5 Tips to Helping Your Kids Can Enjoy a Good Night’s Sleep

Kids can be mischievous, and it can sometimes be hard to get them to bed at the right time. Some kids struggle with sleeping disorders and others are just naughty and will not immediately go to sleep when they are supposed to. So, you need to devise a way to ensure that they go to sleep on time and have a good night of sleep. The following are tips to help you get your kids to enjoy their sleep at night;

Ensure the sleeping environment is ideal
Creating an ideal sleeping environment for your kids is a no brainer. You want their rooms to promote sleep because that is the easiest way to get them to sleep. First, you need to make sure that their bed is comfortable enough as well as clean and fresh. Look for a mattress that provides better sleep as comfort is key to having good sleep at night. Dim the lights in the bedroom and make sure that there are no electronic gadgets that may keep them up at night.

Create a bedtime routine
Creating a bedtime routine is a great way to teach your children different practices they can associate to getting to bed. Switch off the TV and other electronics ten minutes before the actual bedtime routine. Use this time to relax as it will go a long way to helping you and the kids sleep better at night. The bedtime routine can entail taking a bath just to relax, putting on pajamas, brushing teeth, short bedtime stories then going to bed.

Have a specific sleep and wake time
When you fix a specific time for the kids to go to bed and wake up, then this helps train their internal clock. It will be easier for the kids to sleep well at night if they have a specific time to go to bed as opposed to having an irregular schedule for going to bed. Do your bedtime routine a few minutes to their sleep time and by doing this consistently, the kids will learn it as a part of their daily lives.

Ensure they exercise
One way to get your kids to sleep well at night is to allow them to play and exercise during the day. When the kids are active during the day, then it will be easier for them to sleep and wind down faster at night. Also don’t allow them to play less than 3 hours to bed because they will be too active to go to bed when they are supposed to.

Don’t give them food or drinks before bedtime
One of the worst mistakes you will do is to give your kids a hearty meal or soft drinks right before bedtime. If they have to eat anything before bedtime then give them something light like a healthy snack or even a glass of milk. Eating food before bedtime will make them uncomfortable at night and soft drinks will only stimulate them making them more active. Also, you want to avoid giving them anything with caffeine as it will also keep them active when they are supposed to be sound asleep.

Pampers “Less Palit, More Sulit” Challenge

Paano ang diaper routine nyo sa toddlers nyo? Tinanong ko ang mga momshies sa aking mommy group (if you are not a member yet, mag member ka na!) and majority have the same routine as ours. Diaper sa gabi hanggang umaga. Pagdating ng umaga, wait mag poop (wash thoroughly because bacteria from poop is the leading cause of UTI) then bath time na. Diaper again until mag poop ulit or pag mukhang puno na or lawlaw na ang diaper.

Basically, as most moms shared, diaper change routine is highly influenced by the lawlawness of the diaper. How often is that? Some moms shared that they use 4-6 diapers a day, kase kame we only use 2-4 Pampers a day. There’s less palit with Pampers since Pampers less lawlaw absorbs wetness from front to back!

Have you seen the WOW Diaper Showdown between Toni and Alex Gonzaga video? Dali watch nyo na para makita nyo din sa sarili nyo kung ano talaga ang sulit na diaper.

As for us, with Marius being rowdy all the time, talagang napa pa wow ako sa Pampers. Napapanood nyo naman sa daily vlog namin how active Marius is. Talon dito, takbo dito, sayaw doon, talon dito, talon doon. Alam mo kahit yung simpleng kantang “Paa, Tuhod..” sinasasamahan pa ng jumping jacks. And even with that kind of activeness, ang Pampers hindi basta basta lumalawlaw kaya hindi ako palit ng palit.

To see or better yet, to experience it, is to believe. Try doing the “Less Palit, More Sulit” Challenge from Pampers. This is how we did it. Sa Day 1, we use only ordinary diapers and on Day 2, Pampers na syempre.

Day 1, since sanay sa Pampers si Marius, kaunting lundag lang, hindi na sya comfortable at sya na mismo ang nagsasabi na palitan sya. Sabi nya may sira na daw diaper nya. Sa loob ng maghapon, naka 6 diapers kame.

Day 2 is the same as our usual, pero naka 4 na Pampers kame since madami dami ang poop time nya during Day 2.

With this challenge, kitang kita how much savings we had. Imagine 2 diapers! But what I like most about Pampers is the fact that he can move freely. Walang limitations ang movement niya since he is comfortable all through out. Less lawlaw so more galaw. Tuloy ang “Paa, Tuhod..” with matching jumping sa Pampers.

Masaya gawin tong challenge na to kasi mapapakita mo rin sa ibang moms paano sila makakasulit . Tag nyo ako pag ginawa nyo ha. Mas makakasulit ka pa kase for every purchase of Pampers, worth PHP500 in Waltermart, customer will get one raffle ticket. 15 winners will get 1 year supply of Pampers and 30 winners will get a Jollibee Kid’s Party Package. Period is Feb 1 to Feb 28.

5 Tips to Helping Your Baby Get On A Sleep Schedule

When your baby sleeps, she becomes more tolerant, happier and engaging. This is the time that you can rest.
But it can be much better if the baby sleeps on a schedule. That way, your day’s patterns will be predictable and you can accomplish much more. On the other hand, your baby will know what to expect at any given time. It will also be easier to leave her with a caretaker as you can provide specific instructions on how to care for the baby.
But how do you get your baby to sleep on a schedule? Here are helpful tips.

When to start
There is controversy over the best time to start putting your baby on a sleep schedule. Some experts suggest between 2 and 4 months while others advocate for 5 or 6 months. You will also come across those suggesting you start at birth or at one week.

Whatever you decide, it is important to keep in mind that babies start to develop a natural sleep rhythm and feeding habits at about four months old. When you see your baby get into predictable patterns, encourage him to follow the schedule.

Start small. Begin by planning the morning nap which happens not long after the baby wakes up. The nap may take only 45 minutes when you start. However, don’t assume the nap is over. You can give your infant a few more minutes to fall back asleep after they wake up from the nap.

Create a favorable atmosphere for sleep
Provide the baby with an environment that encourages sleep. Make sure the baby sleeps in a crib where the room is cool, dark and quiet. You can also have a bedtime routine that prepares her to sleep such as singing or changing the diaper.

Mommyhood101 gives you reviews of various products that your baby will need such as diapers, cribs, baby bottles, and others. These will help you to prepare your little one for their sleep schedule.

Keep Track
Your baby is likely to fall into a sleeping and feeding pattern as time goes by. Keep track of when the baby sleeps, wakes up, poops and eats. When you understand the natural rhythm, you can base the sleep schedule on it.
To help you log the daily routine, you can use apps, a computer spreadsheet or a simple pen and paper.

Rely on timing
Your baby’s sleep schedule will be successful if you employ proper timing. Let your 4 to 6 month old baby have a nap in the morning, another in the afternoon and then late afternoon. By the eighth month, the baby can take two longer naps in the morning and afternoon each going for 1 to 1½ hours. Your infant should be asleep by 6pm, wake up by 7 am and take the first nap by 9 am.

Keep going
It may take a while before your baby gets used to the sleep schedule. One day she sleeps just fine and the next she doesn’t. However, don’t give up. Just like any other milestone, you will experience progress and setbacks. Remember, babies are different so don’t compare yours with your neighbor’s.

Note, that in as much as you are following a schedule, the needs of the baby should come first. Just because its sleep time, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t comfort a fussy baby. If you think the baby is hungry, don’t withhold food simply because it is not feeding time or he ate an hour ago. Use your instincts to know what the baby needs.
