Chicken Macaroni Salad + 5Mbps = Happy Monday!

Madness Monday. That’s how I usually describe my Monday. Today was different.. in fact, even with just 4 hours of sleep (including 2 hours nap time), I feel better, happier and somewhat more accomplished. It must be the Chicken Macaroni salad from yesterday that’s keeping me up or the new internet connection with a faster speed> 5 Mbps, yeah baby! or both.

Sky Broadband 5Mbps plan for 2000 PhP monthly

We subscribed from Sky Broadband 5 Mbps yesterday..and so far I am loving it! Fast internet connection can really make a mommy blogger happy and stress free hahaha

Chicken Macaroni Salad

Sasabihn ko sana, I have no plans on making Macaroni salad yesterday, the truth is, I always have a stock of pasta, cheese, mayo and pineapple chunks..matagal ko na plano mag Macaroni, nakakalimutan ko lang lagi bumili ng chicken fillet. So when I received a gift pack from Bounty Fresh last Saturday, tuloy na ang Macaroni Salad.

I was surprised when this package was delivered to me. It includes one whole chicken and breast fillet. We roasted the whole chicken, but no pictures, because as soon as the chicken was out in the oven, my kids started devouring it haha

Actually, may party sana ako kahapon dito sa bahay..but due to changing weather, most of my guests were sick.. perfect timing sana para ipatikim sa mga friends ang aking roasted chicken.. but the kids already knew that we will be having roasted chicken on Sunday..eh di tinuloy ko na!

Well.. did you know that Bounty Fresh Food, Inc was the first Philippine company in 2009 to win the Best Poultry and Livestock Company Award at the 2009 Asian Livestock Industry awards held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. BFFI topped categories like Technological Excellence, Food Safety, Marketing Excellence and Industry Leadership. Deserve na desrve nila ang tite na “Asia’s Best” di ba?

So how’s Asia’s Best chicken produced?

Feeds. It all starts with the feeds. Bounty Fresh’s chicken expert (shout out to Allan, the Chemist Dad! hello!)make sure that the raw material used are carefully selected and feeds are always delivered fresh to the farms.

Mother Hen aka Breeders (the one that produce day old chicks) are kept in breeder farm under controlled environment. The breeder house has automated feeding and egg collection systems that ensure timely collection and of course clean and safe environment for the eggs.

Hatchery. From the breeder house, eggs are brought to the hatchery for incubation and hatching. Bounty Fresh was the first company to introduce the the single stage hatchery incubation system. At dahil wala akong alam sa hatchery incubation system, may I consult ako kay Mr. Google.. ang siste, may multiple stage pala.. at sa pag- aaral eh mas maganda ang single stage since less contamination. Sa multiple stage, parang nililipat lipat ang itlog, depending on their age.. parang hagdan lang na unti- unti silang umaakyat hanggang umabot sila sa 21 days.. in single stage naman, nasa isang lugar lang sila with precised temperature. Obviously, with this hatchery system, the eggs will hatch into chicks with better quality.

Broiler Farms. After hatching, the eggs are borught to tunnel-ventilated broiler farms where they are grown. As it is with the Breeder house and hatchery, the environment in broiler farm is also controlled. Also, the chicks are more relaxed since they have more space to roam around. Eto pa.. ang mga farm personnel na nagpapakain sa mga chicks eh kailangan maligo muna bago pumasok..

Processing Plant. This is the last step to your table.. este before it goes to your favorite supermarket. When chicks are fully grown and become healthy chicken with the right size and weight they are brought to Bounty Fresh’s Triple-A Processing Plant (certified by National Meat Inspection Commission) for processing. A thorough inspection is done to make sure that the chicken is disease free and free from foreign materials. Chicken products are then vacuum- sealed to keep the natural flavors and juices in, keep bacteria out and prolong the product’s refrigerated shelf life .

As Bounty Fresh AVP for Operations Development Department, Carl Chung, puts it: ” As your Chicken Expert, we commit ourselves in giving the Filipinos Asia’s Best Chicken.”

Fab Finds Friday: 1 Dozen Hanky For 30 Pesos!

I really love reading blogs with everyday theme.. Wordless Wednesday.. Throwback Thursday and the likes.. I tried it before but it’s not for me. Most of the time, I’d be too busy to even think of a topic that corresponds to the theme of the day.. or that I wouldn’t have a time to blog!

Now, I am trying it again.. but this time I’ll start with just two themes: Fab Finds Friday and Thankful Thursday.. won’t put too much pressure on myself.. let’s see how this will go.

For my first post.. got 4 dozens of Handkerchief for 120 Pesos! Isn’t that a real steal?!? Imagine a dozen hanky for 30 pesos only! The hanky size (estimate) is 10 by 10 inches..

They have different designs and there’s Hello Kitty too.. and though the quality of the fiber is not thick, this is a good find.. perfect for kids who always misplace their hanky hahaha

I got these handkerchiefs from Greenhills.. from Connecticut carpark, there’s a bridge going to ShoppesVille.. the store is near the entrance. They also sell character slippers, cheaper than the mall price.

Another Fab finds: Giordao Polo Shirts from Giordao Outlet Store at Shell of Asia (NLEX)

My camera phone did not do justice to the shirts haha

We don’t usually shop at stop overs.. more like a bathroom break and some playing (Shell of Asia has a nice playground)..but I promised them I’ll give them shopping money the next time we stop at Shell Asia, because the last time we were there, they were asking me to buy something for them but I was out cash. So there…and as expected, they want to buy a cheap toy that will surely end up in the trash can.. OK.. they want to buy a 25 Pesos worth of plastic whatever.. but since I said no..we end up buying the shirts above… o di ba nagtipid sa bentesingko pesos, nauwi sa 1100!! nyahaha (yes, each shirt is 500+)

Anyways, it was worth it naman and mukhang mawiwili kame mamili sa Giordano Outlet Store sa Shell of Asia.

Common Baby Sleep Myths: BUSTED!

We already know the importance of a sound sleep to the babys’ development and how a slight disturbance can wake them up, affecting the developments that happens during sleep. When it comes to sleep, we always want to make sure that our babies are having enough. We do things that we believe can give them a good night sleep. What we do not know is, there are things we may have done in the past that didn’t actually helped. That’s why Pampers put up a list of Common Sleep Myths and Facts for us to know what is really helpful for our babies and sleep practices that we should avoid.

Let’s try to discuss some of the myths and please do tell me in the comment section how you feel about the myths and if you are practicing some.

MYTH:  Diapers make no difference to babies sleep.

sleep myth 1 busted

Mommy Pehpot: Based on our experience, the quality of diaper really makes a difference on sleep. Using a diaper with low quality can result to leak and in turn can lead to discomfort and the baby waking up at night. In the past, I tried using  an inferior quality diaper which ends up with my kids waking up at dawn due to leakage. I noticed that when they wake up at dawn, they have a hard time going back to sleep, they also tend to be cranky in the morning.

Aside from the baby having a better sleep if you use a diaper of superior quality, you will have a better sleep too. You don’t have to worry for leakage and you don’t to check the baby’s bottoms from time to time (which according to studies is actually a form of sleep disturbance). When you use a trusted diaper (Pampers of course) leakage worry is a thing of the past.

MYTH: Babies sleep longer when they’re kept up a little later.

sleep myth 2 bustedMommy Pehpot: I used to practice that.. letting the kids sleep later thinking they’d sleep longer..which means I can sleep longer too. I noticed that even though they sleep late, they still wake up early BUT crankier, cries easily and with little appetite. I think when babies or kids does not sleep early, they have the tendency to be overtired and overexcited.. that’s why they have a hard time sleeping longer which leads to crankiness and loss of appetite.

MYTH:Newborn don’t need a sleep schedule.

sleep myth3 busted

Mommy Pehpot: When I gave birth to my first born, I was lucky I got to read a few things about routine and sleeping through the night. I have learned that it is very important to introduce the baby to routines. It will help them a lot, specially in the sleep department, and will be more beneficial when they grow older .

MYTH: You can get a child to sleep through the night by starting solids early (before 4-6 months)

sleep myth 3 busted

Mommy Pehpot: I have a very strong opinion against starting solid foods too early.. having experienced a few food intolerance, I know that starting solid foods early is not right. Trust me, it will not help your kids in the sleeping department..as the mentioned above, this may trigger food allergy and can also lead to choking. MYTH:It’s okay to let your baby sleep in a moving seat or swing.

sleep myth 4 busted

MYTH:Some children are bad sleepers.

sleep myth 5 busted

Mommy Pehpot: My opinion for both myths is the same… it’s all about proper training.. as parents, it is our sole responsibility to train our kids to sleep and to sleep on their own. It can be hard at first but believe me, it can be achieved. You only need to patient about it. From our experience, the hardest was with 2nd born.. I had a hard time teaching him to sleep through the night because he wants to feed almost every hour. We had so many sleepless nights and the husband complains a lot.. but in the end, he was able to sleep through the night and now that he is 8, he’s a very good sleeper.

————0O0————

MYTH:Children who don’t take nap during the day sleep longer at night.

sleep myth 6 busted

Mommy Pehpot: Because nap time is also my rest time, the kids have to nap whether they like it or not. But there are times that I need to do a lot of things, like the laundry and other household chores, and no time for nap..the tendency, the kids sleep earlier than their sleep time..like 6 in the evening, sometimes missing their dinner, then waking up at the middle of the night, hungry and cranky.

How about you mommies? Have you been practicing some of the myths mentioned above? What do you think?
