Oyster Anyone?

Are you looking for a place to dine out? We are not allowed to eat meat now. Do you have any idea why? Whatever, that is not this post is all about. I want Oysters! Last March, as we celebrate our wedding anniversary, we ate at Oyster Boy in Metrowalk. The kids liked it there. They never find the place boring, unlike some restaurants we have been. Aside from that, the staffs are all friendly. The food? the oysters? mixed emotions..LOL

Here are the four oyster dish that we have tasted in Oyster Boy:

Rockefeller or rockefellar.. I forgot the name because we only ordered it once. The oyster is grilled with mozzarella cheese top and some other ingredients. If you are there to drink, this one is a must pulutan. It goes very well with beer.

Grilled Oyster with Garlic and Cheese. If you are a first time eater of oyster, this one is the safest choice. The combination of garlic and cheese on top of grilled oysters is so delicious. The dish is undeniably mouth watering, but after the third time you ordered it, its magic is gone. So I guess if you ordered it in your first visit, don’t order it on your next.

Thai Oyster. Ah, this one is now my favorite! Just imagine sweet and sour, just like that, put some spice, and make it oyster. YUM! The oyster is breaded and fried, drizzled on top is sweet and sour and spicy sauce. YUM..uh oh so much yum for this one.
Aligi Oyster. Aligi is crab fat. My hubby ordered this one, and he did no liked it. I have a different view on it. If you have never tasted aligi before, the taste is overpowering. Now if you liked aligi, this menu is a must. The dish makes me dizzy because of the aligi, aside from that, I like it. It is tastier each and every bite. If you have a weak stomach like me, I suggest you eat only three. And don’t eat oyster when your stomach is empty.

Other than oyster, they have a lot other and equally delicious menu. One of our favorite is their halaan soup and crispy liempo. If you are asking for food pics, sorry guys, I forgot to take some before devouring it.LOL

What Is Your Favorite Halo Halo?

As promised I would write about my favorite Halo Halo. Actually it is not my favorite but hubby’s. According to Kayil, in a particular branch, we have eaten there thrice. In Robinson’s branch, countless. Have a clue on what kind of Halo Halo I am talking about? That’s Razon’s halo halo I am talking about. Since hubby tasted it, he was kinda addicted to it. Why not? It really is delicious. Aside from that, the ingredients are simple. Can you imagine halo halo with only banana and macapuno in it? Oh yes you can, because that is the halo halo Razon’s is serving. Then there’s the ice. The ice in Razon’s Halo halo is amazing. It has an almost smooth texture and a different taste. The sweetness of the whole mixture is just right too. It won’t leave you begging for a glass of water. If there is one place that hubby wants to go right now, that would be in Gagua, the place where Razon’s originated. He just can’t get enough of it.

If you are still unaware of Razon’s, here are some places where you can find them:
Razon’s in Greenhills
Razon’s in Sta Rosa
Razon’s in Cubao
Razon’s in Robinson’s Galeria

Just be careful though, I have heard there has been a lot of imitations going on. The Razon’s that we liked most is the one that says Razon’s of Gagua.

Simplicity aside, my kids also love the halo halo in Max’s. The serving is balanced, not too much ice, not to much ingredients. if only they wold stop using carabao’s milk on their halo halo. I did not like the after taste the milk gives. For a mouth watering halo halo, have you tried Chowking’s halo halo. From the photos it really is mouth watering. The ingredients look really tasty and the glass looks like a real feast, Upon tasting it, you would wish, you ordered water instead, that’s why mouth watering.LOL

As for me, nothing beats home made halo halo. Fruit of my labor, from ice to the every last drop of its ingredients. Cooked by my bare hand, from lanka, to ube to leche flan (except the milk of course). The hard works of crushing the ice.. hehe..what more, you can choose what ever or how much ingredients you want.. beat this:

Summer And Food

Summer.Heat.Beach. FOOD

If there is one thing in summer that I really like, that is the FOOD. I just can’t get enough of summer foods. Tropical fruits are abundant during this seasons, The fruit is on their cheapest and sweetest state. How can you maintain a bathing suit friendly figure with all the foods available during this time? LOL

Mangoes. Mangoes is at its sweetest during summer. It is cheaper too. Ripe Mangoes paired with grilled fish and steaming hot rice, somewhere along the beach.. ahh that is just perfect no. Or how about green mangoes and shrimp paste? Just thinking about it now, I am salivating.. I want some now.. LOL

I also like watermelon, love it specially when eaten with soup based foods. Love the redness of it yay! But hey, have you seen yellow watermelon? I have tasted some, but I still prefer the red one. There’s a vendor somewhere in Tarlac that sells yellow watermelon, I will post a pic next week.

Then there’s melon, I specially like it in juice. Whenever I bought melon, I always make a juice out of it. One of the best drink during summer. Are hungry now?LOL

Hey I am not even half of it.. LOL How about Halo Halo? For my English readers, Halo Halo is a dessert here in the Philippines. It is composed of different sweets. Sweetened banana, sweetened jack fruit, taro jam, filled with ice and milk. It is a must eat during summer time. Almost every block here, there is a halo halo vendor you can find. Guys, where is your favorite halo halo? As for me, I will post it next time.

OK I will stop here, I am just teasing, and hoping I could ruin your diet, because mine is so ruined.
