How to Sell an Unwanted Car

An unwanted car can sometimes seem like an albatross around your neck. There are many reasons you might want to get rid of a car. These mainly include relocation or lack of funds for a car. The most annoying thing is, as long as you have a car you don’t need, you are potentially losing money with car tax, insurance etc. If you are in the position where you are really anxious to get rid of your vehicle, here are some ideas to get you started.

If there has been a death in the family.
Mourning is of course a really hard time and there are many things that families need to sort out during this period. Getting rid of a redundant vehicle need not be a massive worry. A lot of families sell cars within the family unit and share the money, another great idea would be to get the car in local newspapers, local buyers are able to come and view the car quicker.

Can no longer afford.
In this instance it is important to get rid of your car as soon as possible. The usual selling avenues may take a little longer so why not use online buyers We Will Buy Your Car. They will take any car off your hands and the money will be in your bank account on the same day.

Relocating
The best idea to get rid of a vehicle if you are relocating, whether it be to somewhere else in the country or if you are moving abroad, is to use online platforms. You may have a little more time to get everything sorted if you know you are relocating, so try to get the best price you can on online auctions and reputable car resale sites.

Increasing your car mileage

Fuel seems to be getting more expensive by the minute, which has given motorists reason to accept the inevitability of paying more at the pumps, or so it would seem. At a time when car owners are faced with having to tighten the purse strings, it might seem impossible to save money on fuel when the price seems to be rising ever higher, but you can save the amount of petrol or diesel you use for your car simply by changing the way your drive. It’s as simple as performing a vehicle check with Auto Trader.

The first thing you could look at is how fast your drive. It’s a well-known fact that the faster you drive, the more fuel you use. Simply by slowing down a little while driving up and down a motorway or dual carriageway by around 10mph on long journeys, the fuel that’s currently in your tank could last a little longer.

Another thing you could look at is trying to look for shorter routes to regular destinations. If there are some available, it might be worth considering going that way instead of the one you presently use. Providing those short-cuts are legal, they help you to save fuel as well as time.

Something else you should do to conserve fuel is look at all the short journeys you take which last about two or three minutes. If you decided to walk instead, it will save you a lot of fuel in the long run. Driving sensibly is the best thing you can do to cut down of your petrol bills and doing so will make life a little bit easier.

POTW: Time Saver Plastic Cover

2 years ago, I wrote this: (titled: I Hate PLASTICS!!!!)

Don’t tell me you don’t.. because I won’t believe you. I really really hate plastic. It can always break my day. It can ruin my life and it brings out the the worst in me. Whenever I encounter plastic, I curse, I think of how stupid I can be.. I blame myself for letting plastic ruin my day. I blame myself for allowing everything.. I blame myself for not listening to my instinct..

Does it ever happened to you? When you are in doubt and yet you go on. Your instinct telling you otherwise but you just go on. And then.. you realized, your efforts are turned into waste.. You just realized that whatever you do, you just can’t fit in everything? And then you blame yourself.. why does it have to happen to you when in fact you could have done something to prevent it.. why you?

After that article, it was never the same, I learned from mistake.. that one meter of plastic cover can over 8 books..

But this year was different, specially when I saw this:

How can I resist the TIME SAVER, time saving, zero waste description?!? It was so darn hard! Not to mention that these plastic covers are cut specially for books.. so I just bought 4.. that’s 29 PhP per roll (not bad huh, considering one meter of plastic cover is at 25 hP)

The verdict?

As you can see in the photo, it’s a bit big to cover a book.. well that’s for someone who only allow an inch extra when covering books, if you’re on the generous side, the size is perfect.

A roll is 5 meters by 13.5 inches and it can cover 10 books, for regular sized notebooks, it can cover 20. Comparing it to a one meter roll of plastic cover that can cover 8 books (at 25 PhP), obviously the Time Saver plastic cover is much better at 29 PhP and can cover 10 books. Not to mention that, the Time Saver being pre cut that way takes the hassle of bringing home a long roll of plastic cover that might bend along the way. And of course the fact that cutting time was lessen.. talk about saving!

Oh I wish I had known about this product a few weeks ago.. mas maaga ko sana na share sa inyo..

anyways for those not done with covering the books yet, I highly recommend this product.

We bought it at National Bookstore.

———————————-UPDATE! UPDATE!———————————-

(June 2014)

2 years after I wrote this.. I discovered that Time Saver Plastic Cover now has 3 variants:

  • plastic cover for notebooks (writing, composition, spiral notebook)
  • plastic cover for college notebooks
  • plastic cover for books

at nagmahal na din sya!!! from 29Php, ang cover for books e 42.75 na siya! Siguro nagmahal din ang plastic cover no?

But I am still going to use this brand.. mga inay!! 30+ books at 30+notebooks and kailangan ko i cover this year!!! aruguy!!
