Anything mommy blogger related here. This features blog events coverage. This blog also publish press release and write ups. Tips and tutorials on how to be an effective blogger.

This also include a list of top mommy blog in the Philippines.

In addition, here is the 5 SIMPLE STEPS TO BE A MOMMY BLOGGER:

1. Create a blog name that will represent you as a mommy blog. Sometimes it's good to include the noun mommy or mother or nanay.

2. Create an email the same as your blog name for branding purpose, in other words, for identification. After that, you can proceed to step 3 which is actually one of the most challenging part.

3. Open a blog. It has been debated for so many times which is the best blogging platform to use. For starters, I usually recommend blogspot because it is free. On the other han, if you are ready to shell out money, wordpress org is the best.

4. Design your blog. This sound like an easy task to do, it is actually, however, it can be very time consuming. The number of free templates for a blog is endless. To help you decide, set your blog tone and color. Will it be a dark themed blog? Light? What will be the primary colors? And from there, searching will be easier.

5. Lastly and most importantly, Start writing. The best way to start this is to introduce yourself. Likewise, you can also create a list of why you started a mommy blog. Or you can mention top 10 things that you would want your future readers to know about you.

Candy Corner and Wonka: Wonka Imaginarium

When I got an invite for Willy Wonka’s Imaginarium, I immediately asked  if I can bring the kids along (and another Mommy blogger, which is my sister).. I know the kids will love theis event and will have a great time exploring the Imaginarium. And they were all glad that they can come along.

“The Wonka Imaginarium is the first of its kind in the Philippines, and we’re happy to be doing this in time for the holiday season,” shares Ricky Andres, President of Candy Corner Philippines. “More than just giving everyone a chance to get to know more about Wonka candies, our main goal is to give people of all ages a great avenue to feed their imagination and to find a different, unique activity for the whole family to share this Christmas.”

It is a four day exhibit, December 1-4, where the spotlight is on for Wonka Candies. This exhibit is a partnership with Candy Corner and Wonka, a place where they harvests dreams and turns them into candies.

The kids had so much fun with the big bug, ants and the walking tree.. we entered into a closet and pretended we were flying. Then we met the witch and all of us were asked to help find the rainbow and each of us has their own magic wand! With the right spell, we were able to find the rainbow and placed our dreams..

And as we wave bye bye to Mr Wonka, each of the kids were handed out a bag of candies:

That’s a  lot of candies! and we’re going to share 3 bags to our readers.. woot! just comment here and tell us what’s your fave Wonka Candy.. and don’t forget to like Make or Break on Facebook and share this post to your friends!

Comment section is open from today until December 9.. I will draw winners on December 12 and will announce the winners here and on the FB page.

EDIT: December 12, 2011

Blackbeard’s Seafood Island

A day after the successful PMC 2nd grand EB, I felt like I was not able to spend that much time with my kumare.. and I though this event is just perfect timing. Turns out, we’re in for a not so nice surprise.. it so happens that the event was cancelled but we did not received an email.. but it was a blessing in disguise because we were able to ask a lot of questions to Seafood Island Eastwood branch manager, Mr. Ting Galdones.. and he was very accommodating.

Blackbeard’s Seafood Island is a part of The Red Crab group. As the name suggests, this one is all about pirate and is one of the pioneer in boodle eating. According to Mr. Ting, it was their branch in Market Market that started it all. Since it is located near a military camp, the idea came from the way military men eats, bare hands and on banana leaf, boodle! And the restaurant offers more than 5 types of boodle feasts. Now, they even offer Boodle-linggit, boodle feast perfect for the kids:

As you can see, BOODLE-LINGGIT has the food that most kid would love.. there’s fried chicken in there, min burgers, hotdod on stick, bbq, popcorn and spaghetti. I’m pretty sure even adults would love this for snack.

Blackbeard’s Seafood Island also offer fresh live seafood such as Lapu Lapu, tilapia, crab and lobster. In almost every branch they have a display area where costumers can choose their seafood. Seafood Island’s Eastwood branch operates 24 hours, catering to the call center industry as well as families who usually went there for lunch or a nice family dinner. Branches in Cubao, Market Market and Technohub offers function rooms for large family gathering or other function.

We were first served with Pinoy Nachos, a very appetizing appetizer of Jimcu (first class lumpia wrapper), adobo flakes, mango cubes, green and red bell pepper and onions drizzlewith adobo sauce and  And it is very pinoy indeed! The bell pepper and onion is a good contrast to the sweet taste of ripe mango cubes. The crisp of the lumpia wrapper is just perfect for the sauce, you have to finish it quickly as it tends to soften though. Blackbeard’s Seafood Island’s Pinoy Nachos serving is good for 3-5 persons at less than 200 PhP.

Then we had a dozen of Cheese Overload Oyster. Makes me wish I had my son with me, he’s the one who’s so into oyster! It’s baked oyster topped with cheese. I am not a cheese fanatic so this one is a bit overwhelming for me. I go for the classic garlic and cheese for my oyster. Blackbeard’s Seafood Island’s Cheese Overload Oyster at 200+ PhP.

Our main dish is Oxtail Kare-Kare.. wow! I can’t remember when I last had Kare-Kare.. and their Kare Kare makes me drool. Though I am not a fan of oxtail, I had my tummy filled with the veggies in dish, puso ng saging to be exact. And the sauce together with their bagoong is a dish already. Oh, I love their bagoong.. not too salty and not too sweet.

I had so much time specially that my date is my kumare.. a friend I had known only on the internet.. and it is only now (err 2nd time actually) that we got to spend some time together… it is just sad that we were not able to try their boodle feast.. would love to see my kumare eating with her bare hands (Peace Willa! haha).. but I know that won’t be practical if we’re the only people who would eat.. so when we met with other PMC members we decided we will have a lunch there second week of December! It would serve as our mini get together/ mini Christmas Party! Oh just imaging what awaits us, my stomach’s grumbling already! I hope we can try out the Tali Beach Boodle feast (Grilled Chicken, Shrimps, Liempo, Tilapia, Squid, Tahong and Crabs, Grilled Tomatoes, Lato, Mangga, Pakwan with Steamed Rice)

Got the photo from Blackbeard’s Seafood Island Facebook Page, like it to see what’s cooking on this little island..

i-Shine at Singing: Promil Pre- School and Center For Pop

I was watching Les Miserables the other day (Thank you so much Olga for this) when I noticed that my 3 year old son is beside me watching it.. later I realized, he enjoyed watching Jesus Christ Superstar (musical) as a baby. Is he musically inclined? does he have a talent on singing? And when I got an invite for i-Shine at Singing: Promil Pre- School and Center For Pop help parents nurture their child’s singing talent event, I went ahead with my 3 year old boy and we also tag Sati along.

Cecile Tamura, Vice President for Parents of the Philippine Association of the Gifted talked about Precocity among musically gifted children. According to her, the pre school age is the stage of development where kids begin to apply what they have learned in their earlier years , with emotional development beginning to partner with their cognitive development.

Weng Lauron, Training of Center for Pop, also finds the pre-school age a good time to nurture a child’s singing talent. “Pre-school age is a good time to start teaching the kids to sing, since at this age we can expect them to do things by themselves. This is a time to learn what they can do individually like brush their teeth without any help, count 1-10 at least and sing songs. Kids at this age are active, they want to move and singing is one activity that involves physical actions.” Weng Lauron said.

Promil Pre school (a powdered milk drink for children 4-7 years) knows how crucial pre-school age is and continue to support parents in the development of their child’s talent through various opportunities that nurtures the child’s talent. i-Shine Talent Camp is one. An event that gave children from all over the country a whole day of singing, dancing and acting workshops.

The kids present during the event was give a chance to participate in a mini singing workshop. Chico and Sati was too shy to join. But Sati sings along as the kids say their meeee.. ahh.. She’s so cute doing vocal exercise! The kids then performed a Christmas carole. Sati although did not joined the carolers, when she heard of picture taking, gladly went to the stage and had a photo opps with the kids:

then gamely posed for the camera:

I think I have a singer model here with me 🙂
