A Creative Afternoon At Global Art

Does it have different sizes? Different directions? Different objects and shapes? Cropping? Layering? Overlaping?

That’s the checklist Global Art teaches to their students. And my boys got to experience a session at Global Art last week. MY first born got some tips on how to create his own illustration with an apple theme:

His illustration was about apples and how eating apples hurts his teeth. The right one was his illustration before he was taught techniques and the left one was his illustration after techniques was taught to him. As you can see on, there was different sizes on his 2nd illustration, there was different objects and shape, there was cropping and there was layering too (although his illustration has no different directions). There was a big difference in the before and after and the session didn’t even last an hour. I can just imagine how much my kid can learn from Global Art program.

That’s my second born (with the burger clay that they created), on his left arm is his art work where he learned about colors and shadings.

And while the boys were busy, I was on the other room with the mommy bloggers as Teacher Yenny Saw explained to us the different programs Global Art offers.

Global Art programs includes Core Program, Advanced Level, Craft Projects and New Programs.

Core Program is divided into 3 categories:

  • Foundation level 1 to 4 (ages 4- 6 years old) simple themes with dotted lines. Designed to build a child’s dexterity ad teach the concept of colors and shading.
  • Basic Level 1 to 3 (ages 7- 10 years old) introduction to creative drawing, using themes from fruits and animals to lead them to create their own illustrations while learning various techniques.
  • Intermediate Level 4 to 6 (ages 10 to 12 years old) further developing creative drawing. Students learn even more techniques by handling more difficult human figure- based themes.
Advanced Level includes: Sketching, Painting and Illustration. Their additional programs includes: Cartoon and Comic (ages 7 and above) G-Clay and acrylic painting.

Global Art was founded by Mahair Goh in Malaysia in 1999. Now it has branches all over the world, 16 counties including the Philippines. The Global Art Philippines HQ is in San Juan and has branches all over Metro Manila and one in Davao. If you are planning to enroll your kid at Global Art this summer check out their promos (as I have seen a lot) and other offerings this summer by visiting Global Art Facebook Page.

Run United 1: Our First Fun Run Experience

March 4, 2012. Mall of Asia. Run United 1. 500 m Dash

That’s my second son on the photo. He’s a typical child, only active when it’s wrestling time with his older brother.. he loves playing though but you can’t consider him sporty.. he was actually scared that day.. afraid he would not be able to finish the race… but he did!

For my first born, it was a different story.. he is competitive, excelling on his studies and still managed to play basketball and always ready for any physical activity. Sadly, I never got the chance to catch his running gig…. the boy runs fast..less than 3 minutes for 500m dash.. and that was his first time.

Mine was another thing. I joined the 3k run and oh boy it was exhausting! I managed to finish it a little over 30 minutes and I am first timer too! It was really a first time experience for us to join a fun run. And for a family who was not that active, we really took some time off to prepare for the run. Almost every day (two weeks prior to the run) we would run around Pasig Rainforest, test our endurance and see how much we can do. For the first few days, I survived with the help of Alaxan FR.. after a week, my body’s adapting. When we started practicing, I can only run/jog/walk for 600 m but 2 weeks after, I was able to finish a 3k run! That’s quite an achievement for me. The same goes to my second born as I mentioned he is not that active. The first few days of our practice, he would have a hard time running around the 240 meter oval at the Rainforest. He finished a 500 meter dash and I was so proud of him. As for my first born, I kinda expected that he can do it real fast, I just didn’t expect that he can outrun me.

Here are some of our photos from Run United 1:

My boys with Nina and her son together with the other kids running for the Ceelin 500m dash.

My sister with her son and my second born finishing the race:)

The boys at the 500m dash finisher’s safety booth (?) I don’t what it is called but that was a secured place where the kids went after the race. Accompanying adults need to claim their child/kid before the staff let the child go. You have to show the claim stub to the staff. And that’s a really cool move for me.. but there is a tiny hassle on this one. I just noticed that for parents to fetch their kid/s they need to walk a few meters and go through the expo. I wish on the next run, they would provide a small opening where parents can go inside so as to fetch their kid/s. And oh, another thing I noticed, the 500m dash started late. The assembly time was supposed to be 6 AM and the gun shot was at 7 AM but it started around 7:30. I guess some kid runners need to wait for their parents to finish their respective race..But I have to commend what they did during the run as they sort the kids base on their ages.. kids ages 9-12 (boys) run all at the same time, then followed by girls ages 9-12, then boys 4-8, then girls 4-8.

There was so much going around the expo but we never had the chance to roam around.. with these two Ceelin protektodo toddlers in tow.. it’s not just possible.. specially that we drag them from the custom mattress at 4 in the morning.. Lesson learned.. leave the toddlers at home unless they will be joining the run 🙂

Our experience was so much fun that we will be joining the Run United 2 2012.. definitely! I’d still go for 3K.. my goal is to lessen my run time.. the kids would still go for 500m. Maybe next year, we will join a different category or we might even join the 21k run.

and yes, this will be the start of   more fun run ahead.

POTW: Cradle Toy and Surface Cleaner

I never heard of toy cleaner or surface cleaner that’s safe for the kids. I usually use plain water and soap to clean their toys.. of course that’s very limiting as battery operated toys can’t be cleaned that way. Aside from that, it can be really tiring. I remember last year, it took me almost a day to clean their Mega Blocs, a few more hours to dry it up. The discovery of Cradle Toy and Surface Cleaner made a big difference in terms of toy cleaning.

I got it first when MomCenter send a bottle to me as a token for being one of their blog partner. That time, I gave the product one look and stashed it on our cabinet. When my husband gave in to the princess’ playhouse demand, Cradle Toy and Surface Cleaner came in.

It would not be that easy to clean the little playground we have here and the rubber mats will also take a lot of time. After a day of riot and dirt here and there when I remembered the cleaner that Momcenter sent.

Cradle Toy and surface cleaner has no harsh chemical, no alcohol, no synthetic fragrance, no synthetic preservatives and yet sanitizes their toys and playground. How is that so? It has a natural Antibacterial Agent ffrom Honeysuckle plant, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Honeysuckle Essential oil and orange flavor.

I use it to clean and sanitize their Little Tikes Activity Gym, playhouse and Totter. I also use it to clean the rubber mat (and wash it with soap and water only once a month, reducing it from 4 times a month). I just spray the cleaner and wiped it with a clean cloth.

I haven’t tried using it to stuff animals and other soft toys but it says on the bottle that to use it with soft toys and fabrics, just spray it on the material and air dry. For battery operated toys, just spray it and wipe until the toy is dry.

I love the smell, so fresh and clean. There was a hint of orange and I really like it, not to strong.

Cradle Toy and Surface Cleaner can be bought in a 500 ml spray bottle for a little over 200 PhP (I’ll update when I got the exact amount). I bought mine from the Grand Baby Company Fair.

our wall is white (as white as the shirt at diamond supply) and dirt free (second photo) want to know what product we used to clean the mess? Read on our Product of the Week last Wednesday 🙂 Watch out for our Product of the week next week!

If you want your products here, send us a sample and we’ll take a look on it.
