Diamonds Are Not Forever

.............................................................................................................................................................

And it goes on..

One of the most bizarre thing about he guy is his swollen salivary duct every time he eats food that is mouth watering. Mouth watering in a way that makes you produce more saliva, like the smell of calamansi. A Nilaga or Tinolang Manok would always means a swollen salivary duct after eating. His jaw would swell from the time he smells a mouth watering food, it continue to swell while eating and subsides after 30 minutes. It has been swelling on and off for about 8 years (or more) before he decided it’s time a professional look into it. It’s not a spur of the moment decision. It was more like a last resort, I can’t take the pain any more decision. His jaw has been swelling for days and he can’t eat. He finally gave in when his hunger acted out against him. Just like a child on his first dental visit, I have to walk him in to the hospital and leave Chico behind (who just turned a month old that time).

It turns out that he has stones on his salivary duct. The doctor prescribed a medicine (I forgot the name but it was expensive), and has to be taken twice a day for ten days. According to the Doctor, after some days, he should return tot he hospital so that the stone could be extracted. Intolerable pain prompted him to take the meds religiously. One morning, after a few days of taking the meds, I saw him, so amazed and holding a diamond on his hand. OK not a real diamond, but to him it was more priceless than than. It was the stone from his salivary duct. And to him, up until no, that the most amazing thing that ever happened to him (marrying me not included).
