I mentioned before that one way to prevent siblings rivalry is practice favoritism. OK, before your heads starting shaking no, no, no way, let me finish first. We have favorites among our kids. We have our most favorite first born, most favorite second born, most favorite baby boy (our youngest) and most favorite baby girl. In the end, all of them is our favorite, we just made names to make it more special for them.
Another way to prevent siblings rivalry is to date your kids. Spend an hour or two with each of them. Talking from my experiences, having four kids, a part time job as a blogger and a household to run, there will come a time that my attention to them are not equally divided. Like now, I am giving much attention to the two youngest. My youngest baby, which is the only girl in the family, is still very dependent to me as I am still breastfeeding her. My youngest boy, I am giving more attention so as to prevent him from thinking I love him less. In a way, I am not giving much attention to my older boys. And I know that whatever I do, I just couldn’t do it all. To make up for it, I date them.
We go out, put on their best clothes and spend an hour or two just eating and chatting, if I have my own set of credit cards, we would have end shopping for toys. The best thing about my two older boys, they are inseparable. Instead of dating them one by one, they liked it better if I date them together. So every month, we’re a trio. We go to their favorite restaurants 9which is pizza place most of the time) and eat they’re favorite food.
