Celebrate Valentine’s with Hallmark

Love comes in different ways. In different forms, in different places, and in different moments. See, love doesn’t always equate to romance. It may not always be visible, but it’s always there—in the form of your friend’s sweet smile, mom’s comforting hug, or dad’s gentle reminders to always take care of yourself. The point being, love is there whenever and wherever we decide to give and share it.

This Valentine’s Day, Hallmark is making it their mission to #GiveLoveShareLove. On February 14, Hallmark will be at MRT Cubao station and giving away 10,000 free single journey tickets and Hallmark Valentine’s day cards. As an additional treat, a prize of a buffet dinner for two will also be given to 10 lucky winners. Passengers must like Hallmark Philippines on Facebook, post a photo of the Hallmark Valentine’s Day Card, and tag his/her special someone with a Valentine’s Day message with the hashtag #HallmarkGiveLoveShareLove.

The day will be made sweeter by social media influencers and real life couples, David Guison and Vina Guerrero, along with Trice Nagusara and Seph Cham, who will be there to give out the single journey tickets and Hallmark cards.
Moreover, a singing flash mob will liven up the MRT platform area to serenade passengers before they board the train.

For your special someone, Hallmark will also be selling flower bouquets and letter chocolates in the following SM Stationary branches: SM Las Piñas, SM Mall of Asia, SM Makati, SM Aura Premiere, SM Megamall, and SM North EDSA, available in single stem, three stem, or half-dozen bouquets beginning tomorrow, February 12 until 14. Add in a sweet note on a Hallmark card, because nothing is more romantic than handwritten letters.

Sure, love should be shown every day. But there’s nothing wrong with celebrating it a little louder on Valentine’s Day. On this dear day, may all feel a little extra loved—in the most unexpected time, at the most unexpected place.

5 Things You Need To Know Before Buying Pre-Owned House

A property seeker is always hesitant when it comes to buying second-hand homes. This is because such properties could eventually cost you a fortune in renovations if you are not cautious.

Spare yourself from possible buyer’s remorse. PSBank, through its “Good to Know” campaign, help you spot a gem among wide choices of pre-owned houses with these tips:

Know where to look. The best places to find pre-owned real estate properties for sale are banks and local government institutions such as the Home Development Mutual Fund or PAG-IBIG. Check out their website and you’ll find the best property deals. There are also property auctions that these institutions organize. Some properties not normally listed in their websites are being auctioned here.

Schedule a visit or inspection. Determine the real condition of the house yourself by asking a professional inspector for help. Check if the basic structure, floor plan and infrastructure remain sturdy and durable. Ensure that there’s electrical and plumbing system installed, rooms are well-proportioned and there are no bad cracks or serious leaks. A great buy would be one with no major fixes and you’ll be able to move in to your new home soon.

Consider the location. The location is just as important as the house itself. If it is located within a good school system, a nearby transportation, market or grocery, then finding a home priced to accommodate the necessary updates could be a good deal.

Verify documents. Check the title and latest property tax receipt. The title will not only tell you how old the property is but it will also let you know if the property had a chain of previous owners.

Check the market value of the property. To ensure that you will not be paying more than you should, go through the current price trends and get an estimate or seek an expert to help you evaluate the second hand property against similar properties in the area.

Buying an excellent pre-owned property or a second-hand home entails lots of patience and due diligence. However, getting it for a bargain price should be more than enough motivation and be able to convince you that what you purchased is more than what you paid for. You really just need to know where to look.

PSBank is currently offering significant discount on its already low-priced pre-owned real estate properties for sale.

Buyers looking for quality and affordable pre-owned condominium units, houses and/or lots will enjoy 20% to 25% discount on selected properties when they purchase from December 4, 2018 to March 4, 2019.

Aside from this great deal, you are assured of “clean” pre-owned properties for sale. This means that each property in PSBank’s list of Real Estate Properties for Sale has a registered title and a tax declaration consolidated under the Bank’s name. Plus, all properties are free from any legal issues and are already in the possession of the Bank.

To avail of the promo, you simply need to submit a completely filled-out Offer to Buy form and Buyer’s Information Sheet to PSBank Asset Sales Department, at any nearest PSBank branch, or via the Bank’s accredited brokers. You also have the option to make their purchase in cash or by applying for a PSBank Home Loan with Prime Rebate.

PSBank Home Loan with Prime Rebate offers low interest rates, convenient payment modes, and flexible payment terms. Applicants will also get a credit decision within five banking days or less via SMS. Borrowers can also save money by paying early or before the due date or by paying more than their monthly loan amortization. PSBank Home Loan has the Prime Rebate feature allowing home loan clients to earn rebates in the form of “interest discount” on any advance or excess payments made on the loan. Over time, clients could use the rebates to lower the loan principal, shorten the loan term, or even both.

Globe At Home Effective Online Parental Control Tip

While parents try to teach their kids discipline and discernment in real-life situations, another area that needs their attention and guidance is how their children interact online. Since the internet is abound with an interminable supply of information and chances for interaction, parents need to exercise a considerable yet respectful level of control as regards to their child’s internet usage to protect them from risks present in the World Wide Web.

This is a pressing issue especially for a digital native-filled market such as the Philippines. In 2018, a study conducted by international think tank DQ Institute showed that the average Filipino child spends 34 hours per week in front of digital screens for entertainment, two hours higher than the global average. Filipinos aged 8-12 years old are also more exposed to “unhealthy habits of digital usage” as well as to cyber risks such as cyber bullying and online sexual behavior as shown by their screen time score of 96 which is lower than the global average of 100.

While there are so many wonders that the internet has brought, there are real dangers when children are left totally unsupervised in their use of it. While there is no denying that the internet has become their go-to hub for information, games and interaction through social media, parents should always keep their children’s curiosity in check.

With this goal, Globe launched “#Rated PC (Parental Control)”, an advocacy campaign to emphasize among Globe At Home Postpaid subscribers and other Filipino parents and guardians the importance of parental supervision with regard to children’s internet use.

“It may not be enough to just teach kids about whom to talk to, safety in and out of the home, what to read or watch on TV; parents should also guide their kids when it comes to their online experience,” explains Martha Sazon, Senior Vice President and Head of Broadband Business of Globe Telecom. “#Rated PC aims to educate and empower these parents in how they can maximize the benefits of their kids’ internet usage such as learning and collaboration while minimizing risks and dangers present in the online world.”

For implementing effective and easy parental control, Globe At Home offers some quick tips:

Limit Screen Time

Perhaps limiting their screen time can do the trick, except when it involves real school work. With this, they can learn to manage their screen time efficiently by dividing their allowable time between school assignments, research, play or simply surfing the web.

Protect Identity and Security

Emphasize the importance of protecting their privacy and identity by not giving out personal information like their passwords to unknown sites or digital strangers. More importantly, just as they are taught about “stranger danger” in reality, they must learn that this applies in the online world as well. It’s like teaching them not to divulge their personal information to people they meet for the first time and not going anywhere with a stranger.

Check Sources

While the internet is deemed a source of information, it can also be a platform for mis- or dis-information, which is why the phrase “Fake News” was born. Teach children to check sources and go to credible sites for news. From time to time, kids should be reminded that not everything they see or read online is true.

Online responsibility

If the practice of observing courtesy and respect at home, school or other places is encouraged among children, the same should be done whenever they are online. Children should be taught the basics of exercising courtesy when it comes to communicating online, either with their peers or older individuals, as if they are speaking to the one at the other end of the line in person. No vulgar or hurtful words, profanities, body shaming, name calling or “cyberbullying” and other hurtful actions.

Activate parental control

Online vigilance is certainly not easy for a parent who already has so many concerns in managing a household and caring for a family. However, there are several options for parents in order to help them with this concern.

Internet service providers usually bundle parental control features for their online service. The TP Link Device which is bundled especially for Globe At Home Postpaid subscribers is a great option.

It allows parents to easily set up controls for their kids to secure their online experience. With these features, parents and guardians can protect their kids from various online threats, safeguard their network from unwanted content, restrict or block access to unsuitable sites, deploy anti-virus software, manage all connected devices, and even enhance WiFi signal inside the home.
