How To Choose The Best Homecoming Dress According To Your Body Type

You’re jumping with excitement because of that Homecoming invitation, but the cold, hard truth dawns on you: YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR! Shopping for the perfect homecoming dress can sometimes be daunting, especially if you have a barely perfect figure. Arm yourself with the following knowledge on choosing an evening dress for your body type:

pink short homecoming gown

If you’re petite, stay away from those long ball gowns with full skirts. You don’t want to be overpowered by the dress. Look instead for a shorter dress which will show off your legs. Pair it off with stilettos for extra height.

On pear-shaped bodies, a dress with a fitted bodice and an A-line skirt helps minimize the size of the hips. A wide, metallic belt will help emphasize your small waist.

If you have a wide torso, you have an apple-shaped body, and should go for homecoming dresses with empire waists. This will take the focus away from your upper body.

What will look good on all body types is the classic wrap dress, which DressFirst has a lot to offer. It gives the illusion of a tiny waist, tapers the hips and emphasizes the bust.

That “Imported” Smell

He just got back from his trip abroad, we’re all happy and excited to see him, specially the third son who never stopped counting the days and number of sleeps. Last night, the third boy can’t even sleep, he said he’s too excited, so we end up watching Jack The Giant Slayer (too bad no popcorn this time).

You know what I love most when he comes home from his trip? The smell of his used clothes. It somehow gives me an idea of the place he had been to. If you are not keen on observing it, the smell of used clothes or anything that someone brought from their tip actually smells like the place they have bee to. Of all the places he has been, it’s his US trip that I always froward to. I love the US smell (or Canada or country with cold weather).

That’s one of the reason why I love online shopping, when the item arrives here, I can’t stop smelling that distinct “imported” smell (yes even nuts or bolts). Somehow, that smell brings me back to my childhood where my aunts would send us something from Canada. It has the same distinct smell and as my brother puts it, that smell is addicting (and online shopping too! haha)

Proper Hand Washing and Proper Tooth Brushing

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you!

one more time!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you!

So who’s birthday is it again? none! hahaha well this is a birthday where instead of blowing a candle, we’re blowing away germs!

In one of their books, in was mentioned that ins hand washing, one should clean the happy birthday song twice, to make sure the hands were cleaned thoroughly. Ever since they learned about that, they been singing the HBD song every time they wash their hands. It was also mentioned when we should wash our hands:

Wash hands before eating and after eating.

Wash hands after handling garbage.

Wash hands after playing.

Wash hands after touching animals.

Wash hands after using the bathroom.

How important is hand washing? It prevents the transfer of germs from one person to another. And by hand washing we can help stop the spread of diseases!

Now, let’s move on to proper brushing of teeth. In a morning show from a local channel, I heard that brushing should be at least 2 minutes. How can we track that two minutes? Use a timer perhaps? err hassle! How about the HBD song? Good idea, don’t you think? Well, the HBD song is about 10-15 seconds.. so a 2 minute brushing should be 12x HBD song.. ay ang dami! hahaha

From the same morning show, the proper brushing technique was also demonstrated:

  1. Brush the outer of surface of your teeth in circular motion.
  2. Brush the inner surface of your teeth in push and pull motion.
  3. Brush the chewing surface of your teeth in push and pull motion.
  4. Brush your tongue.

For a two minute brushing, here is my suggestion:

  1. Brush the outer surface of your teeth singing Happy Birthday (one for front, one for left side and one for right side)
  2. Brush the inner surface of your teeth singing HBD song (twice on the lower surface and twice for the upper)
  3. Brush the chewing surface of your teeth singing the HBD song (one from each: lower right side, upper right side, lower left side, upper left side)
  4. Brush your tongue with one HBD song.

Kinda confusing at first but after sometime, your kids will get used to it.

So what’s the importance of brushing the tongue? This is done so as to remove the bacteria in our tongue that may cause bad breathe.  Aside from tongue brushing, we also use mouthwash to prevent bad breath. We use Swish Mouthwash because it is alcohol free, perfect product for the kids.

Here’s an info from Swish Mouthwash Facebook Page:

SWISH is an ALCOHOL-FREE oral care brand. It has SureFresh that helps fight bad breath, plaque and gingivitis for long-lasting fresh breath. It comes in four refreshing and exciting flavors: Peppermint Fresh, Arctic Chill, Cinnamon Blast, Mangosteen Mint and Icy Choco Mint.

Since it is alcohol-free, it is safe and healthy. Even diabetics, children above 6 years old and even pregnant women can enjoy Swish alcohol-free mouthwash.

Our favorite is Swish Mouthwash in Arctic Chill.
