5 Tips to Supporting your Child in their Love for Music

Learning music is one of the best gifts a parent can give to a child. Children engaged in music often excel in various fields more so than those who don’t. They excel artistically, academically, socially and in every field they participate in.

According to boldmusiclessons.com, it is evident that a parent’s support in making a child excel in music is as important as the effort that the child inputs into the music. Parental guidance comes in different ways and interactions, each having a different effect on how a child dedicates to an activity.

The adeptness to learning music instruments and a child’s interest towards music also play a role. Here are the top tips to supporting your child in their love for music.

1. Expose your Child to Great Music

While playing music instruments is the craft towards music, music is the inspiration. Children, especially at younger ages, take the music tastes of their parents because those are the music genres they mostly listen to. If for instance you like listen to talks on radio, your child is less likely to fall in love with music.

Make sure you have a playlist of the songs your child is working on and get them to always listen to it. It is easier and more fun to work on a song a child is familiar with. Moreover, the child gets to focus and feel inspired if they keep listening to songs they enjoy playing.

2. Choose the Best Instructor

Choosing the best teacher for your kid means you choose a teacher your child likes. Look around for the best instructor. Most good musicians are not necessarily good teachers.

A good music instructor should be a role model to your child while at the same time ensuring that your child’s music lessons are exciting.

Children learn faster when they are having fun. Make sure you ask your child if they like the instructor otherwise the music hobby is bound to be short lived.

3. Select the Right Instrument

Your child might be a star struck with the piano, guitar or whatever instrument that motivates them. However, the guitar from the attic may not be the right instrument to keep your child motivated. The right quality of an instrument determines whether your child keeps motivated or not.

It’s important for the instrument to fit your child’s stature and physical qualities. As they learn to use the instrument, make sure it is helping them progress to the next levels. Once you have a good instructor they can notify you of the right time to upgrade the instruments.

4. Hold your Child Accountable

The only way to learn is through practicing whether your kid is playing musical instruments or even singing. Make a schedule for your child to practice and reward them for sticking to it. Giving prizes is a good way to motivate your child to continue doing the good deeds.

As a parent, you have an obligation to ensure that your child does the practice to maintain the hobby. Work hand in hand with the instructor to come up with the best strategy to make your child practice regularly.

5. Encourage Your Child

Always keep encouraging your child, tell them how good they are. Ensure your child knows that you love what they are doing. It will keep them motivated, especially when they feel like giving up.

Nakakamiss din yun ha! Thinking about it now, magawa nga sa next party ni Marius, bonggang bongga DIY Party! Pioneer Adhesives DIY Planner Review

Pioneer Adhesives Products On Video

I love how the planner inspires me to do at least one DIY activity a month. It’s a good start for someone who stopped DIY-ing for a long time. Also a good start for someone na ngayon pa lang gagawa ng DIY.

Most DIY activities included in the planner is easy to do. Halos lahat ng materials are easy to find, from my browsing, the most complicated (and magastos) is the DIY Abaca Seat from gulong. But it’s also the most rewarding hahaha

I am definitely going to try that abaca seats. May apat na gulong ako sa garahe! I just need to buy nylon rope, abaca rope, and more Pioneer Contact Bond.

Update ko kayo kapag may finished product na ako 🙂

5 Things To Know Before Buying A Car Seat

Using a car seat here in the Philippines is still not very common. Most parents think that a car seat is still not a necessity. We are one of those and I feel bad about it. Out of 5 kids, it was only with our last that we seriously thought of it. I wish we had sooner.

I am glad that the government is doing something to make car seat part of the law. Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act of 2017 has been approved by the congress. Still not in law but that’s a good start. The bill requires the use of car seat for kids below 12 years old. It also states that kids below 12 years cannot occupy the front seat.

So if you are like us who have no idea about car seat, here are some guidelines. I came up with this guidelines while I was doing my research about car seat.

5 Things To Know Before Buying A Car Seat

Local brand vs imported brand? Always go for imported brand because the testing done on those products are very rigid. Imported brands such as Nuna convertible car seat goes through a lot of testing. And from time to time new tests are made.

Brand new or second hand? Since most car seat companies go through a  lot of testing, what is considered safe a few years back may no longer be safe now.  If you are going to use a second hand car seat, make sure that it is not too old. 3-5 years old car seat is a good option. Any car seat older than 5 years is not good.

When is the right time to buy a car seat? The right time to buy is during baby sales and of course before your baby is born. You will be using the car seat when the baby goes home from the hospital.

What’s the best type of car seat? Always go for car seats that can be used form birth up to when the baby is around 18-20Kgs. It can be pricey at first but it’s a really good investment. Just use baby carrier when you go out of the car. I love the wrap I use from Shadrach’s Collection.

What is the price range of a good car seat? A really good car seat that can be used from birth is usually around 10,000 Pesos and up. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a good discount from baby fairs.

Car seat is a non negotiable must buy baby gear.
