10 Practical Ways To Be Green

Being green is my advocacy. It started when the flood hit us. It was shocking but I know it was also our fault. From then on, I stopped using plastic and encourage everyone to do so by giving away reusable bags. Now I want to reach to more people and help in making our planet a better place to live.

Here are 10 Practical Ways To Be Green

  1. Old clothes can be turned into rugs. You don’t have to buy rugs, just use scissors and tear your old clothes to the size of the rug that you need.
  2. Do not throw plastic bottles, you can sell it on junkyards or make use of it. Here, I use old plastic bottles as my seedlings pot.
  3. For your house cleaning needs, such as carpet cleaning, hire organic cleaners such nj carpet cleaner.
  4. Reuse old papers. Like what I did, some press release I have here were turned into loot bags, perfect for birthdays!
  5. Use ecobag/ reusable bags instead of using plastic bags.
  6. Buy eco-friendly and green products.
  7. On summer days, instead of using the dryer in full, use it only half or not use it all, let the natural heat from the sun dry your clothes.
  8. Shop online. Yes! it’s another way to be green. Shopping online means you don’t have to leave the house, no need to take the car and no need to use plastic.
  9. Make use of appliances wisely, specially air condition, fan and lights.
  10. Keep and collect (do not throw) old newspaper as this can be sold on junkyards.

The Metro Life

It was Christmas of 2010 when out of the blue, we decided to buy 2 150 square meters lot. It was really a spur of the moment decision and we end up paying the other lot in full while the other lot, we opted for a 2 year payment scheme (and we’re broke after that haha). Eventually, we decided that we’re not pushing through with our plans (well, as of now), and instead of building a house on the lot(s) we bought 2 years ago, we think it would be wiser to build/buy a house here in the Metro. When we’re done paying for the other lot, that would be the time that we will start looking for home mortgage company that would help us to decide which will be the better option for us. Mortgage has become the generic term for loan, but we know that in mortgage, there is always a collateral before you can avail of a loan.

There are so many reasons why we decided to live here midst  the flood that we had experienced 3 years ago. For one, we love the school here. We also love the fact that it feels like we’re in living in the province but it will only take a few minutes to access the city’s center.

Learning To Love The Dentist

As a child, I remember that I used to go to the dentist alone. I guess the thought of eating an ice cream after tooth extraction excites me. And that’s where I got the courage to go to the dentist alone. Of course, I want my kids to have the same courage as mine, not necessarily going to the dentist alone, but you know, at least not crying while sitting on the “chair”. I admit though, sitting on the dental chair makes me anxious. I guess that feeling will never go away, even if the dental clinic is as good as western dental. It must be the needles or the gadgets or the just like an ant bite (not!) anticipation.

From our recent visit to the dentist, I was told that the earlier you expose them to the dentist the better. As early as one tooth appear, bring them to the dentist just for familiarization sake. Bring them to the dentist every now and then every 2 months for the first 2 years and more frequent as their teeth starts to show signs of decay. I also learned that girls are braver than boys (as mentioned by our dentist, based on their patients most likely), so I guess I have to be prepared with screams and nos with my boys.
