Plastik Ka Ba? Weeeh Di Nga?!?

I had the chance to watch Cheche Lazaro presents Plastic Ka.

made me realize I should continue posting about my “manong wag mo na i-plastic” adventure to inspire more people to stop using plastic.

Opps. did I say stop using plastic? I take that back.. watching Plastik Ka, I have to agree on some points.. yes we cannot live without plastics.. and I am sharing with you some of the things that I can’t do without plastics:

  • frenemies… eek I was just joking hahaha
  • Milk Tea and float straw.. I don’t use straw on my drinks.. but with Milk Tea and Coke Float, is it really possible? I mean to enjoy the drink without the straw? Isn’t one of the most exciting part of drinking milk tea is the sinkers and how it goes through the straw.. ang saya di ba?
  • Plastic wrapper for books and notebooks.. self explainable.. paki explain sa katabi mo kung di gets.
  • Plastic on supermarket meats.. which I learned from Cheche Lazaro show, I can actually use my containers instead!

I did not include other plastic usage such as hanger, containers etc.. those are plastic made stuff that I really can’t live without..yes we cannot live naman without plastics.. but I think we can minimize the use of it. How?

Here are five ways to minimize the use of plastic without much hassle to your lifestyle:

  • if it is not milk tea or coke float, do not use straw.
  • when buying small medicine, don’t ask for plastic and if they put it in a small plastic, say you’ll just place it inside your bag.. those small plastic bags, it has no use, you can’t even reuse it.
  • avoid the “pakidoble” culture… that is common no? padoble ng plastic at baka mabutas.. as much as one plastic would do, let it be that way.
  • your garbage bin can live without plastic, so don’t make it a habit to line your garbage bag with a plastic. The thing is, because you are doing it, you will have the tendency to commit the “padoble” culture just to have more plastic that you can use to line your garbage bag.. gets?
  • when buying at convenience stores.. specially if you’re just buying a mineral water or a pack of something, that an do without using a plastic bag..

It’s not easy..as I have mentioned before, inconvenience is the price I have to pay to help save Mother Earth. It’s very inconvenient to bring your own ecobag, to bring your own container when shopping for meat and wet goods.. it’s not easy but inconvenience is a very small price.

I do agree, on the point that, plastic banning is not the ultimate solution, it was pointed out that other trash such as wood, old clothes have the tendency to sink at the bottom of the river.. and that only plastics are seen as the waste that clogs the river… making the metro more susceptible to flooding.. it’s all about waste management still and education. It was amazing what Villar Foundation has done to clean up their river and how they manage waste in their area..I hope this kind of waste management can be done in all parts of the metro (if only LGU will unite.. OK that’s another thing..)

Of course, waste management aside, minimal plastic use will be a great help…

How about paper bag? as one of the guest in Cheche Lazaro presents said, “basura pa din yon”….indeed..

Our Pop Rockin’ Field Trip Experience With VitaPops!

When we say field trip, it is almost always synonymous to fun, right? How about a Pop Rockin’ Field Trip?

A few weeks ago, we were invited to join a Pop Rockin’ Field Trip. I brought my two older boys of course and as soon as we hopped on the bus, the excitement begins!

The kids were treated with fun activities such as face painting and story telling, games and some dancing!

Moms, together with celebrity moms, Daphne osena-Paez and Donito Rose talked about parenting and how to be a seriously fun mom. Of course, health concerns were raised and the new vitamins in town, VitaPops, were also discussed. Dr. Liz Inciong, Associate Active Consultant at Institute of Pediatrics and Child Health, shared her knowledge on health and we were given a chance to ask more about VitaPops.

“To be healthy takes more than eating fruits and vegetables. Today, due to handling, processing and cooking, the
Vitamin C content in milk, fruits and vegetables is significantly reduced so eating these foods may not be enough to attain one’s recommended daily intake of Vitamin C, especially in children. It is important that moms ensure full Vitamin C protection to keep kids always healthy so they can accomplish a lot of things and enjoy more time with their family and friends,” explained Dr. Inciong. “In addition, kids are usually exposed to high levels of sugar because they are easily drawn to sweets and candies so it’s important for the parents to manage their children’s sugar intake and provide them with healthy food choices.”

We were also given a few samples to try VitaPops. Although I was given a sample prior to the event, it was the first time that I tried it! And my son was right! It feels like some ants crawling inside your head.. and as he puts it: “The popping experience is so much fun”

Daphne and Donita were also introduced as the official VitaPops celebrity moms because they embody what the brand advocates– seriously fun goodness – when it comes to parenting and in the products they choose when taking care of their kids. Donita and Daphne are fun moms who prioritize their children’s health and consider what their kids will enjoy. They know how to strike the right balance between fun and healthy.

Daphne and Donita shared their thoughts on VitaPops

“I like giving VitaPops to my children but what’s more amazing is how my kids love it! They immediately liked it the moment they first tried it. They like it so much that they immediately told their friends about it,” shared Daphne.

“VitaPops is the most fun and exciting Vitamin C in the market because it comes in pop-rocks format — it fizzles and pops inside the mouth. This makes taking Vitamin C an experience that kids will enjoy, while ensuring that they remain healthy as it boosts their immune system,”said Donita.

What I can say about VitaPops?

It was love at first site, err taste, for my boys! They liked it so much and really enjoyed the popping experience. And to prevent them from buying candies at school, I  give it to them as their “baon”. That’s two birds in one stone, vitamin c for their protection and a candy as a treat! Way to go Unilab!

The seriously fun mommy bloggers together with VitaPops ambassadors Daphne osena-Paez and Donito Rose
VitaPops is available in all leading drugstores nationwide. Price is 10PhP per sachet and taken orally, once up to twice a day.
Here are some FAQ for our mommies about VitaPops:

What is VitaPops?
VitaPops is the first & only Vitamin C in pop rocks format in the market that guarantees full protection while ensuring that kids enjoy the experience of taking it:
Vitamin C: protection from sickness
Pop Rocks Format: fizzles and pops inside the mouth for an enjoyable experience

Is VitaPops sweet like candy?
VitaPops contains just the right amount of sweetness so that kids will enjoy its taste. The best part about its sugar content is that it only contains 1/5 the sugar level found in regular vitamins, which reduces the risk of tooth decay.

Is VitaPops strictly for kids ages 7-12?
Children as young as four years old can already take and enjoy VitaPops.

Can my kids get overdosed with VitaPops?
No, Vitamin C is water soluble so any excessive intake will just be excreted through the urine.

How is it different from Ceelin Chewables?
We know the challenge of dealing with 7-12 year olds, we understand the need of moms to continue protecting their kids from sickness and keeping them healthy without the difficulty of giving vitamins/healthy food. We need to reward kids just to take what’s good for them. Finally, we have exactly what we need with with Ceelin Chewables as well as VitaPops — available in fun format options which guarantee full protection. Both are yummy and healthy for kids and are in formats that they love: chewable and pop rocks.

Vitamin C in VitaPops comes in which form?
VitaPops is in a non-acidic Sodium Ascorbate formulation. It doesn’t cause stomach irritation even if it is consumed on an empty stomach.

What is the shelf life of VitaPops? Because it’s made of granules, don’t they get sticky and solidify after sometime?
VitaPops is best consumed within 2 years from when it was produced. Solidification happens when the product is exposed to humidity and moisture. To prevent this from happening, we recommend keeping VitaPops in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

What makes VitaPops pop? Is that safe?
VitaPops is safe to take and is FDA-approved. It pops because when the granules that contain Carbon Dioxide come in contact with moisture, it dissolves and the gas escapes quickly producing a fizzing and popping sound.

Can my kids get allergies from VitaPops?
VitaPops is generally safe and does not cause any allergies. But it is still best to consult with your pediatrician.

How much Vitamin C can my child get from VitaPops? How does it compare to vegetables, fruits and milk?
1 VitaPops sachet contains 50 mg of Vitamin C and is equivalent to 5 glasses of milk / 28 pieces of calamansi / 1 ½ glasses of freshly squeezed orange.
