page:

SWISH is an ALCOHOL-FREE oral care brand. It has SureFresh that helps fight bad breath, plaque and gingivitis for long-lasting fresh breath. It comes in four refreshing and exciting flavors: Peppermint Fresh, Arctic Chill, Cinnamon Blast, Mangosteen Mint and Icy Choco Mint.

Since it is alcohol-free, it is safe and healthy. Even diabetics, children above 6 years old and even pregnant women can enjoy Swish alcohol-free mouthwash.

Our favorite is Swish Mouthwash in Arctic Chill.

Good Fight Kuya, Good Fight!

Let me just share my happiness over my first born son. He run for treasure last week for their school student council, he lost but the support of his friends and other students are just overwhelming. Three students run for the said position, Grade 5, Grade 6 and him, Grade 4. Today, the results was out and the Grade 6 student won over him for just 4 votes.. Imagine that? only 4 votes! To think that it was a Grade 6 student and he even had more votes than the Grade 5 candidate.. I am just debunking the idea that higher year always win hahaha

It’s a good fight and more than that I am very thankful for the chance given to him. I am pretty sure it’s another plus points to his character and personality. And though he lost, he gained a lot from that experience. I am one happy mom and super proud of my first born. Next year again!

Here’s one of his campaign material during the election:

Treasurer di ba? kaya dapat all about the money! I got the idea from the super awesome Mr G (best friend ko yan si G eh hihi). He was suppose to rap/sing the chorus line of Price Tag (with a few play on the lyrics) “I care about your money! money! money! I care about your money! money! money!” kaso naunahan ng hiya hahaha  (ayan lesson learned din sa kanya, si mommy ang laging tama! woohoo mahat-0, mommy-10 points!)

Another idea I got from my best friend, the awesome Mr G, was how to write a speech for the school treasurer (link).. he asked me to help him write his speech the night before the presentation of the candidates, kumusta naman ang cramming kuya? Kaya si Mr G, awesome na awesome talaga yan! Here’s a summary of what we learned on how to write a speech for the school treasurer:

Treasurer’s responsibility includes handling the finances of the student council. He/ She is responsible for accounting the money and making sure that the money is well spent on projects and other school council expenses. Given that, when writing a speech for a treasurer, one should establish his/ her credentials in order to convince the students that he can perform the said responsibilities.

In writing a speech, one should give an utmost priority to the greetings, common courtesy. Greet the teachers, the staff and of course the students.

Introduce yourself, your grade level, your section as well as your adviser.

Present your credentials and achievement as well as your plans when you win the seat.

Lastly, tell the voters to vote for you: VOTE FOR ME (then your name) and end your speech with a catchy slogan.

My first born, who is running for treasurer, used the slogan: Your Money is safe with Mahat (his second name) and I care about your money. His speech was short, talking about his achievement in the Math department.

I know he enjoyed campaigning and though he was a bit disappointed he did not won, he is happy with the votes he got.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Creamy Chocolate Fountain

When you say smooth and creamy, there’s only one thing that will come to my mind, a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk Bar!

And I’m sure most of you can relate to that smooth and creamy experience while eating a Cadbury Dairy Milk bar. There’s a Cadbury Dairy Milk variant for every cravings you have:

For first timers, Cadbury Dairy Milk recommends Dairy Milk Bar, enjoy smooth and creamy at it’s purest form.. and for those carving for a more exotic and smooth taste, Fruit and Nut flavor is for you. If you want something that’s quirky, try the Roasted Almond variant. And if you’re feeling young and carefree, the newest smooth and creamy Cashew and Cookies is the one for you. This variant is my new favorite..I love how it surprises me with different taste and still maintaining the smooth and creamy texture Cadbury Dairy Milk bar is known for.

If you’re craving for a larger than life smooth and creamy experience, then I suggest you head on to SM Megamall. The Cadbury Dairy Milk Creamy Chocolate Fountain, located at the Events Center, is a visual show of how smooth and creamy a Cabury Dairy Milk bar is. For a minimum purchase of a 30g bar at P25.00, you can play with the Creamy Chocolate Fountain, make it sing, make  it dance and watch the amazing “Chocolate” flow.

And to start this smooth and creamy experience, Cadbury Dairy Milk invited two celebrities to try out the Creamy Chocolate Fountain. Jessie Mendiola and Jake Cuenca were the first one to play the fountain. While, we, mommy bloggers watch in amazement.

Jessie Mendiola
