The Star Of My Sinampalukang Manok

err this is not a FOOD related post.. more of gardening related 🙂

That was May 30 and today..

This is b far the best sinampalukan I cooked.. my okra being the star!

I couldn’t wait for the time where all my sinigang ingredients will come from my garden.. or maybe I should put up a piggery too? so that even the meat will come from my backyard… what do you think?

When Dream Come To Reality..

I have a dream.. a very simple dream…

to plant tomatoes, sigarilyas, okra and eggplant.. a few of my favorite vegetables..and to harvest them in a nice basket and feed my harvest to my kids..

and now my dream is slowly turning into reality!

That’s the seeds that we planted last March 3 (with the help of my kids!).. That’s sigarilyas seedlings. When it started to sprout I was ecstatic! Sigarilyas is my favorite vegetable and to be able to plant one is happiness for me. The other seedlings are tomatoes, eggplant and pepper.

Our Okra seedlings that we planted 2nd week of February.. I can’t wait for the day that my Okra will bear its fruit..

The Chinese Kangkong after more than a month.. My mom said we need to cut some to encourage more growth.. so we did today! and we’re having Kangkong for lunch!

Our very first harvest! (photo of the dish later)

I am so happy that I finally had the courage to do this planting project..that I was able to manage my time more and squeeze this one.. it turns out, it’s not as time consuming as I thought it is..

Next project: Make an alphabet and number poster for Chico and Sati and start teaching them.

EDIT: here’s our Kangkong Dish:

Fireplace Bonding

Sipping a glass of wine, watching the fire dancing in the night..

Isn’t that what all couples think about they’re purchasing houses with fireplaces. Over the years, the fireplace has been used as the centre of many a social occasion. This is the part of the house where the family can spend hours being together. Playing games, eating, or just plain relaxing! Many people just love the idea of sitting in front of the fire doing nothing. There’s just a certain aspects of a real fire which make it very appealing; the wonderful glowing coziness that it produces adds a special something to a cold, dark winter’s evening!

Given the many types of fireplaces available, be it built from masonry or fabricated with marble or wood, you can be sure there is a fireplace out there that will suit everyone and every home and ensure you get the look that you’re after.

Most fireplaces either need flues or chimneys, for gas or wood fires anyway, but you’d probably struggle to find these on modern houses. With many new houses now using central heating, very rarely would you find built in fireplaces and chimneys. If you aspire to a quiet night of relaxation, sipping wine in front of a crackling fire, but your house lacks one, you might want to try looking into flueless gas fires. These are actually electric fires with a realistic flame. Again there are a wide variety of styles and price ranges to choose from and very much everything is up to your personal choice and budget!

There’s still something magical about the crackling warmth of a fire giving you that feeling of security just makes you want to snuggle up and sleep!
