Fab Finds Friday: 1 Dozen Hanky For 30 Pesos!

I really love reading blogs with everyday theme.. Wordless Wednesday.. Throwback Thursday and the likes.. I tried it before but it’s not for me. Most of the time, I’d be too busy to even think of a topic that corresponds to the theme of the day.. or that I wouldn’t have a time to blog!

Now, I am trying it again.. but this time I’ll start with just two themes: Fab Finds Friday and Thankful Thursday.. won’t put too much pressure on myself.. let’s see how this will go.

For my first post.. got 4 dozens of Handkerchief for 120 Pesos! Isn’t that a real steal?!? Imagine a dozen hanky for 30 pesos only! The hanky size (estimate) is 10 by 10 inches..

They have different designs and there’s Hello Kitty too.. and though the quality of the fiber is not thick, this is a good find.. perfect for kids who always misplace their hanky hahaha

I got these handkerchiefs from Greenhills.. from Connecticut carpark, there’s a bridge going to ShoppesVille.. the store is near the entrance. They also sell character slippers, cheaper than the mall price.

Another Fab finds: Giordao Polo Shirts from Giordao Outlet Store at Shell of Asia (NLEX)

My camera phone did not do justice to the shirts haha

We don’t usually shop at stop overs.. more like a bathroom break and some playing (Shell of Asia has a nice playground)..but I promised them I’ll give them shopping money the next time we stop at Shell Asia, because the last time we were there, they were asking me to buy something for them but I was out cash. So there…and as expected, they want to buy a cheap toy that will surely end up in the trash can.. OK.. they want to buy a 25 Pesos worth of plastic whatever.. but since I said no..we end up buying the shirts above… o di ba nagtipid sa bentesingko pesos, nauwi sa 1100!! nyahaha (yes, each shirt is 500+)

Anyways, it was worth it naman and mukhang mawiwili kame mamili sa Giordano Outlet Store sa Shell of Asia.

Common Baby Sleep Myths: BUSTED!

We already know the importance of a sound sleep to the babys’ development and how a slight disturbance can wake them up, affecting the developments that happens during sleep. When it comes to sleep, we always want to make sure that our babies are having enough. We do things that we believe can give them a good night sleep. What we do not know is, there are things we may have done in the past that didn’t actually helped. That’s why Pampers put up a list of Common Sleep Myths and Facts for us to know what is really helpful for our babies and sleep practices that we should avoid.

Let’s try to discuss some of the myths and please do tell me in the comment section how you feel about the myths and if you are practicing some.

MYTH:  Diapers make no difference to babies sleep.

sleep myth 1 busted

Mommy Pehpot: Based on our experience, the quality of diaper really makes a difference on sleep. Using a diaper with low quality can result to leak and in turn can lead to discomfort and the baby waking up at night. In the past, I tried using  an inferior quality diaper which ends up with my kids waking up at dawn due to leakage. I noticed that when they wake up at dawn, they have a hard time going back to sleep, they also tend to be cranky in the morning.

Aside from the baby having a better sleep if you use a diaper of superior quality, you will have a better sleep too. You don’t have to worry for leakage and you don’t to check the baby’s bottoms from time to time (which according to studies is actually a form of sleep disturbance). When you use a trusted diaper (Pampers of course) leakage worry is a thing of the past.

MYTH: Babies sleep longer when they’re kept up a little later.

sleep myth 2 bustedMommy Pehpot: I used to practice that.. letting the kids sleep later thinking they’d sleep longer..which means I can sleep longer too. I noticed that even though they sleep late, they still wake up early BUT crankier, cries easily and with little appetite. I think when babies or kids does not sleep early, they have the tendency to be overtired and overexcited.. that’s why they have a hard time sleeping longer which leads to crankiness and loss of appetite.

MYTH:Newborn don’t need a sleep schedule.

sleep myth3 busted

Mommy Pehpot: When I gave birth to my first born, I was lucky I got to read a few things about routine and sleeping through the night. I have learned that it is very important to introduce the baby to routines. It will help them a lot, specially in the sleep department, and will be more beneficial when they grow older .

————0O0————

MYTH: You can get a child to sleep through the night by starting solids early (before 4-6 months)

sleep myth 3 busted

Mommy Pehpot: I have a very strong opinion against starting solid foods too early.. having experienced a few food intolerance, I know that starting solid foods early is not right. Trust me, it will not help your kids in the sleeping department..as the mentioned above, this may trigger food allergy and can also lead to choking. MYTH:It’s okay to let your baby sleep in a moving seat or swing.

sleep myth 4 busted

MYTH:Some children are bad sleepers.

sleep myth 5 busted

Mommy Pehpot: My opinion for both myths is the same… it’s all about proper training.. as parents, it is our sole responsibility to train our kids to sleep and to sleep on their own. It can be hard at first but believe me, it can be achieved. You only need to patient about it. From our experience, the hardest was with 2nd born.. I had a hard time teaching him to sleep through the night because he wants to feed almost every hour. We had so many sleepless nights and the husband complains a lot.. but in the end, he was able to sleep through the night and now that he is 8, he’s a very good sleeper.

————0O0————

MYTH:Children who don’t take nap during the day sleep longer at night.

sleep myth 6 busted

Mommy Pehpot: Because nap time is also my rest time, the kids have to nap whether they like it or not. But there are times that I need to do a lot of things, like the laundry and other household chores, and no time for nap..the tendency, the kids sleep earlier than their sleep time..like 6 in the evening, sometimes missing their dinner, then waking up at the middle of the night, hungry and cranky.

How about you mommies? Have you been practicing some of the myths mentioned above? What do you think?

Mommy Pehpot and Mommy Levy’s Birthday Project

When I was offered to be one of Pampers mommy bloggers, I was ecstatic.. who wouldn’t be? That’s Pampers, that’s Procter & Gamble, a brand that we trust and actually use, from toiletries, to snacks (we love Pringles!) to Vicks (can’t live without it.. since I was 4!). The fact that they trusted me to carry out their brand message and campaigns is just overwhelming. And I thought the happiness would stop from there.. oh well, obviously I was wrong.. I wouldn’t be blogging about this if I was right LOL

As part of our partnership, Pampers gave me some diapers… I mean a lot of diapers.. like 6 boxes of diapers! And I was like, there is no way that we can use all of it! Sati’s the only one using diapers and she only uses one a day.. one box of diaper can last up to 6 months..ang bongga di ba? I am truly blessed..and so, I thought (and also inspired by Please Be Careful episode) of sharing my blessing to those that needs it the most. I have one shelter in mind that’s could use this much diaper.. and the date, of course my birthday next year. Codename: BIRTHDAY PROJECT

After the Red Ribbon Party Planner event yesterday, I went straight to the shelter to talk to their manager/volunteers.. and the date is set! February 1, 2014! Ayayay!

Grabe, the babies there are so adorable and so playful! I spent a few minutes playing with the kids.. gusto ko sila iuwi lahat!

Our (Levy and me) beneficiary for our Birthday Project is  Grace to be born:

Grace to Be Born Maternity Home and Nursery is the youngest member of the womb to tomb ministry of Bo. It also caters to the youngest beneficiaries. Grace to Be Born was established in 2009 through the generous partnership of Basti and Betty Roxas-Chua who renovated their Pasig building and lent it rent-free to Grace to Be Born. The place serves as a temporary shelter for the unwed mothers and an orphanage for the children born there. With no questions asked, no deposit required for board and lodging, and no social standing asked for, Grace to Be Born has become a haven for the young ones to be born in, and a place where their mothers have a chance for emotional and spiritual rebirth.

Now that I already set the date with them, it’s time to look for sponsors. Of course, I will be maximizing this party/ activity as much as I can.. and contact all the possible sponsors that I know. I want to give all that I can to the shelter. Fatima of Grace to be Born gave me a list of what they need, excluding the sponsors that I will contact, here are the list:

Toiletries for Babies ( I am hoping I can contact Johnson and Johnson for this). If you have contact or know anyone from JnJ, I would greatly appreciate if you will share this page with them.. or introduce me to them so I can send my proposal.

Milk for pregnant (I am also planning to contact Anmum for this one).. I’m still looking for the calling card from Anmum, but if know someone from them, please.. please share this page to them.

Maternity Clothes for mommies (and also a few clothes post maternity so we can give something for them once they graduate from the shelter). This is where you come in my dear readers.. If you have maternity clothes and other clothes that you no longer use, you can donate it 🙂

Milk for babies.. I read from somewhere that Milk companies are not allowed to donate milk (Milk Code.. correct me if I am wrong) and though I have contacts from Milk companies, let’s abide with the Milk Code.. and so I will be asking around for money donations on this one. This is specially for bloggers.. for every $20 (or equivalent in pesos) you donate, I will be putting link on my homepage (and mommy Levy’s blog) from the day you send the donation and will be up until March. I will also be publishing an update once in a while with the list of sponsors. You can contact me here: https://www.facebook.com/mommypehpot for the paypal address or the bank details.

They also need the following:

  • Biscuits (wala akong kilala sa MY San, baka may kilala kayo? hehe)
  • Vinegar
  • Soy Sauce
  • Cooking Oil
  • Brown Sugar
  • Cerelac for Babies

For companies and brands, as a way of gratitude, we will also display your banner on our homepage and will publish a post announcing you as one of our sponsors.

Bloggers who are free that day are welcome to party with us 🙂
