The Motherhood Journey Begins… Hello October!

This month ender post is becoming a hobby!

I have been doing this since last year..remember our Month Ender burger? this year I hope I post a month ender every month 🙂

My June went so fast but it ended with a bang. Spend the end of month with the people I love.. my friends (the Ranchers and Marce Club)!

July was the same, written on my other blog as July ends:

Oh yes! I am claiming August as my month! Same as I did on July.. and you know because of that claim, opportunities came.. lots of it and I was one happy work at home mother.
Imagine, being able to work on my pyjamas is more than enough to make me overwhelm and to say, indeed July has been very nice! And as much as I want July to extend.. August is right around the corner..
So, hello there August.. We will be friends and more than that..we are going to be BFF and you will be as kind as July was to me.
Tasks will be plenty and money will rain. August is mine.

August was awesome! as in! and just before it ends, I got my wish camera! Hello there HTC One X (which I remember I will post something like: when the X becomes the current.. go figure!)

And now September ends.. for past few years, September was never been my favorite month, financially, this month was never good to us.. but this year, oh… I am just thankful.I thank God for giving us September. Thank you Lord.. thank you so much..

When I wrote my month ender post for August, I mentioned how much I want September to end quickly.. I’m waiting for my box of goodies courtesy of DAs and the Fairy Hobmother and it did end so quickly. My excitement is building up every day.

October is a month to look forward to.. it’s my first born’s birth month! The month when I embraced motherhood fully. There is so much to happen.. his 9th birthday on the 24 and so many preparations to do. Also this month, he will be receiving his first communion. Busy and yet exciting month! Happy October everyone!

And as always, I am claiming October as our month!

As long as I can.. I will protect you (the new Johnson’s Baby TVC)

I always believe that every mom is a part time worrier..just like me. We worry about almost anything about our kids and yes we do everything in our power to protect them.. and watching the Johnson’s Baby TVC, I can relate so much with the video’s message.. I feel so much the same.. that as long as I can.. as long as my kids would let me, I will protect them..

Now, excuse me as I sniff and sniff while I write my letter to my kids:

Dear Kuya,
You know, even if always complain of having to do some of your project or that I have to stay awake the whole night, just to complete your school requirements, I never really mind all those. In fact, I am proud and glad that you let me to those things for you. My happiness is in-explainable whenever you express how lucky you are for having the best mom. Kuya, I know most of the time, you don’t need mommy’s help but I am happy to be able to help you and be there for you..

Dear Dico,
Always be patient baby, never let your frustrations rule you. Mommy will always be here to hold you when thing become incontrollable. Mommy will protect you from any harm that you think might happen to you. Baby, I love you no matter what.. no matter what you do, even if say my patience is running out, I will never get tired of holding you..

Dear Chico,
Baby, you never failed to keep my mommy’s sanity on the verge.. your playfulness makes me nervous all the time.. just like today..baby, I love you so much and mommy will do anything beyond my power to protect you and be there for you.. I always feel that it is you who needs my protection the most. Baby, mommy will never give up on you. Mommy is your superhero and that’s a promise.

Dear Sati,
As I always tell you, we are the luckiest for having you.. when you came to our life, you complete our family. You know until now, I cry whenever I remember the day I knew you were a she. And yes honey, because of you being the only girl in the family, expect over protection not just from me but as well as from daddy, kuya, dico and sangko.

Habang kaya ko pa mga anak, sisiguraduhin ko, walang makakasakit sa inyo.

That was quite a letter no…actually, if I can write a letter every night, I would do. Being a mom, I am always full of love, emotion and protection for my kids. And of course I am always thankful for having them and for completing me.

Introducing The Guy To Your Family

A couple of years back a friend of mine met this great guy online. Yes, you heard (or should I say, read) it right. She met him online, a foreigner. She did take note of the importance of online dating safety though. She made sure that this was not a “fake” or “dangerous” guy. She learned to ask the right questions, draw him out so she would know the real him. And as their connection led to courtship and then more, he decided to come and see her in person, meet her family. The challenge then was how would she introduce him to them? What could she (and he) do to make the introductions a bit easier?

One of the things my friend did was to tell him more about our country, our culture. This helped him to understand how things are being done in our country, what is important in our culture. Thankfully, he was more than willing to learn. She referred him to books, websites that helped him know more about our country and culture. This would help him prepare how to relate, interact with her family. On the other hand, my friend also began opening up to her family about her foreigner beau, his life, and his culture. She was really familiarizing them about him so that when they would finally meet, it’s not like they were meeting a total stranger.

Another thing my friend also did was to already include her family in their online chats and calls. She asked the guy first, of course, if he was willing to do this. Thankfully, he was willing. His affirmative answer, of course, was also a clue that he was that sincere in their blossoming relationship. As he and her family had their share of interaction online, her family began to know him and appreciate his efforts to reach out to them before his travel time to the country came. So if you are currently involved with a foreigner boyfriend/fiancé that you may have met through a dating site, you could take these major points from my friend. Share about your culture to your foreigner boyfriend/fiancé. It will help him a lot to connect with your family. And so will introducing him online to your family before his actual arrival in the country. Make those communication bridges even before he comes. This will go a long way towards a better interaction and relationship between this love of your life and your family.
