Immuvit MetaFit Challenge Final Week

Allow me to humiliate myself….

Now, let me justify.. the first photo, that’s 4 kids, 5 hours a day on the PC (lunch included), there’s frappe in there, and can you see the nutella? or how about the doughnuts and cups of rice? not to mention ZERO exercise. Wag nyo na ako kutusan, I already did that more than once. Yes I acted like as if I don’t care about my health and my body. When I was diagnosed with Kidney Stones, that was my wake up call. I became more conscious with my health and the food I eat. That was also the time that I started moving and exercising. So when I was invited to join a one month weight loss challenge I did not hesitate. See the result? (obvious naman di ba)

Let me make it clear ha, the challenge, I learned was not about loosing weight but more on getting fitter (and losing weight was one of the benefits). And as you can see, my tummy’s reaping the reward 🙂 Aside from the big change on my bulge, I also feel a lot stronger (note: hindi na ako hinihingal magpanhik panoog sa mga overpass sa Makati! woot!) and my resistance is better too, not to mention that I got a lot compliments on how young I look nowadays (teehee).

Say hello to MetaFit.. old time readers are familiar with this by now.. been blogging about it every week. This week is the final week for the challenge, hence I posted my photo. Here’s a short  summary (short lang promise) on how I achieved a smaller tummy (without going under the knife hehe):

Of course I do Metafit every day (or almost, I think I missed one or 3) and with the help of Immuvit, I was never out of energy. Immuvit is a herbal dietary supplement that contains 2 kinds of ginseng that gives energy boost.

Aside from MetaFit and taking Immuvit, here are some other things that helped me:

  • No colored drinks (coffee, milk tea, juie, etc) as mush as possible, stick with water. It was hard, specially the first week, then I learned that cold turkey is not my game, so I allow myself to have a taste of drinks from time to time. And if I do, I make sure that I do MetaFit more than once.
  • I also avoided sweets and count my calories intake, I limit it to 1200-1500 calories a day. Yes I spent some hours researching about calories.
  • I also sleep earlier and drink more water.
Coach Jim also told us to eat 6 small meals a day, and though it’s hard, specially that I am used to eating 3 heavy meals a day, I obliged. I usually have cereal drink and banana in the morning, banana and bread for 2nd meal, 1/3- 1/2 cup of rie + viand for 3rd meal, bread on the 4th, banana on the 5th and rice and viand as my 6th meal. There were days that I missed but my body and stomach got used to it after some days.
As for doing MetaFit, I record the rounds I did for the day (example, 5 rounds + 5 push ups). In that way, I can tract my progress as well as beat myself the next day (or next MetaFit). There were times that I do MetaFit 2x a day. My ultimate goal is to do it 3x a day. It’s only 4 minutes, so there is no reason why I should not.
I do my first set in the morning, as soon as I wake up. You know we all have the tendency to put it off, thinking it is only 4 minutes, but we end up not doing it. So it would be better to do it as soon as you wake up… it’s only 4 minutes! Another advantage of doing it as soon as you wake up is, you still have enough energy to do MetaFit unlike when you delay it and then you’d be too weak to even raise your hand that you need to eat in order to gain energy and of course if you eat first, you still have to wait 2 hours before doing since to allow digestion of food. Got the point?
After MetaFit, I drink Immuvit then eat my breakfast. I learned that eating right after doing MetaFit is very effective specially in weight loss management. Right after working out, your body’s still burning calories, so just imagine the benefits of eating while your body is burning calories.

Lastly, a tip from Coach Jim: if you feel like MetaFit is easy, then you’re doing it wrong. It should feel like the longest 4 minutes of your life.. ung tipong minumura mo na ung 4 minutes, bakit ang tagal tagal?!?

————

You might wonder why only 4 minutes? and no warm? no cool down? MetaFit is a short  high-intensity cardiovascular exercise that was designed to reverse Somatopause. This is a health condition where our body’s  production of growth hormones decreases. Short, high intensity work out is a way to reverse somatopause as during the work out, when oxygen debt has been reached, it triggers growth hormone release. Oxygen debt is the time when you are almost out of breathe, your body answers by trying to replenish oxygen through raising heart rate.

The one month Immuvit MetaFit challenge involves doing different kinds of exercise every week, two alternate exercises on the first week and on the fourth week, it is an alternate of the exercises from the past week.. Here’s a short summary:

Week 1: (alternate Set a and set b for week one: read my Immuvit MetaFit Week 1 experience here)

  • Set A exercise: 10 jumping jacks, 10 squats, 10 push ups, 10 lunges (both legs)…10 jumping jacks, 10 squats, 10 push ups, 10 lunges (both legs)… 10 jumping jacks, 10 squats, 10 push ups, 10 lunges (both legs)… until 4 minutes is up
  • Set B: 10 sealed jacks,  10 power squats &  10 push ups…10 sealed jacks,  10 power squats &  10 push ups…10 sealed jacks, 10 power squats & 10 push ups…until 4 minutes is up

Week 2: (click here to read my Week 2 experience and to watch my video for week 2 routine)

  •  10 touch toes, 10 squat jumps and 10 alternate lunges…. 10 touch toes, 10 squat jumps and 10 alternate lunges…. 10 touch toes, 10 squat jumps and 10 alternate lunges….until 4 minutes is up
Week 3: (click here to read my Week 2 experience and to watch Pinoy Biggest Loser Eric Limatog demo of week 3 routine)
  • 10 mountain climbers, 10 half burpees and 10 ski jumps…10 mountain climbers, 10 half burpees and 10 ski jumps…10 mountain climbers, 10 half burpees and 10 ski jumps…until 4 minutes is up.

Week 4: Alternate the routines from week 1 to week 3..

  • Day 1 is week 1a  routine, Day 2 is week 1b routine, Day 3 is week 2 routine, Day 4 is week 3 routine and so on.

After a month of doing it, I actually have no idea what to do next but if I would not get an update from Coach Jim, I guess I will have to continue doing the routines, beginning again from week 1 routine and so on. I guess it will be some kind of a cycle every month and will just have to beat my record every time.

Let me give you a little run down of how my week 4 transpired. Based on my record, this is the most routine I can do in each rotuine:

  • Week 1 Routine A: 4 rounds + 2 lunges
  • Week 1 Routine B: 5 rounds + 5 power jacks
  • Week 2 Routine: 5 rounds + 6 squat jumps
  • Week 3 Rotuine: 5 rounds

On Week 4 where I have to do it alternately for a week, I made it a point to beat my record:

  • Week 1 Routine A: 5 rounds + 10 jumping jacks
  • Week 1 Routine B: 6 rounds
  • Week 2 Routine: 5 rounds + 6 alternate lunges
  • Week 3 Rotuine: 4 rounds + 10 mountain climbers

Hopefully, each week I can do more rounds. I also have to work out on achieving the oxygen debt stage.. which sometimes do not happen. So I really need to be more intense with the routines.

I will post another update after 2 weeks and we’ll see if by the end of second month, I’ll be reunited with line of 2 waistline.. (I lost 5 inches on my waist line by the way).

FYI, from being Large in race singlet, I am now Medium! After a month, let’s see if SMALL will fit me 🙂

Immuvit MetaFit Challenge Week 3

I am now on my third week of the Immuvit MetaFit Challenge. There’s another set of exercise for us and I’m still getting the hang of it (more on that next week). Let me share with you what happened to Week 2.

The new routine for week 2 includes: 10 touch toes, 10 squat jumps and 10 alternate lunges. Here’s a short video for demonstration.

It’s a bit more challenging compared to Week 1’s routine, in fact, there’s a lot of leg work there. After 2 rounds, you can feel that your feet’s giving up. But don’t! Finish it just like what I did and it has to be 4 minutes.

Meta-Fit is a four-minute exercise routine that enables one to burn up to 600 calories in just a few minutes of exercise. Doing this form of exercise promotes higher metabolism and energy, stronger bones and lower blood sugar. It consists of fast, short and intense bursts of anaerobic exercises.  -from Immuvit website

MetaFit was designed to reverse somatopause, a condition where in our body’s growth hormone production decreases, together with Immuvit, MetaFit can fight Somatopause. Immuvit is a herbal dietary supplement that contains 2 kinds of ginseng that gives energy boost. As Metafit is a fast, short and intense burst kind of exercise, we need all the energy boost that we can get and Immuvit is the right supplement for that.

During the first few days of week 2, I was doing it once a day, if you can remember, by the end of Immuvit MetaFit Challenge week 1, I’m already doing the routine 2x a day. My goal for week 2 is to continue doing the routine 2x a day. By 4th day of week 2 (day 11), I’m doing it 2x a day and by Day 14, I am already doing it 3x a day.

For this week, week 3, I plan to do MetaFit 3x a day. I also plan to run at least 2x a week and see how far I can go. If I haven’t mentioned it, my ultimate goal for this challenge is to be able to run 3k in 20 minutes or less. I really hope I can do it.

Immuvit MetaFit Challenge Week 2

Yes, I am already on my week 2 of the one month Immuvit MetaFit Challenge.

As you know, Week 1 involves two kinds of routine, let’s call it Set A (jumping jack, squat, push up & lunges) and Set B (sealed jack, power/squat jack & push up) and this 2 sets are done alternately on the first week, Day 1 is Set A, Day 2 is Set B, Day 3 is Set  and so on. Aside from doing MetaFit everyday, our fitness plan also includes taking Immuvit of course, eating SMALL MEALS 6 times a day, basically it’s eating time every two hours. I am still working on it as when I am so engrossed with whatever I am doing (may it be gardening, drawing or writing) I tend to ignore my stomach.

Coach Jim also mentioned that we should avoid colored drinks, meaning, no soda, no tea, no coffee. For someone who loves anything with color, that challenge was difficult for me. The battle with the colored drinks is not yet over, specially Milk Tea (which has become my comfort drink before I took the challenge). I thought this would be easy but it turns out it’s not. There’s just so many temptations around me, junk food, Nutella, milk tea, frappe, IT IS SO HARD. Eating is very comforting to me, specially when I am down or when I am stressed out. And that’s what I have to work out on my second week, to divert my attention whenever my emotions go on a roller coaster. My mantra for Week 2 is When sad, write don’t eat! or When sad, eat but eat healthily! Last week’s mantra is I can do this! that’s for the routine which made my whole body sore.. but I did it, in fact I am doing it 2x a day already!

And here’s how I progressed during the first week:

First Day
It was 3 rounds of Set A and 2 jumping jacks, I know I can do 4 rounds, so I was a bit disappointed. What I achieved that day was, I avoided coffee and was able to say no to chocolates when we went to the grocery. As mentioned, I have a hard time following the every two hours small meal. I was busy gardening the whole morning that I had my second meal only after 4 hours and I used so much energy planting that I end up with a growling stomach! By the end of the day, I can already feel my body’s complaining and my legs are starting to say NO each time I try to take a step or climb the stairs. And that’s when my mantra came in: I CAN DO THIS.

Day 2
It was Set B for day 2, I did 4 rounds plus 4 power/squat jacks, not bad, considering when we tried it first, I fainted. I was out that day, attended a press launch and you know how press launches are, buffet! lots of food! I managed not to eat a lot and did not even had colored drinks, only water. But I sneaked on a frappe that day, got frustrated over something and end up comforting myself with frappe and ensaymada. If there is any consolation, I didn’t finished off the whipped cream as well as the chocolate syrup.

Day3
I did 3 rounds + 1 lunge (first leg), quite an improvement huh. I was able to avoid soda though it feels like it’s calling my name, I almost took a sip but I did not! My body’s not as sore as it was the other day. I can now walk and climb the stairs better. I can also stand up and sit down without much assistance. The down side of the day, I ate a lot during dinner, what? with chicken adobo, tomato and salted egg, it just hard not to eat a cup of rice! And we had doughnut and milk tea for dessert.

Day 4
I was ready to do it 2 times a day. I finished 4 rounds plus 4 push ups and my body’s already adjusted to it. Attended an event at SM North EDSA, went home riding MRT, alighted at Ortigas Station, walked to Robinsons Galleria, then rode on a bus, standing for almost 20 minutes. Why do I need to say what I have been through? On ordinary days, I’d be dead tired by the time I am home and bed would be my best friend, for how long? as long as I can. That day was different! I was still energetic and even managed to play with the kids (and the husband, if you know what I mean, big play baby, big play!). I can only thank Immuvit and MetaFit for that!

Day 5
4 Rounds + 10 squats on the morning and 4 rounds + 2 lunges (one leg) on the afternoon. Yes! it’s now 2x a day MetaFit for me. I love the fact that I improved/ did it faster on the afternoon. I also love the fact that I am sweating even if I am not working out. I love the fact that I can run-climb the stairs without getting out of breath. I love the fact that I feel a lot stronger and fitter! And I am a bit easier to myself now, allowing myself to have a few of the things that I am used to. Cold Turkey’s not the best option for me. I feel like I am depriving myself too much that I end up eating more.

Day 6
I am working out on my nap since I am used to taking long naps in the afternoon, I end up not eating every two hours. I finished 5 rounds+ 3 power/squat jacks in the morning and 5 rounds + 5 power jacks in the afternoon.

Day 7
Just when I thought I can do it more than 2x a day, a new routine came in. There’s a new one for week 2, although we were advised that the routine will be changed every week, I didn’t paid much attention that time. I was a bit slower, maybe because I was anxious of the week 2 routine. I only finished 3 rounds + 9 push ups on the morning and 4 rounds + 8 push ups in the afternoon.

All in all, I can say that my first week was good. I was so used to eating almost anything I want, drinking coffee  more than twice a day, finishing my meal with a glass of soda instead of water and sleeping really late at night. For the first week of this challenge, I managed to avoid almost half of what I used to eat and changed my lifestyle a bit. I had a hard time fighting the urge to eat sweets but I know week 2 will be a lot different and yes, fitter!

Week 2, I will be working out on my nap and food intake, I promise to be better this week. I will be more conscious of the time as well as the food. I will continue doing MetaFit twice a day and continue taking Immuvit.

I know you have been all curious how a 4 minute exercise can do as much, of course this is in partner with Immuvit.
