Happy Birthday Mother Dearest!

Today is my mother’s birthday..and we are the luckiest for having her as our mother, kaya naman kahit nasa Nueva Ecija sya with my sisters, mega handa pa din kame ng aking brotherhood.

And this is our simple handa for our mother’s birthday:

Baked Penne

BBQ favored buffalo wings

Beef Caldereta

and these 3 great tasting dishes is brought to us by Clara Ole products 🙂

A few weeks ago kase, I received this really nice package from Clara Ole (thank you Justine and company!):

I have been using Clara Ole products for so many years now. My favorite is the 3 cheese pasta sauce (I noticed that they changed their packaging..gives the product more personality), Clara Ole cherries and Clara Ole Orange Marmalade (sometimes Clara Ole strawberry jam). I didn’t know that Clara Ole has pancake syrup (syempre tuwang tuwa ang mga bagets at pancake party na naman yan!), dressing and some marinade but what surprised me the most wass the Ora Mix Mo product.. now I am excited to try that one! (malamang pang pasko na yan hehe)

If you want to know more about Clara Olé value offerings and their product range visit Clara Ole website or follow them on Facebook: Clara Ole Facebook Page or connect via Instagram @claraoleph. You can also catch the exciting Clara Olé webisodes called “Pot Sessions: A Cook Without A Book”  via the Facebook app:https://www.facebook.com/myclaraole/app_566691690034303.

For my mom’s birthday handa, these are the Clara Ole products I used:

  • Clara Ole Three- Cheese Pasta Sauce for baked penne
  • Clara Ole Barbeque Marinade (original) for Buffalo wings (BBQ flavored)
  • Clara Ole Tomato Sauce for Beef Caldereta

Kain na tayo! (ay ubos na pala haha) sige share ko na lang ang recipe sa napakasarap na mga pagkain na handa namin kanina 🙂

Baked Penne Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 450 grams penne pasta
  • 1 kg Clara Ole Three Cheese Pasta Sauce
  • 500 grams ground round beef
  • 2 medium sized green bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 medium sized onion (minced)
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese for toppings (adik lang sa cheese, obvious ba? hahaha)

And this is how Baked Penne ala Pehpot is done:

  1. Cook the ground beef until brown. Add the onion and bell pepper and cover (low heat) for about 10 minutes.
  2. Add the Clara Ole Three-Cheese Pasta Sauce, increase heat until boiling then low heat and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
  3. Cook your penne according to the packaging.
  4. In a baking ware, put the pasta, then the sauce, a few mozzarella cheese, pasta again, sauce and cover with more mozzarella cheese.
  5. Bake it for 8-10 minutes (or until the cheese is almost brown).
  6. Serve with BBQ flavored Buffalo wings 🙂

BBQ flavored Buffalo Wings Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg chicken wings
  • 1/2 cup (or half the pouch) Clara Ole Barbeque Marinade (original)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/8 butter
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon pepper
  • cooking oil

Prepare the chicken first:

  1. Separate the chicken wings (meaty part from the bony part)
  2. Also try to separate the chicken skin a little.
  3. Season the chicken with 1 teaspoon salt + 1 teaspoon pepper and leave for a while.

For the coating:

  1. Mix 1`cup flour + 1 teaspoon salt + 1 teaspoon pepper.
  2. To coat the chicken evenly, use a big plastic ware with lid and put the coating mixture, the chicken (by batch), close and shake.

Coat the chicken and while doing so, make sure that the part where the chicken skin is detached is coated too. Leave it for about 10 minutes, before cooking in a very hot oil.. make sure that it is deep fried.

For the BBQ sauce:

  1. Mix 1/2 cup Clara Ole Barbeque Marinade (original) with sugar and let it simmer. Add the butter and stir until the butter is melted.

Coat the cooked chicken wings with the sauce and serve with Bluecheese dip (argh I should have tried using the Clara Ole Dips n Dressing Ranch for this.. next time na lang!)

I know you want to ask why caldereta? parang hindi bagay no? actually, that one is for the hubby, hindi mahilig sa pasta un no.. kawawa naman baka magutom (eh malapit na 13th month pay bwahahaha)

——-0O0——-

waah ang haba.. I will make it quick with the Beef Caldereta Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams beef cubes
  • garlic (minced), oinion (minced) and bell pepper (sliced thinly)
  • 2 medium sized potatoes (quartered)
  • 1/4 cup frozen green peas
  • 2 table spoon liver spread
  • 1 pouch Clara Ole Tomato Sauce
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • small piece of star anise and dried laurel leaves

Cook the beef until tender with 1/4 cup vinegar, minced garlic and star anise + laurel leaves. Add water from time to time.

  1. When the beef is tender, let the mixture cook until it dries up (o sa lutong tagalog eh nagmamantika na)
  2. Add the onion and bell pepper, tomato sauce and cook for about 5 minutes (adding water to prevent from drying up)
  3. Add the liver spread and let it stand for a few more minutes before adding the potatoes, add 1/4 cup water, heat in very low then cover.
  4. After 10 minutes (or until the potato is done), add the green peas and 1/2 cup water. Let it simmer for 5 minutes more.
  5. Serve with isang kalderong kanin! Enjoy!

The BBQ flavored Buffalo Wings was a hit! I am sure mauulit yan sa pasko, as well as the Baked Penne..the Beef Caldereta, as my husband puts it, is creamy and tasty.. perfect na panghanda for birthday parties!

Sati’s 4th Birthday Barbie Party

It’s been four years of pure happiness and bliss.. she really made our life complete and we can’t help but give in to her whims. Pede ba namang hindi? hahaha

So when she said, oh no.. I mean, when she planned her 4th birthday party and how it should go, we had to make it happen!

Cake should be Barbie

Venue: Tagaytay

We should decorate the room and wake her up and surprise her with the decors, cakes and so on..

Detailed party and she’s only four! I can’t imagine what will happen when she turns 7, malamang ang gagawin ko na lang eh maglabas ng pera at siya na bahala sa party nya hahaha

Booking for a nice hotel in Tagaytay was not easy. I know there’s a lot of hotels in Tagaytay but I want a hotel with a pool and a playground and not to mention affordable. My first option was Taal Vista (err minus the affordable criteria haha) but it was fully booked for the date that we need it. Hotel Kimberly Tagaytay comes next when you look for Tagaytay Hotel with playground but it was fully booked too (our chosen date was Nov 9-10).. realizing that we can’t have a hotel on the date that we want, we moved it to November 8-9.. and we’re set for Hotel Kimberly, Tagaytay (review of the hotel coming soon!)

Next on the list: the cake (Barbie fondant cake), decors and some party favors..

For her cake, there’s only one name that comes in mind.. Ava’s Cake! eh bakit hindi, we loved the Hello Kitty they did for Sati’s 3rd birthday.. bakit pa kame kukuha ng iba? even if the cake comes from Ilocos..sulit (umm aside from the fact na bias talaga ako sa mga tiga UP LOL #schoolpride! hahaha)

For the party favors, we had mallows, french macarons (ordered online), pretzels and some pink and white candies. And for the decors, well, in a span of 3 days, pinag tiyagaan ko aralin kung paano gumawa ng flower pom balls and added a twist to her S letter using decorated paper tapes from Stuffify.

And here’s the result of one week preparation for Sati’s 4th birthday party:

Eto ang kwento behind that table of surprise..

the table, we brought it along.. and the “tutu” table cloth, we made it ourselves.. when we arrived in Tagaytay, it was almost dinner time. We had our early dinner at The Grill (by Antonio’s>another review coming up) and we were stranded for an hour or so.. it was raining hard and zero visibility!

We arrived at the hotel past dinner time and I know the hotel has an indoor play room.. I told them to play at the indoor play room while I “decorate” the room for Sati’s party.. and after an hour, it’s ready!

And here’s the little prinsesa with her matching outfit.. which was not planned..it so happens that her ninang Liz from the US sent this dress to her.. sumakto di ba? nagmukha tuloy bonggang bonnga ang party ng dalaga namin 🙂

Pero after a minute, hinubad na ung dress nya at nagpalit na ng pants and her favorite yellow shirt 🙂

The fun continues the next morning..

At kahit bumabagyo, hindi rin nagpapigil ang mga bagets na mag swimming! At dahil ready ang nanay, Vitamins muna bago mag swimming sa mala yelong pool LOL

I boost muna ang immune system with Ceelin before swimming. Whenever we travel, I always make sure na we have Ceelin Chewebles on our bag (very convinient to bring at ipainom sa mga bata eh)

After checking out at Hotel Kimberly, we had lunch at Carlo’s Pizza:

they serve the best Buffalo wings! waaaaah this resto is now on our Tagaytay list (along with Hotel Kimberly and The Grill by Antonio’s)

On the way home, balak sana namin huminto sa The Original Buko Pie in Sta Rosa pero Pagoda Coldwave lotion na ang peg namin.. Hagarda much! I still need to read about flip door at ovisonline.com.

The little girl seems very happy and satisfied with her party.. so I guess, it’s a job well done for me!

One hygiene pack costs P100 or $2.50.
