Dear Manong Taxi… (On Attending Events Without Payment)

Gusto ko sana sabihin kay Manong.. may bayad mo pa yan.. FRIENDSHIP

But I don’t think he’ll ever understand  how I love attending events without thinking about the monetary value that I would get (not unless from the start, it is  stated as a paid coverage). When I was just starting.. nakaka excite to receive goodies, to the point that I value it more than the event na itself. I judge an event based on the loots I got.. Pero as I grow older as a blogger, I have learned to value relationship over loot bags.

Truth of the matter is, when I attend an event, I spend around 2000 PhP. That’s for taxi fare, pasalubong and my mom’s fare din since lumuluwas siya to look after my kids. Ang mahal mag events di ba? But I do it for fun talaga and for friendship.. to meet friends, to be with friends or to support friends from the agency.

So yes, as you can see, ma friendship akong tao, related story: 3 Reasons Why I Post Press Releases For FREE

Pero I don’t advocate attending events for free ha, always know your worth as a blogger. Dapat lagi kang may gain. Ako kase, I may not gain financially from attending events but I gained relationships and minsan content na rin. And yeah, there is something about getting the first dibs on products you love. And oh! Endless chikas with fellow mommy bloggers! Ang saya di ba?

Daylong #NoVacationFromSunProtection

Summer is over.. kahit pa nag dedeclare ang PAGASA..for us, our summer ends when school starts! Bawal na maglakwatsa eh at no more swimming! But that doesn’t stop us from using sunscreen lotion. And I am so glad that Daylong gave us some of their sun protection lotions for sampling.

It’s imperative that the product shot is with sunlight. hahaha

I used to think that sun protection is only used for swimming.. well not until I had Sati, di ba nga, I started to be “lady-like” and learn a few things about skin protection when I had Sati. I want to be a good model to her when it comes to skin care and body care. And skin care means protecting the skin from UV rays that can really damage or kill our skin cells. Afterall, the sun from the beach is no different naman sa sun here in the city di ba? So why din deprive our skin of that kind of protection?

But they never really like applying sun protection lotions, malagkit daw eh and the strong reminds them of the beach (me too!!) and not to mention too sticky on their skin. Ako din, from the brand we were using before Daylong, tinitiis ko lang ang lagkit. And that’s the reason why we’ll be sticking to Daylong from now on!

Daylong is not sticky and has no strong smell! Love at first dab!

Sati really likes Daylong because of the non sticky feel. Siya na nga mag-isa nag aapply before going out.

Daylong, a dermatological suncare brand, is the first explicitly advocate daily sunscreen application under the campaign #NoVacationFromSunProtection. Daylong conducted a UV-exposure study to investigate whether the outdoor sun at the beach shows the same level of strength in the city – even when indoors. Daylong used sun sensors to track daily UV exposures in Metro Manila for a week. From day to night, the participants’ daily activities were recorded, even when indoors.

The study showed that in Metro Manila, the daily UV Index recorded reaches up to 10 from 12nn to 1pm, which places a ‘Very High’ risk from unprotected sun exposure. Comparing the city’s UV index to Caticlan (Boracay) and El Nido (Palawan), and data showed both summer destinations also reach UV Index 10 during the same hours.

Daylong also found out that despite staying indoors, the women registered UV readings. Whether clear or cloudy weather, UV solar radiation remains strong, and it can penetrate windows. Indoor light sources, even at night, have also been revealed to contribute to UV exposure.

Daylong used the World Health Organization UV Index ranging from 1 to 11, with 11 indicating ‘Extreme’ UV exposure.

“We understand that unprotected sun exposure, indoors or outdoors, causes skin damage down to the cellular level. And this means premature skin aging, DNA damage and worse, skin cancer. It’s not just about sunburn” says Jon Lee, Daylong Brand Manager. “Daylong is a dermatological suncare brand that can help prevent all these because it is clinically proven to protect all the way to the skin’s DNA and cellular level. This is why we began the advocacy of daily sunscreen protection – to ensure that everyone’s skin stays healthy, whether they are in the city or at the beach.”

See what I mean? Sun protection lotion is one of the HG in skin care. And Daylong is a must on your skin care regimen.

Ways To Beat Monday Blues

MONDAY BLUES!

As usual! I noticed how my Monday mornings are usually the least productive. It always feels like I have so many online stuff to do but as soon as I sit in front of my computer, my mind goes blank. This has been going on for months now. Mondays are my lost days.

Just today.. it’s already past lunch and I still haven’t started a thing. I spent the whole morning looking for bedding.. I have a hangover from yesterday’s window shopping at Megamall. Having your own house is hard pala. It’s very challenging, specially when you start to shop for home essentials. Nakakabaliw the choices. And while browsing for bed essentials, my brain started to function. I think of articles I can write that’s home related. I started to list some topics only to realize that it’s not on my to do list for this week.

Ayayay! I always deviate from my to do list! Kahit sampung to do list ang gawin ko, pagdating ng lunes, nabubura lahat!

Anyone, experiencing the same? Got any Monday Blues Beater? SHARE YOUR SECRET!

I found one from Forbes: 11 Ways to Beat the Monday Blues

Out of the 11 ways listed on the article, I’ll be aplpying 5 to beat my Monday Blues:

Make a list of the things you’re excited about

EXCITED. One word that makes my Monday more stressful. I always wake up feeling excited, there’s this overwhelming feeling and too much adrenaline every Monday. The problem with me, I am having a hard time pin pointing where to put that much energy. I end up doing so many things and not finishing a thing. Or sometimes, I put the excitement on the wrong place aka Pinterest and Facebook, so I end up being unproductive.

I think, I can solve this problem by listing the things that I need to do and should be excited about be before Monday comes. Like a pending blog post or a post event write up. I should divide my excitement and make sure that things that needs to be done ASAP are given more excitement dust.

Get enough sleep and wake up early.

I always sleep early on Sunday nights but I always forgot to wake up early on Monday mornings. I better psyche myself into waking up an hour early during Mondays.

Dress for success.

I am still working on the dress up part.. the summer weather is killing me! BUT!! I discovered last week that I work best when I’m wearing make up..not to mention, my selfies with my Zenfone2 is a real confidence booster! Lalo ako gumaganda with Zenfone2’s camera (hindi pa beautification mode iyon ha!)

ALSO! I discovered that I write well when I have curly hair! LOL

Make someone else happy.

I’m usually out of reach during weekends. Weekends are for my husband and our travels. You won’t see me online that much, aside from Instagram where I upload our travel photos. Monday is like my “catching up with friends” time.. sometimes, I spend half the day chatting with my friends! I can’t live without that.. so I will try to limit it by including it on my calendar. Maybe after a blog post or two, I can catch up with my friends for an hour or two.

Be positive.

I used to have a Thankful post series on this blog. I post it every Friday, much like a closing remark for a week well done.. but reading the article on Forbes, made me realized, a gratitude post will be better on Mondays. It will serve as an inspiration and fuel to keep me going and finish my to do list.

Sooo to start this week right, here are some of the things that I am thankful for:

Boys who love Sati as much as I do

——————————————————————————

Product deliveries: bought the ABSCBN TV Plus from Lazada, Remington Pro Spiral Curl from a dear blogger friend and Daylong from my new PR friends.

——————————————————————————

Achieving my dream curly hair with the use of Remington Pro Spiral Curl

——————————————————————————

School shoes shopping at Liliw Laguna.. a pair of black shoe sis only 450 PhP!!! I bought 12 pairs of shoes and only paid PhP5000!

——————————————————————————

Sunday afternoon with high school friends. Old friends are the best! They keep you grounded and makes you feel happy, a certain kind of happiness that only them can induce.

Now I am ready to face my Monday deadlines!

Have you tried listing some ways to beat Monday Blues? Share your blog post in the comment section, I would love to read your entries!
