Choosing The Right Contraceptive (that works)

Having two unplanned pregnancies, do I have the right to discuss this topic? Of course, at least I can give you some insights on what’s the most effective way to have unplanned pregnancy. LOL

Here are some list of different kinds of contraceptive, how they works and some side effects:

1. The pills. Generally the pill is taken orally, it contains two kinds of hormones which prevent us from ovulating. Depending on what kind of pills, it is taken first on the second or first day of your period. Most is a 28 pill mat, which you should take religiously with each pill corresponding to a day. This is one of the most effective contraceptive but it has some side effects on it. For one, if your neurons is as less as mine, and probably you suffers a lot of memory relapse, this one is not for you. I tried this one before and it only take two months and more than three missed intakes before I gave it up. Some says they experience head aches and weight gains. I did not experience both. The up side is I got brighter, whiter and clearer skin.

2. Injectables. This kind of contraceptive works well with less neurons people like me, you are injected only once every three months. Isn’t that great? How does it work? Basically it prevents your ovary from ovulating or releasing of egg cells. It fakes your body and make it feels like it is pregnant. Though this is great for me, there’s a lot of disadvantages that I personally experienced when I use this. – it is so DRY down there. and I hate it.. ok not if you will use KY.. but would you? – I became so fat.. more like a whale with bulging fats everywhere.. but hubby never mind LOL – head aches, head aches, head aches – morning sickness all the way.. – and lastly the reason why I gave it up, I got high blood pressure. I used it for more than a year before the high blood pressure episode.. and oh, it hurts a lot when it is injected on you.

3. IUD or Intrauterine Device. My OB gynecologist told me that this one is perfect for me, I don’t have to pollute my body with chemicals, no side effects and no need to sharpen my memory. The only down side, I cringe at the thought of it. You know how I hate flesh kind of movies, the feelings is so the same.. arghh.. How this thing works? well, a foreign object is placed on your uterus, a t shaped wire or plastic. Fertilization may occur but it won’t develop because of the foreign object in your body. Though this one has no side effects, the one using this is prone to vaginal infection. Since the t object is placed on the uterus, there’s a tiny string that goes down on the vagina. And when an infection occurs, the chances of it going up to your inside is very high. Think of the string as a freeway of the bacteria to the heavens of your partner. So if some one is using this, take extra precautions on cleaning that of yours.

4. Rhythm Method. This is by far the most effective way of getting pregnant in the most unexpected time. Trust me, I have proofs. This is effective if you can, say, stand days without “romance”. LOL

How this really works? If a woman’s menstrual cycle is regular, rhythm method is easy, if not, I suggest you try other ways of birth control. Our menstrual cycle works like this, we have a period for 5 to 7 days, count some more, then we ovulate. If the egg cell released by the ovary is not fertilized, 12 to 15 days later we discharge it. Simple as that.

Rhythm method takes advantage of the days that we are not ovulating. Ovulation appears only once a month (about 24 hours duration), it means you actually have 27 (if your cycle is 28 days) safe days, happy days, looove days.. NOT! If you are not aware, sperm cells can survive for 2 to 3 days and some even last up to 8 days. Intercourse 3 to 5 days prior to your ovulation may lead to pregnancy. That is why they have this 7 days after and seven days before, the safest time for contact, before and after your menstrual period. So if your not as horny as other people (ahem ahem) this works just fine for you.

Now, if you think that 7 days before and 7 days after, is not enough (not to mention you have your period for 8 days.. waaah!!) then you should be keen on the exact date of your ovulation. You must remember still that 7 days after your period still applies, you cannot squeeze more days from it (live with that). If you are lucky and your egg cell warns you before it takes off from your ovary, that is a whopping plus 5 or more days on your love life (ehem ehem).

It says that 24 hours after ovulation, contact is safe. How in the world can you know the exact moment of your ovulation? There is no way actually, to know the EXACT moment… but you body tells you if you are.. some signs are: *hotness (yeah that kind of hotness).. it’s how the nature works.. when ovulating your in heat.. it is how animals propagate.. that is why most intercourse that results to pregnancy are better (if not the best) *wet feeling *hotness.. again.. this time hot in reference to your body temp.. according to something I had read before, temperature increase (by half degree) during ovulation.. *slight morning sickness.. some may experience this, some may not. Ovulation may occur 10 to 14 days after your period (first day of your period).. so ten days after start looking for these signs and let them guide you.
