For the first ever Exploreum Summer Camp, participants became Marine Explorers! The summer camp is a 3 day learn-through-play experience that stimulates curiosity through memorable activities.

The kids who joined the camp were divided into 3 categories. As this year’s summer camp theme is about Marine Science, the kids were grouped as The Dolphins,  The Orcas and The Sharks. The Dolphins were ages 4-6 years old, kids ages 7-9 were The Orcas and The Sharks were kids ages 10-12 years old.

First day of summer camp! Kids were divided into 3 groups; The Dolphins, The Orcas, and The Sharks.

Vice Ganda Takes Off Makeup For A Fan

Hindi ako showbiz, alam nyo yan.. and I have no intention to turn this blog into a showbiz blog. But today, I’ll make an exception because this kind of things must be shared.

Ang Mahiwagang Black Box ng ABS CBN

Sooo my mahiwagang black box came in today! Yippe! I managed to set it up in less than 10 minutes! Ang dali dali lang promise. The next thing to do is see if it can deliver and I’m impressed! My TV is sooo linaw! It’s Showtime is sooo linaw! And very timely, there was this fan complaining to Vice Ganda how people were bullying her and saying names to make her feel bad.

As expected, Vice made the girl feel better through words of wisdom.. Vice mentioned about loving one’s self and accepting who your are. Vice even goes as far as encouraging the girl to love herself by saying “Maitim ako” “Pango ako“.

But what surprised the audience and even me was when Vice asked for wet wipes and takes off his makeup. WHOA!

Vice Takes Off Make Up On TV

How can you not respect someone doing that? On national TV?

Then Vice encourage the viewers to do the same and post it on Instagram with the #proudtobeme

In less than an hour, there’s an overwhelming response from his fans!

Clap! Clap! Clap! for Vice Ganda! You really win my heart (and obviously my blog) on this one!

If I remembered it right, Vice even mentioned on making yourself pretty/ beautiful or improving one’s appearance not for anyone else but for yourself. Sabi nga nya (nv) “Nagpapaganda ako dahil karapatan kong gumand.”

New Generations 2015 Reveals TV As A Dominant Platform Among Filipino Kids

David Webb, Turner International Asia Pacific Director of Research and Planning for Kids and Entertainment, presented to us the findings of New Generation 2015. It is a study that analyzes the habits and preferences of today’s connected Filipino kids. Tumer Broadcasting System, the company behind kids’ channels such as Cartoon network, Toonami and Boomerang, initiated this study through the market research consultant company, Yellow Squares.

Who were the respondents on this study?

500 child- parent pairs from affluent households in the Mega Manila area were surveyed for this study.

Here are some of the results of the study:

  • 1 out 2 kids, ages 4-14 years old own a mobile phone with 91% of households owning a smart phone
  • 94% of respondents have tuned in on TV on the month surveyed and online usage follows at 93%
  • TV is the top media choice for information

  • 7 out 10 kids watched TV with their mom and/or dad in the last week
  • Kids are accessing as much as 5 apps per month

“As tablet and mobile devices continue to proliferate homes, the way Filipino kids access entertainment and games continues to evolve,” said David Webb. “Even among highly connected kids, television continues to be the number one media. Outside of their friendship group, it is the most important media when it comes to how they find out about new things that appeal to them. This, occupied with the fact that the majority of kids spend co- viewing with the decision makers of the household means that TV is still the most effective medium for reaching this important audience.”

From my experience, I noticed that my kids are also more into TV than gadgets. Although I prefer that they read more, I cannot deny the fact that TV would be better than gadgets. At least with watching TV, I can watch it with them. I can monitor what they are watching and I can explain it to them.

What do you think of this study? Do you think it reflects the Mega Manila households?
