What Kind Of Parent Are You? Crunchy or Silky?

In my blog hopping activity, I encountered these two words: crunchy and silky. Well, these two words are the big thing when it comes to parenting styles. There are 4 styles of parenting; Authoritarian Parenting, Authoritative Parenting, Permissive Parenting, Uninvolved Parenting and you can read more about it HERE. And based on that link, I would like to believe that my parenting style is Authoritative Parenting:

Like authoritarian parents, those with an authoritative parenting style establish rules and guidelines that their children are expected to follow. However, this parenting style is much more democratic. Authoritative parents are responsive to their children and willing to listen to questions. When children fail to meet the expectations, these parents are more nurturing and forgiving rather than punishing. Baumrind suggests that these parents “monitor and impart clear standards for their children’s conduct. They are assertive, but not intrusive and restrictive. Their disciplinary methods are supportive, rather than punitive. They want their children to be assertive as well as socially responsible, and self-regulated as well as cooperative” (1991).

So where does being a crunchy or silky parent falls? Er, honestly, I have no idea! Well, based on this QUIZ, I am 70% silky, does it make make me a better mom? or a bad mom?

And still based on that quiz  and this one, here’s my conclusion on what crunchy and silky parenting are:

Crunchy Vs Silky

I am a little crunchy because I breastfed my kids, actually still breastfeeding my youngest. We co-sleep and I baby wear. I think the result is very accurate, yes, I am more of a silky mom. I can’t leave the house without makeup! hahaha and I can’t live without disposable diapers. Another thing, I can’t live without contraceptives, because if I don’t use one, I’ll end having more kids than I can handle. We’re too compatible that even a touch from husband will make me pregnant! wahaha In all honesty, I do have high respect for people who were able to maintain being crunchy, that takes a lot time! And I have high respect for people who are silky mom like me. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter at all, crunchy and silky are just labels. In the end, it’s all about you and how happy and contented you are as a mom, of course happiness and contentment of your kids follows.

But I know, it’s fun to see what kind of mom you are no? So go ahead take the quiz but never let that label define you 🙂 Crunchy or Silky, I am sure, for your kids, you’re the BEST MOM in the world. Cheers to us all moms!

Breeze Sige Sabado Movement

I don’t usually bring my kids to events (dati oo since I have to helpers that I can tag along).. spell HASSLE! You know naman I have no full time yaya/helper and I don’t expect my part timer to come with us to attend events.. it’s kinda hard to bring all four of them.. ang hirap mag cover pag kasama sila!

But I am glad I brought them at Sige Sabado event last Saturday. Ang bongga ng activities na hinanda ng Breeze for the kids, I was able to cover the event and make chika chika with my blogger friends and with my favorite celebrity, Miss Christine Babao:

And she included me on her photo coverage of the event 🙂 aliw lang>>fan mode haha

What is Sige Sabado Movement?

Breeze strongly believes that life’s lesson are best learned through experience, that is why Breeze encourages moms to adopt the Sige sa Manta philosophy. That is allowing the kids to play and learn even at the expense of getting dirty and stained.

To further forward the advocacy of child learning and development, Breeze launched the Sige Sabado Movement. It’s a call for moms to dedicate Sabados with their kids. A day of learning, playing and having fun and yes, getting stained. Doing arts and crafts is one of our favorite activities but sometimes, I run out of ideas to do! I found out that I am not alone in this. In a recent survey conducted by Breeze, they found out that Moms want to do activities with their kids, at gaya ko, ubos din ang kanilang ideas!

Sige Sabado Facebook App

That is why Breeze created the Sige Sabado Habit, check out Breeze’s website (and Facebook Page) and download Sige Sabado How To Sheet.

Capture and share your Sabado bonding moments and share it through Sige Sabada Facebook App and get a chance to win Breeze gift pack and the Sige Sabado Playbox weekly. Grand prize winners will win a trip to Legoland Malaysia.

Breeze Sige Sabado Playbox was introduced to us (media) guest moms and Circle of Sige Moms during the event. The playbox is filled with materials and instructions for making harlequin mask, dinosaur egg bath soaps, choco art, raise a monggo plant, animal balloon paper mache, popsicle stick pen holder and DIY slime.

Teka, sino sino naman ang Circle of Sige Mom?

Circle of Sige Moms

As a highlight of the Sige Sabado event, the Circle of Sige Moms were introduced. The circle includes celebrity moms Barbie Almalbis- Honasa, Christine Bersola- Babao, Dimples Romana, Gladys Reyes, Nikki Waldez and Carmina Villaroel- Legazpi. Sige Mom Circle is a group of empowered moms untied in their commitment to take charge of their kids’ learning and memories.

The event was hosted by Suzi Entrata-Abrera and we caught them doing some selfie! haha

You can tell from this photo that the Circle of Sige Moms sure know what fun is all about 🙂

Also during the event, Circle of Sige Moms together with the media guests, made a Sige Sabado promise:

American Plastic Toys Girls Cookin’ Kitchen And Deluxe Work Bench

I bought these two lovelies from Walmart a few months ago and last Saturday, 2 boxes of LBC was delivered to us. You wouldn’t believe how my friend (Sati’s godmother) placed all the items in the box. She really is the queen of all packing! Here are the parts of the said toys:

And here’s the finished product after an hour of assembling:

American Plastic Toys Girls Cookin’ Kitchen $40.00
American Plastic Toys Deluxe Work Bench $49.99

I am really glad that these two toys looked exactly the same as it is on Walmart (photos from Walmart):

This is not our first American Plastic Toys, our first was a small kitchen (you can read about it here). Obviously, I love these brand, why? Because it is really cheap and very easy to assemble, not to mention durable! Soon, I will buy the American Plastic Toys My Very Own Shop N’ Pay Market ($19.87) and American Plastic Toys My Very Own Grill ($19.99). Yes, I am a fan! haha

Yes, the toy is really durable, our first one is turning 2 this year and it looks as if I just bought it last week.

As you have seen from the first two photos, there are so many parts. You might be wondering how on earth I managed to set it up just like that. Oh well, Black&Decker helped me a lot (every mom’s must have! haha). And as I have mentioned, American Plastic Toys are easy to assemble. It comes with a very detailed instruction sheet and the parts are labelled neatly:

I am really amazed how American Plastic Toys were able to come up with their toys, I mean, it is really unbelievable how they came up with the parts and how it will look like when assembled. You have to own one American Plastic Toys to really appreciate the craftsmanship behind these toys.

My kids loved the toys, specially, because both has drawers where they can put their smaller toys. American Plastic Toys Deluxe Work Bench also come with some tools such as hammer, automatic screw driver (which they now call decker, an ode to my B&D automatic screw driver haha), some screws, a cellphone (toy cellphone) and a lot more (which I do not know what it’s called). American Plastic Toys Girls Cookin’ Kitchen comes with kitchen accessories (pots and the liked) and also comes with a plastic phone! COOL!
