Let’s Talk About REAL Talk

Most people agree that our friends and family are the most important part of our lives. But the way we interact with our loved ones has changed, thanks to technological advances such as texting, skyping, online messaging and social networking. Even the way we find new people has drastically changed, thanks to advances such as online dating and social media.

It used to be that when you wanted to catch up with a friend, you’d pop round her house or call her on the phone. Nowadays, you’re just as likely to ping her on Facebook or drop her a tweet. But are you really connecting with your friends? Is a smiley face emoticon the same as seeing your smile for real?

Only around 7% of our communication is conveyed by the words we use and the rest is in our body language, facial expressions, and gestures. So it’s clear that we are missing a lot when we rely too heavily on online messaging and neglect the real time communication that everyone enjoys. Hugs, smiles, and just spending time in another person’s company are all fundamental human needs.

On the other hand, texting and messaging can have a positive influence on relationships of all kinds. Many people have met the love of their life online, and when you look at the facts about online dating, it is nowhere near a scary or mysterious concept as it used to be. I am a witness to an online love affair. My high school best friend met her partner through online and it worked really well with them, now they are happily married for 5 years!

Before mobile phones, organising a night out or meal with friends and family was a lot of effort – nowadays, it’s much easier to send a text around or set up a Facebook invite to get everyone together. It’s much more convenient if you want to change plans at the last minute, too.

Keeping in touch is easier too. If your loved ones are far away, you can still keep up with their daily lives through social media, email, messaging, texting and video calls. Staying close with people even when you’re miles apart is a wonderful gift that technology has given us.

Of course, it’s important to keep a balance between time spent online and time spent with your friends in person. As long as you use it wisely, technology can be a way to enhance and deepen your most important relationships and stay close with those you love.

My Sad Princess..

The princess is quite sad today.. somehow, she felt, she was left behind.. Early this morning, we went to their Pedia because Sangko is not feeling well. Pedia was not on her clinic so we decided to bring Sangko to Medical City.. Sati was left at home with my mom.. siguro nalungkot sya talaga ng bongga, 3 of the most important people in her life went out without her.. super sad nya.

As soon as we got back home, she never left my side.. kissing me, hugging me, combing my hair.. akala ko sobrang na miss lang niya ako.. and 4 hours lang kame nawala ha.. pero it’s more than missing her mom pala.. she really is sad.. and that I only realized tonight when she told me this:

Mommy pwede ba baby na lang uit ako? dyan na lang ulit ako sa tyan mo..

Mommy pwede ba, wag ako lumaki, kase pag lumaki katulad sa’yo, hindi na ako pede dumedede.. gusto ko dede lang ako ng dede palagi..

Mommy gusto ko lagi lang kita kasama.. huhuhu Mommy sa tabi ko lang ikaw lagi huhu

yes, may kasamang kumukurot sa pusong iyak yan..

Jusme, may event pa naman ako bukas.. eh what can I do? those statements crushed my heart.. ayayay!

I have to fix her broken heart tomorrow…

Party On A Budget With Red Ribbon’s Birthday Budget Planner

Our first time dormer! my little brother who’s reviewing for board, now lives in an apartment.. this is his first time to live in an apartment…not that he’s a baby but it was his personal choice not to live in a dorm or apartment, basta daw ayaw lang niya.. Reviewing for a board is different, he realized that he needs to be surrounded with as many geeks as possible (you know, formulas being post on the bathroom walls..and the likes) and he can’t review when Sati is around, who knows very well how to catch his attention haha

And we, being the most supportive sisters in the whole wide world, would like to cheer for him on this milestone..so we’re planning a small salo-salo for him.. sisters from the province will brave the talahibs and the bundok to be here this sunday! Hurrah!

BUT! we’re kinda tight on budget..maraming gastos ang Oktubre! remember, it’s my first born’s birthday? and 2 school activities this month..so tipid tipid ang peg.. that’s why I am trying out Red Ribbon’s Birthday Budget Planner and see how my party should go, given the budget that I have..

The Red Ribbon Birthday Budget Planner Microsite (which is accessible via http://birthdaybudgetplanner.com/) helps us create the best party possible without breaking the bank.

redribbon_birthdaybudgetplanner

We will be having our small salo-salo on the 13th with a very minimal budget of 2000 PhP for 10 people (including the kids)

Birthday Budget Planner said our budget allocations should be:

  • Cake: 299 PhP
  • Drinks: 600.50 PhP
  • Food: 1200 PhP

Where to get the food and the drinks? That’s the good thing about the Birthday Budget Planner, trusted suppliers are listed on each allocation.. like for cake:

Red Ribbon branches are listed.. so I opted for the branch nearest us, which is the C5 branch.. The same with the food and drinks:

Since my sisters haven’t tried Amber yet, I think this party is the perfect opportunity to introduce them to Amber.. pichi-pichi.. palabok and bbq! ayayay!

For drinks, Super 8 is nearest to us:

I’m cutting on soda, what drinks can you suggest? Pineapple juice perhaps? or how about Pineapple Orange? Oh well, for sure Super 8 has it all since this is a big supermarket.

Here’s the final details of our party for my little brother:

We’ll be having Red Ribbon Dedication Cake in Chocolate (junior size), that’s the cake with the 299 price tag 🙂 If you’ll be celebrating a simple party in the near future, please do try the Red Ribbon Birthday Budget Planner.

Red Ribbon Dedication cakes also comes in Mocha flavor in 3 sizes (Junior: 250 PhP, Regular: 450Php, Large: 650 PhP), Chocolate flavor also comes in 3 sizes  (Junior: 299 PhP, Regular: 499Php, Large: 690 PhP).

You’ll be hearing a lot of Red Ribbon Birthday Budget Planner from me.. you know I love organizing parties, and this is a big help for a busy person like me! 🙂
