Yesterday was third son’s moving up ceremony.. he’ll be Grade One this coming school year. I am very proud of him for his achievement.. my third boy who is the shyest of them all is now a graduate (or a mover as k-12 rule says no graduation for preschoolers hehe)

United Kingdom, March 17, 2014 – Ten Filipina working moms in the United Kingdom (UK) will get to spend a special Graduation Day dinner with their child in the Philippines as a reward for their unwavering dedication to providing a better life back home, The Western Union Company (NYSE:WU), a leader in global payment services, announced today.

Through the Western Union^® Mother’s Pride contest, the top ten Filipina moms in the UK who post their sweetest picture of themselves and their graduating child on Facebook (www.facebook.com/WesternUnionUK), Twitter or Instagram (#Wumotherspride) and collect the most votes, will be rewarded with two Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 tablets each to stay in touch with their loved ones, starting with a specially prepared “online dinner” to celebrate their child’s graduation.

With the POEA estimating at least 220,000 Overseas Filipinos and a growing need for nurses and caregivers in the UK, more and more Filipinas every year are making the choice to leave the country to create a brighter future for their loved ones back home.

Education is consistently a top consideration for migration among most working Filipina mothers. Research shows the allocation of monthly remittances include paying for tuition fees, and other school related expenses like baon or allowances¹.

Design students contribute to building thoughtful homes

This year, Electrolux, a global leader in household appliances, partnered with the University of the Philippines-Diliman, De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, and University of the East-Caloocan to give design students a chance to create a thoughtful, modern home for the rest of the world to enjoy.

Design students around the globe are invited to submit innovative ideas for the future household for a chance to win € 5,000 and a six-month paid internship at an Electrolux Global Design Center.

On its 12^th year, Electrolux Design Lab continues to pave the way for future visions of urban household lifestyles, with the theme Creating Healthy Homes. The competition seeks ideas for products, accessories, consumables and services for three focus areas: Culinary Enjoyment, Fabric Care and Air Purification. Through the Design Lab competition, Electrolux sees a creative and sustainable future that projects a healthy well-being and pleasant environment for everyone to live in.

Andrea Pionilla, Marketing Manager, Electrolux Philippines, explains, “Design Lab is Electrolux’s way of fostering technological innovation. This year, we look forward to receiving creative new ideas that will promote healthy and sustainable lifestyles to millions of people around the world.” She adds, “Design students from the country are capable of competing globally and are equipped with outstanding skills and the drive to be recognized by the whole world. All Filipino Design students are welcome to join. To enter the competition, participants should submit the following: (1) a brief of their concept; (2) a visual sketch illustrating their concept; and (3) a description of the consumer benefits. Tackling And Solving Diapering Woes

Diapering woes are usually encountered when you know little about the diaper you are using. Based on my experience and some observations, here are the 3 common diapering woes that moms encounter:

Diaper Leak

This is very common specially if the diaper you are using does not have the technology to protect the baby from wetness. Another reason why this happens is the use of wrong size of diaper. Here’s something you have to remember when it comes to diaper size:

Size NB: up to 5 kg
Size S: 3 – 8 kg
Size M: 6 – 11 kg
Size L: 9 – 14 kg

Diaper Smell

This is what I love most about Pampers Active diapers, it does not smell bad after a night use. Well of course the story is different when it is soiled hahaha I guess this has something to do with Pampers’ Baby lotion, it is infused with aloe lotion which helps prevent diaper rash

And speaking of diaper rash, this one is the most common skin disease among babies.. and you know what? Diaper rash is better prevented than treated.. and preventing it is the easiest!
