Hello SY 2015-2016: Some Tips To Boost Multiple Intelligence

It’s been 2 weeks since SY 2015-2016 started and to be honest I just finished covering and labeling their books and notebooks! I don’t what happened but I am too relaxed this past few days. I am not stressing myself that much and I have noticed that with this kind of relaxed attitude, my kids are less stressed too.

But of course, when it comes to their education, we’re not that relaxed naman. To help them achieve more this school year and to boost their Multiple Intelligence, I made a few adjustments on our schedule of activities.

We’re still very strict with their study time. Dati, I usually let them rest and feed them before studying, my first born said, inaantok sya pag ganun. Baka daw pwede study muna and assignment before snacks and milk. Well, it’s their body and that’s one thing I can tell you moms to boost their multiple intelligence, listen to your kids. Take a cue from what they are telling or what they are not telling you.

After study time, I let them play and relaxed but without gadget. They can only use their gadgets on Friday afternoon until Sunday 12 noon. Imposing a no gadget week improves their concentration. TV is off too during study time. To relax, they play outside, improving their body smart intelligence. They also discovered the Marco Polo game!

We’re still working on our reading schedule but slowly, we’re getting there. I always ask them to read for at least 30 minutes a day and we’re building a library na! How can I convince them to read if we don’t have books di ba?

Lastly, knowing what kind of learners they are really helped a lot to prepare them to school and boot their Multiple Intelligence. It is much easier to teach them when I know how they learn. I also bought a few materials to be used when teaching them. For my first born, since he is visual and Kinaesthetic learner, I gave him a few markers for his textbooks. The experience of highlighting important texts and seeing it in bright colors can help him better understood the concepts. As for my 2nd born who is also visual-Kinaesthetic, but a bit different, I bought a white board to help me in teaching him. He learns better kase this way, yung parang classroom setting na the teacher is writing and discussing.

So far, we’re doing good with our academics. And obviously, with these techniques, I am more relaxed and less stressed!

In summary, here are the things that we do to help them achieve more in school and boost their Multiple Intelligence:

  • Impose a very strict study time
  • Listen to tthe kids
  • Limit use of gadget
  • Let the kids play outside
  • Encourage them to read
  • Know what type of learner he/she is

Dear Manong Taxi… (On Attending Events Without Payment)

Gusto ko sana sabihin kay Manong.. may bayad mo pa yan.. FRIENDSHIP

But I don’t think he’ll ever understand  how I love attending events without thinking about the monetary value that I would get (not unless from the start, it is  stated as a paid coverage). When I was just starting.. nakaka excite to receive goodies, to the point that I value it more than the event na itself. I judge an event based on the loots I got.. Pero as I grow older as a blogger, I have learned to value relationship over loot bags.

Truth of the matter is, when I attend an event, I spend around 2000 PhP. That’s for taxi fare, pasalubong and my mom’s fare din since lumuluwas siya to look after my kids. Ang mahal mag events di ba? But I do it for fun talaga and for friendship.. to meet friends, to be with friends or to support friends from the agency.

So yes, as you can see, ma friendship akong tao, related story: 3 Reasons Why I Post Press Releases For FREE

Pero I don’t advocate attending events for free ha, always know your worth as a blogger. Dapat lagi kang may gain. Ako kase, I may not gain financially from attending events but I gained relationships and minsan content na rin. And yeah, there is something about getting the first dibs on products you love. And oh! Endless chikas with fellow mommy bloggers! Ang saya di ba?

Black School Shoes (and more shoes) From Liliw, Laguna

Not our first time in Liliw and definitely not our last! Babalik- balikan namin ang Liliw! This side of Luzon is very promising! We’re North people and we seldom explore South, hanggang Tagaytay lang kame. Or sometimes, UPLB and one time, umabot kame ng Pakil to buy Santa Claus paper mache. This time, I am thinking of spending a weekend in Laguna. Explore Nagcarlan underground cemetery, Liliw’s natural spring, maybe even visit Costales farm and buy longganisa at Lucban and even include a hike at Kamay ni Hesus..ang dami daming pwedeng gawin! Not to mention the churches on this side of Luzon is stunning!

This is the church at Liliw, Laguna. We only discovered this during our 2nd visit. Nasa kabilang street ito, this is where most people park their cars. From the side of the church (left side if facing the church), you can exit and this is where the shoes shopping adventure begins!

Our favorite store (so far!) is Badong:

It’s the only shop in Liliw that sells black school shoes and other closed shoes e.

Here are some of the shoes on display during our first visit last year:

The shoes here are sooooo cheap! These are all under 500 PhP!

Coolness di ba? Imagine 6 pairs of school black shoes + 1 leather shoes for my mother + tsinelas for husband + sandals for MIL + sandals for my ate + mary jane for me + black boots for Sati= 12 pairs of footwear = 5500 PhP

5 pairs of that black shoes for the boys.. pare parehas na para hindi mahirap mamili haha 1 black shoes for Sati. It’s less than 500 lang eh.. 450 each if I am not mistaken.

This sandals for my mother in law, also less than 500 PhP.

If sandals only, isang buong street ng Liliw ang puro tsinelas, wedge and many other foot wear, and you buy as cheap as 100 Php!

For food naman, Liliw is known for Arabela and Chef Mau, hindi pa namin nasubukan, so that’s another reason to go back to Liliw!

Have you been to Liliw, Laguna?
