How To Keep Your Man Happy

Being married for 10 years and being with him for 13 years, I have learned to accept things that I cannot change and learned to deal with him. And yes, after 10 years (which he jokingly said, sampung taong pagtitiis! haha) he already knows how to deal with my temper, my OCD and had developed a huge amount of patience (nyahahaha). It was not as smooth sailing as this a few years back.. it was a rough journey but thank goodness we both hold on to each other.

In our 10 years of being married, I also learned when to shut up and how to be a wife while  being a mother. Admit it moms, we have the tendency to take for granted our role as a wife as soon as we became a mom. Who’s to blame? those tiny hands and heartwarming giggles needs our time and affection more than the man of the house who is big enough to feed himself.. ummm quite right but does not work all the time.

Our husband needs us as much as our kids do.. and that goes from picking what shirt he would wear to picking up his shoes when he went home.. OK that’s an exaggeration (to some.. but normal here in my house LOL) but you get me, right?

My husband is a great provider, he works full time and gives us everything we need.. and he’s a very good spoiler! From toys to my whims (ehehe).. The only way I can thank him for being the best husband and daddy is to always make sure that he is happy.

And here are some ways that I do keep my man happy.

Feed him well. His mother and lola cooks very well and it was a challenge for me during our first few years of marriage. I know nothing in the kitchen department. I endure a lot of criticizing from him. He’d ask me how long I cooked the food, how high or how low the heat is, how I chopped the onions etc.. and when that’s how I learned how to cook. Now, even my friends, compliments my food, ayayay (buhatan ng bangko no hahaha). Feed him well by cooking his favorite dishes. Make sure that you know what kind of foods he prefers. Does he like eating breakfast? Does he like breads or pasta over rice (my husband is a rice lover. Does he likes coffee? My husband loves coffee and he usually ask for coffee 3 times every morning. And I always make sure that there’s a cup of coffee waiting for him when he wakes up. He loves eating Pinoy dishes like Kare-kare, mechado, beef stew and the likes so I learned how to prepare those dishes (well except for Mechado). And there were dishes that he likes but I am not fond of cooking.. but I still do cook those, just to make him happy.

Keep him healthy. Aside from feeding him well, I always make sure that he is healthy and have enough energy for the kids. And with four kids excitedly waiting for him, he really needs ENERGY. I rely with Enervon in keeping him healthy and energized as Enervon is a multivitamins that helps adults ensure optimum energy and increased body resistance against common sicknesses. Its combination of B-Complex Vitamins help optimize food into energy, while Vitamin C aids your body’s natural defense.

And he really needs to be healthy and be protected from sickness, josme, kumusta ang kabuhayan pag nagkasakit ang padre de pamilya?

Intimacy Level 100! (may exclamation point talaga no) I think this department is one of the most important in making your man happy. Be as naughty as he wants you to. Explore ladies.. read and research! Huwag ninyong ipagdamot ang katawan nyo sa asawa no.. Make time for him. Date him, go find a nice motel and spend the night with him. I admit it, it’s hard talaga, specially if you have kids.. eh lalo na kame, we have four! So just imagine.. sa gitna ng kasiyahan, may magigising, pag nakatulog na, magigising naman ang isa.. tapos iyong isa naman… tapos  iyong isa pa.. by the time na napatulog na silang lahat, waley na.. wala ng gana..

Of course we find ways.. dapat creative! and also our intimacy does not ends from love making. We have ways to make each other feel special. We do “special talk” online or offline. And on my part, I always make sure that I am sexyyah! yihaaay!

Let him be a kid. And yes, after all those intimacy talks, husband is still a kid at heart. So I let him be one. Allowing him to buy his own toys and be childish from time to time. Trust me, if you allow him to buy his stuff, he’d allow you to buy your stuff too (shopping! shopping!)

Lastly, let him be the boss… uh let me rephrase that.. let him THINK he is the boss. Don’t argue with him, say yes if it is agreeable and say OK if it’s not agreeable to you. Men knows the difference between a  yes and an OK hahaha

Aqiva Food Talk: Fight The Diet Shift

In the recent event “Food Talk” Aqiva helped us moms know more about “Diet Shift” and offer us empowering solutions to conquer this phase. Present during the event was  celebrity mom and TV host Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski who shared with us her own experience with Diet Shift,  “I have three boys, and my youngest, Renzo, is four years old. I noticed that Renzo is starting to prefer unhealthy food staples such as French fries and ice cream. I know people expect me to know how to teach Renzo to eat healthy because I’ve already experienced this with my other two boys. But the truth is, it’s not easy. It’s always a different challenge with each kid when it comes to mealtimes.”

Dr. Bernadette Benitez, a Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics Specialist who currently serves as the Medical Director of Wyeth Nutrition Philippines, and a consultant the Asian Hospital, Medical Center in Alabang, and Makati Medical Center shared with us that Diet SDhift is real and told the usual age when it occurs.

“It is normal for a child to go through a Diet Shift, as experimenting with new food, and developing tastes for new food, are all part of growing up. The problem is when the child gets exposed to more types of unhealthy food, and would start to prefer these over other food that are ideal for his age. This usually heightens at age 4, when he starts tasting sugary snacks from classmates, and begins craving for fried and crunchy food from the malls, etc. This is when parents should start monitoring their child’s intake of unhealthy food, and continue teaching them to eat healthy.” explained Dr. Benitez.

I can very well relate to what Dr Benitez said. My two older boy experienced this phase and my 3rd son just got out of this phase. My two older boys conquered diet shift easily but with my third son, it took a while and a lot of convincing. He now eats better and loves his veggies and fruits.

Ms. Luz Callanta, Nutrition Expert and Lecturer, discussed what are the nutrients that was commonly “lost” during this shift and the importance of this nutrients:

“Proper nutrition is needed, especially during the child’s growth and development years. This is when he needs most of the vitamins and nutrients, at the right levels. Unfortunately, this is the same time that the threat of the Diet Shift strikes, and gaps in nutrition may occur. It is essential at this stage to supplement at-risk nutrients in the child’s diet and nutrition,” says Ms. Callanta.

The event was not just about diet shift and nutrients, Celebrity Chef Jackie Laudico of Bistro Filipino taught us a few ideas on how to prepare food.. FUN ideas! great food presentation. “The best way to make children try healthy dishes is to make them interested in it. The food’s visual appeal helps in getting their attention, and eventually they would be willing to taste the healthy snack.” shared Chef Laudico.

Of course, when giving child friendly meals to your kid, always partner it with Aqiva. It is formulated with A.Q.I (Adequate, Quality and Important) Nutrients, AQIVA is packed with 40 ingredients including 25 essential nutrients, scientifically designed to support the child’s nutrition as parents teach them healthy eating habits, especially during the Diet Shift phase.

“Aqiva proudly takes on the advocacy of raising healthy children through healthy eating habits and proper nutrition. We want to help moms instill the importance and value of healthy eating in their children, and at the same time, we want children to enjoy their healthy meals–to actually like what they eat,” said AQIVA Senior Product Manager Carlo de la Paz.

Grocery Finds: Milo Freebies + Chicago Mix Popcorn + Ice Cream Maker

Happy Monday everyone! Let’s start our week with happy thoughts.. and some grocery finds:

Milo Freebies! Free canister for every 1Kg Milo.. it’s a perfect pair.. the canister can hold up to 1Kg Milo.. We already have two and the other one, I use their Milk. Aside from its big capacity, the container can be closed tightly, a big advantage specially that ants are everywhere!

Chicago Mix Popcorn! When hubby received a can of Chicago Mix Popcorn (Chicago Popcorn Shops), we went loco over this mix! Caramel Popcorn and Cheese Popcorn in one container.. the sweetness and the saltiness jives so well.. it’s mouthwatering! I spend a few hours looking for Chicago Popcorn Shops stall in Shangrila EDSA but to no avail.. the nearest I can get is at Trinoma.. which is not my area. I tried a few Chef Tony’s popcorn to satisfy that cravings but it was not just the same..

Then I found this!

On our way home from La Union, we stopped by at Shell of Asia and this big bag of popcorn caught my eyes! Ayayay! Chicago Mix for the win! This bag is contains 700+ grams of popcorn at PhP500+. It’s not as good as Chicago Popcorn Shops’ Chicago Mic but this will do.. until I can find a CPS stall near us (opppps..heard there’s one in Megamall now!!!! ayayay!)

Ice Cream maker (Popsicle Maker) from Saizen in Robinsons Galleria. Perfect for the kids this summer! And yesterday they made a mango ice cream using Mango powdered juice..later today, we’ll be having Milo Popsicle!
