Plastik Ka Ba? Weeeh Di Nga?!?

I had the chance to watch Cheche Lazaro presents Plastic Ka.

made me realize I should continue posting about my “manong wag mo na i-plastic” adventure to inspire more people to stop using plastic.

Opps. did I say stop using plastic? I take that back.. watching Plastik Ka, I have to agree on some points.. yes we cannot live without plastics.. and I am sharing with you some of the things that I can’t do without plastics:

  • frenemies… eek I was just joking hahaha
  • Milk Tea and float straw.. I don’t use straw on my drinks.. but with Milk Tea and Coke Float, is it really possible? I mean to enjoy the drink without the straw? Isn’t one of the most exciting part of drinking milk tea is the sinkers and how it goes through the straw.. ang saya di ba?
  • Plastic wrapper for books and notebooks.. self explainable.. paki explain sa katabi mo kung di gets.
  • Plastic on supermarket meats.. which I learned from Cheche Lazaro show, I can actually use my containers instead!

I did not include other plastic usage such as hanger, containers etc.. those are plastic made stuff that I really can’t live without..yes we cannot live naman without plastics.. but I think we can minimize the use of it. How?

Here are five ways to minimize the use of plastic without much hassle to your lifestyle:

  • if it is not milk tea or coke float, do not use straw.
  • when buying small medicine, don’t ask for plastic and if they put it in a small plastic, say you’ll just place it inside your bag.. those small plastic bags, it has no use, you can’t even reuse it.
  • avoid the “pakidoble” culture… that is common no? padoble ng plastic at baka mabutas.. as much as one plastic would do, let it be that way.
  • your garbage bin can live without plastic, so don’t make it a habit to line your garbage bag with a plastic. The thing is, because you are doing it, you will have the tendency to commit the “padoble” culture just to have more plastic that you can use to line your garbage bag.. gets?
  • when buying at convenience stores.. specially if you’re just buying a mineral water or a pack of something, that an do without using a plastic bag..

It’s not easy..as I have mentioned before, inconvenience is the price I have to pay to help save Mother Earth. It’s very inconvenient to bring your own ecobag, to bring your own container when shopping for meat and wet goods.. it’s not easy but inconvenience is a very small price.

I do agree, on the point that, plastic banning is not the ultimate solution, it was pointed out that other trash such as wood, old clothes have the tendency to sink at the bottom of the river.. and that only plastics are seen as the waste that clogs the river… making the metro more susceptible to flooding.. it’s all about waste management still and education. It was amazing what Villar Foundation has done to clean up their river and how they manage waste in their area..I hope this kind of waste management can be done in all parts of the metro (if only LGU will unite.. OK that’s another thing..)

Of course, waste management aside, minimal plastic use will be a great help…

How about paper bag? as one of the guest in Cheche Lazaro presents said, “basura pa din yon”….indeed..

Creating an Amazing Gift Basket

A gift basket is the perfect way to show appreciation for someone on a special occasion. Gift baskets can be personalized to include treats and gifts that are specially selected based upon the occasion or a person’s interests. Whether a gift basket contains flowers, candy or wine, it is sure to be met with a delighted smile of surprise. When making a gift basket, there are a few things to keep in mind in order to create an amazing gift basket that will stand out on any special occasion:

Type of Occasion

Gift baskets can be made to celebrate virtually any type of special occasion. Some of the most common celebrations that gift baskets are use for are birthdays, weddings and graduations. They can also be used to show appreciation to teachers, secretaries and nurses. Because gift baskets are customized to fit the occasion, they can be the perfect gift for the person who seems to have everything. Additionally, a gift basket can be used to celebrate a housewarming or to wish someone a speedy recovery from a recent illness or injury.

Things to Include

An amazing gift basket will be stocked with treats and gifts that reflect the celebrated occasion. It should also contain a mixture of small and large items that can be arranged to create a beautiful display. For children, a gift basket will include candy, small toys and balloons while a gift basket for an adult may include wine, cheese or other gourmet treats. Gift baskets can even be made for teenagers that include gift cards for music and makeup items. Specialty gift baskets can also be created to celebrate a new pet or hobby by including items such as grooming supplies or golf tees.

Once the items have been gathered, then they should be placed in a pretty container that conveys the theme of the basket. Some common containers include tote bags, buckets and baskets. Finally, every amazing gift basket should include festive decorations such as ribbons, balloons and flowers in order to tie it all together.

Custom-Made Baskets

Finding a collection of items to include in a gift basket can be challenging. This is especially true when a person has only a short notice of a recent event in someone’s life or if someone is creating a gourmet gift basket. For this reason, many people choose to order a gift basket from a professional service such as can be found at www.greatarrivals.com. Here, a collection of beautiful baskets can be found that include everything that is needed to make someone feel appreciated on their special day. Additionally, these baskets can be custom-made to include a personalized assortment of gifts.

When a person receives an amazing gift basket, they will feel as though it has been made especially with them in mind. Because gift baskets can be created to include items for all-ages and interests, they are the perfect gift to celebrate any type of special occasion.

My First Badge As A Gardener

My first higad exereince was when I was 10 years old. I remember I was playing.. then it was itchy everywhere, the next thing I knew, my arms were filled with rashes. I remember my lola poured vinegar on it then I took a bath and applied baby powder on it.

That was 20 years ago.. must be the reason why my body reacted differently when again, I got contact with higad. It was itchy.. and I can’t breathe.. my anti body’s really active!

As usual, I our some vinegar on it.. then washed it thoroughly but to no avail.. I had to drink an anti allergy so that it would stop itching.

Oh well, there goes my first badge as a gardener!

Happy Weekend!
