My Fearless Pinays List For 2014

In event held at Enderun last November, Whisper encourage Filipinas to shed their inhibitions and be bold and fearless.

A theatrical mime showed how the “mahinhin” culture and concerns about “tagos” holds women back from fully engaging in activities they like. And then the All-Girls Division Champions of the 2014 South East Asian Cheer leading Open DLSU Animo Squad demonstrated the exhilarating freedom that comes with unencumbered movement. Pole Cats also gave a mesmerizing performance to demonstrate how women can take control of their situation. Race car driver Michele Bumgarner shared her story on how she reached the top of male-dominated field through confidence and determination.

The Fearless Whisper event  inspired me to make my very own Fearless Pinays List! Fearless woman is one who breaks the norm and stands up to what she believes in and get what she deserves!

Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago because she said she eats death threats for breakfast (source). And not only that, while still recuperating from cancer (it was reported that 90% of her cancer cells have regressed), she’s working like it was just another ordinary day: (source)

I have managed to discharge my duties as chair of certain Senate committees. In addition, I continue to file bills and resolutions on weekly basis. I have also managed to discharge some speaking obligations, on condition that the event will not last more than two hours, which is my physical limit at this time.

And being you’d think this Senator is all work and no play? She published her very own humor book! A compilation of speeches, one liners and jokes delivered by the Senator.. this is one of my favorite quotes:

“Hindi naman ako mataba eh. In fact, I’m so sexy that it overflows.”

You can’t get any fearless than that!<

Another woman that I admire and should be on my Fearless Pinay list is the mommy blogger behind the Totally Homemade Sweet Treats And Savory Sidekicks, Bebeng:

Watching her grow.. para akong nanay na proud sa isang anak!

I admire her guts and how she made a successful food business from bananas while being a full time mom to Pia (and a full time virtual flirt to her military husband).

(READ>> “It All Began with Bananas”: Denise Rayala of Bebeng’s Kitchen Shares Her Story )

Sharing you her very inspiring quotes on success:

“Success is unreachable for those who make excuses all the time.”

Last on my list is my sister..

It would be her first Christmas away from us. She’s now living in London chasing her  dreams. She had to leave the comfort she used to and her son. And I know how hard it was for her but she’s really trying. Her move to leave the country and get out of her comfort zone made her the fearless woman that I admire.. but dearly miss! ahuhu

Share with me your Fearless Pinay List!

**** Through their #Fearless campaign, Whisper encourages women to be part of the new breed of forward-thinking women who challenge the norm and show that nothing can hold them back.Whisper Cottony Long is every young fearless woman’s best friend in her journey to be her fun, fearless self. It gives up to 100% no back leaks encouraging women to stand up with confidence and take control of their lives.

One fearless trivia: In a world where the norm is for a man to pursue a woman, yours truly made a move to pursue the man that I want. It was such a bold move but it was worth it!

Kanlungan Ni Maria Visit With Jollibee

Pahinga muna ako sa list blogging (bukas na ulet haha).. let me share my experience during our visit sa mga lolo at lola ng Kanlungan ni Maria.

Kanlungan ni Maria – Home for the Aged Inc. is a residential institution that aims to provide its residents with a family and home environment wherein they could live better and dignified life. While in the home, the staff and volunteers provides them with love, care, attention and maintain their daily needs. The institution will help in locating those residents with missing families and relatives for the purpose of reconciliation. In case no family member can be traced a long-term placement in the home will be provided to them.

I really enjoy the time I spent with the lolo and lola of Kanlungan ni Maria. It’s a joy sharing moments with our seniors, learning from their stories.

Tatay Cris, one of the residents, told me that each part of our body has a purpose. And through his stories, he gave me the impression that serving your family is the best thing that any of us can experience.

It was Grandparents’ Day weekend when we visited Kanlungan ni Maria and the event held there was part of Jollibee’s tribute to our lolo and lola.

I am a lola’s girl, you know. Siguro that’s one of the reason why I enjoyed my stay there, it reminds me so much of Nanay Oya and how she took care of me and taught me a lot of things. #sentimode lang poe.

Here are some photos I took during the event:

The most fasyon Lola at Kanlungan, ang taray with all her bracelet and red lipstick!

One of my favorite moment during the event. Apong- apo ang peg ni Jollibee di ba?

This is Lolo Cris with Jollibee.

This is what happened during the visit:

Totoo naman, ito ang weekend na laging maalala ni Lolo at Lola.. at kami din na nagkaroon ng pagkakataon na makasama sila..

2014 Breast Cancer Awareness Facebook Game

So, how many of your FB friends got pregnant? Seems like a baby boom huh? earlier than the expected 50 shades’ baby boom.

Here’s the reason behind those “pregnant” Facebook status:

Hahahahaha You should not have liked or commented! Now you have to pick one of the 14 below and post as your status. This is the 2014 breast cancer awareness game. Don’t be a poor sport; choose your poison, and change your status: 1) Damn diarrhea! 2) Just used my boobs to get out of a speeding ticket! 3) Anyone have a tampon? I’m out! 4) How do you get rid of foot fungus? 5) Why is nobody around when I’m horny? 6) No toilet paper! Goodbye socks! 7) Someone offered me a job as a prostitute, but I’m hesitant… 8)I think I’m in love with someone. What should I do? 9) I’ve decided to stop wearing underwear. 10) It’s confirmed…I’m going to be a daddy/mommy. 11) I really don’t know how to tell anyone and I’m sick of hiding it…I’m gay. 12) Guess it was to good to be true…I’m pregnant! 13) I just won $1000 on a scratch off! 14) I’ve just found out I’ve been cheated on for the past five months. Post with no explanations.

What was that?!? 2014 breast cancer awareness game?!?

I was not aware! I mean, those status does not even made me think of breast cancer.. how is this related to breast cancer or creating awareness against it? Enlighten me please!

What do you think? Does it really help in raising awareness? NOT! How does posting those status can help breast cancer when you can’t explain those status.

Those status are actually offending, specially the “Just used my boobs to get out of a speeding ticket.”

SERIOUSLY?!? You just did that to raise awareness for breast cancer? Oh come on! Can you imagine yourself saying that to someone who lost her boobs due to breast cancer?

If you want to take part in raising awareness for breast cancer, here are some websites that you should visit:
