Define Fun Run: Run United 1!

I can say this gotta be the most fun run I joined since we started last year.. I ran with one of my closest friend, Mommy Levy. It was my first time to run 5k.. was really nervous and thought of backing out hehehe good thing, when we arrived at MOA, I spotted Levy and we run together (15 minutes late!). It was super fun pala running with a friend.. specially if that friend is Madamme Levy.. Our 5k run was like, jog, walk, talk then laugh.. at natapos namin ang 5k in less than an hour with that formula! We could have walked the whole 5k stretch, pero mga teh, inspired kame to jog or run whenever there’s a camera, so thank you to the cameramen, you made our 5k run shorter.

tuwang tuwa naman kami ni Madamme at inabot namin ang 4k! hahahaha
We made it before the 500 m dash.. first born and second born run with the other kid runners and I accompanied my two youngest.. a 500 m dash that took almost 30 minutes, no thanks to the moody princess and her orange hat hahaha

finish line, at last!

at hindi pa din naubos ang iyak nya after 500m hahaha

We were not able to go around the active health village..sayang as there were so many activities for the kids pa naman. Our whole RU1 experience was great but I hope they can improve more in terms of handling the 500m dash event:

  • It would have been better if the daycare is near the starting line. It was such a hassle bringing the kids from the day care to the starting line.. Another thing, since they also have a holding area near the starting line, they could save a lot of man power if the daycare is near and will also serve as a holding area. Also, since the starting line is also the same area as the finish line for other events, parents with kids on the day care wouldn’t have a hard time going to their kids (to prepare them for the 500mdash) if the daycare is near the area.
  • I also noticed that the security was more relaxed. In the last few runs we attended, you cannot easily fetch your kid from the holding area without showing the matching wrist tag.. this year this was not practiced.. and my husband even commented that my first born just went straight to him.

Lastly, the new Dtag system is not a good one.. well from my expereince as the Dtag of my first born fell while he was running.. and I also noticed a few Dtags while running.. the last Dtag system was better. So I hope they’d improve it the next run.

I hope on RU2, we can see a few changes for the good.. and yes. we’re all excited na for that and hopefully we can stay longer to try out some games from the sponsors.

The Princess and Her Orange Hat!

Our Run United 1 experience was a pleasant one.. well except for the almost 30 minutes 500m dash.. which was more like a patience test for me hahahhaa

The princess loved her orange hat but she’s very conscious with it.. and she’d throw tantrums every time the hat is misplaced on her head.. we had 10 or more stops during the dash trying to fix her hat…such a moody girl!

When we got home, her mood changed (after sleeping for 6 hours! so that’s where the tantrums came from.. lack of sleep hehe).. she posed for the camera wearing the hat in different ways.. isn’t she adorable?

The Summer Ride

Once in our trip in San Juan, La Union, I saw a few locals riding an ATV  in the sand. I am guessing it’s the best best atv in the area, it looks new too! Now, that makes me wish, I have one or we can rent one to complete our beach adventure.

All-terrain vehicle (ATV for short) is also known as quad bike. Usually this kind of vehicle is single seater but atv side by side are designed to hold not just the rider but one passenger as well. As the name says it, this vehicle is made to handle any kind of terrain which other vehicles cannot. I am not sure if it is legal to drive an ATV on the road but I have seen a hisun atv here in our subdivision. Maybe on national road, it is not permitted, more on super highways.

I maybe generalizing, but I would like to call ATV as the summer ride. We know how summers are; swimming, outing, trekking and  almost any adventure one can imagine. And with the ATV being able to navigate in almost any kind of terrain, this is your perfect ride. Use it in the beach, on dirt roads or even when visiting towns (just make sure that it is legal).

Here in the country, ATV rentals are popular near beach resorts. In Boracay, if you want to trek Mt Luho, you will need an ATV. ATV rentals in Boracay ranges from 300 PhP and up. In La Union, ATV rentals is 350 and up and depends on the number of kilometers you will use it. In Tagaytay, ATV rentals is at 400 for 30 minutes and 700 for an hour.

If you are thinking of buying an ATV, the prices goes from 400K and up. And yes, like any vehicle, you need a driver’s license to drive one.
