Welcome to Fantasy World

The introduction of the X box in 2001 paved the way for a new term in the English vocabulary, ‘Gamers’. This breed appears to revel in a world of superheroes, daring do and all manner of fantastical adventures.

Invention

The range of X box games is vast. Many of the original games were based on Dungeons and Dragons but the games have evolved, as has the sophistication of X Box software. It’s not just gamers who enjoy using this device. The new generation of X Box consoles allow total inter connectivity and has diversified from fantasy games to exercise routines; storylines based on cinema films using the original characters from a particular film as well as exciting car races and games for children.

Games

The image of the lonely geek playing a non stop diet of games in their bedroom is slowly changing as the new generation of Xbox 360 allows the whole family to join in and play any number of adventures. Halo allows the players to shoot everything and anything and is based in the world of sci-fi and space. It’s quite surprising how addictive the games can become; possibly due to the competitive nature of the storylines.

Of course, these first-person-shooters aren’t the only option and for those after something a little different, the new range of motion controlled fitness games are a great option for those who want to get fit and have fun indoors. The ability to connect with other players over the internet has also propelled growth in the industry as online gaming slowly becomes the norm. If a player logs in online he or she can find himself or herself playing against anyone in any part of the world and these global players often enter into mammoth sessions that can last for days. Of course, the winner can then proclaim that they really are ‘King of the World’ – at least digital.

Children

Originally aimed at children, games consoles have evolved to widen their target audience but there is still a variety of games for children. Both Toy Story and Mickey Mouse have entered the gaming arena and children can either spend time playing by themselves or join the rest of the family for collective fun. The games allow the child to actually become their own favourite hero for a short time and as long as they realise this is just a game, an Xbox 360 can provide a lot of entertainment.

Cutting the Cost of Raising Kids

A Liverpool Victoria survey on the cost of raising a child in the UK put the figure at a whopping £218,000[1], which equates to around £10,400 per year. Now many parents, especially those with two, three or more kids, will be asking themselves if it really does cost that much and, if so, how have they managed to avoid bankruptcy so far!

While the figures include education and childcare costs for the average child, and these may not apply, the fact is that kids can be expensive! There are, however, many ways to cut the costs of raising kids, so don’t put the little ones on eBay just yet!

Clothing Costs

Clothing costs are a biggy, with parents spending an average of £10,781 per child to adulthood[2]. While kids may have strong ideas about wanting the follow the latest fashions, it is possible to kit kids out on a bargain budget.

Supermarkets are a fantastic place to pick up trendy, good quality children’s clothing at bargain prices. The George at ASDA range is especially varied – sure to have something for even the fussiest of little fashionistas!

When it comes to kitting kids out with the basics, you can replace that worn or outgrown school uniform for less at the great value George school uniform shop.

Food Costs

Growing kids can be hard to fill, as well as hard to please! This is backed up by the fact that the average child costs a total of £18,667 to feed[3] – that’s a whole lot of chicken nuggets!

Take your grocery budget in hand by planning your meals to prevent overspending on impulse buys. Seek out the 2 for 1 deals, but only if you are going to use what you buy. A wasted 2 for 1 is no bargain!

Get the kids involved in the cooking to encourage them to eat what’s put in front of them. Homemade pizzas are easy and fun for little helpers to have a go at, whereas older kids can help you whip up an omelette or a simple sausage and bean casserole. Not only will this set kids up with great skills for life, it will also give them an appreciation of the effort, and cost, that goes into every meal.

Holidays and Entertainment

Holidays and leisure and recreation cost an average of nearly £23,000 per child, which is a huge amount when you start multiplying it for bigger broods[4]. With a little savvy deal hunting you can drive this cost down, however – it just means getting a little more creative than simply strolling into the local travel agents.

There are more daily deals websites around than ever, and they can be a great place to find bargain holidays or deals on family days out.

You’ll also often find special offers on theme park tickets and the like on cereal packets and in the newspapers, so look out for those to drive down to cost of keeping the kids happy and occupied through summer.

While there’s no escaping the fact that raising kids is an expensive business, there are many ways to cut costs without cutting corners. Shop around and your family will fit your budget, no matter how tight that might be.

The EX We All LOVE!

Let’s talk about EX!

DSC_0539

A North Luzon lover here.. being raised in Central Luzon, you can’t blame me for loving North Luzon more than any other tourist destination in the country.. and yes, going home and visiting North Luzon is a breeze, specially when SCTEX started operating.. un lang pag nag crave ng balot at hotdog ang mga bagets, sa Bulacan pa din ang daan namin.. sarap kaya ng balot at hotdog sa Baliwag stop over 🙂

Kung meron lang Express way to Baguio no? ay wait! meron pala! Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (aka TPLEX). I learned about this last Holy Week. TPLEX is an 89 kilometer 4 lane expressway..heard that it will be full operational this year.. but I doubt it.. seeing the progress they made from our last travel to last week. malabo yata.. and heard rumors na maraming pang right of way ang hindi ayos.. we can wait.

TPLEX will have 12 exits (wiki entry):

  1. Tarlac
  2. Tarlac Central Toll Plaza
  3. Victoria
  4. Gerona
  5. Paniqui
  6. Moncada
  7. San Manuel
  8. Carmen
  9. Rosales
  10. Urdaneta
  11. Pozzorubio
  12. Rosario

TPLEX starts where SCTEX ends (Tarlac exit)…based on what I have seen.. babaybayin nito ang kabukiran sa kanang bahai ng Tarlac (if you’re facing north).. we passed by a few constructions in Victoria and Moncada… the only advantage of TPLEX.. no more old houses scenes..bukid everywhere!

And while reading about TPLEX, I learned about Tarlac-Nueva Ecija-Aurora Expressway, a 60Km planned expressway that will make travelling to Aurora faster and hopefully safer! weeeh ang saya lang ng mga EX na to!
