Natural and Healthy? Check The Label Mommies!

The new normal. How many of you have already adjusted to this thing we called the new normal? What are the things you have changed so far? I know there are many changes that is happening around us, some things that we never imagined will happen, but is already happening. As parents, as moms, the responsibility to adjust for the family is relied heavily on us. And it can be really overwhelming and can be stressful, but we will be dealing with it none the less. Tayo pa ba? Ang mga nanay walang sinusukuan yan.

Talking about dealing with it, I guess one of our biggest concerns is the health of our family. I am telling you, your concern is valid and you are not alone. Each every mom have been looking for ways to make their family healthier and with better immunity. It is in our nature to find ways, to ask around what else can we do to make our family health. Kumbaga mas naging health conscious na tayo ngayon.

Kayo ba, what are the changes that you’re doing to ensure that your family is healthy? Alam nyo kame, we have been exercising more, doing more physical activities than ever. We’re alaso trying to take advantage of the health benefits of morning sun exposure. The kids are also more involve with household chores. That’s hitting two birds in one stone! Mas nagiging responsable na sila, may physical activity pa.

Of course we also change a few in our diet. More fruits and veggies please! We really have to wise with our spending di ba? We have to spend our hard earned money wisely and in a more practical way. Lagi ko nga sinasabi sa mga bata, kesa ibili mo ng pagkain that may or will cause you more harm that good, just buy something natural and nutritious.

And that is how we are coping so far! Our buying attitude now lean towards providing the best, and the most nutritious for our family. We understand the importance of fruit in our diet and we buy these to keep our kids healthy. And because we are more conscious with what we buy, we highly rely on the nutritional facts and ingredients list that are indicated on the back label. Pero alam nyo ba some food manufacturers use misleading tricks to convince people to buy highly processed and unhealthy products. Ano daw? Kahit ako nagulat din ng nalaman ko. When it comes to our fruit juices, I also check the ingredients to make sure that it has the freshest ingredients, always check the back label!

I learned that lesson sometime ago. Like most of you, I really believe that aside from water, the next best drink is fruit juices. So for my school kids, I always buy fruit juices in tetra pack in boxes! I have this thinking that what I a giving them as baon for school was healthy. Mali pala when I started reading the label. I’m just actually giving them sugar in a tetrapack. So imagine my surprise eh may 5 box pa ng fruit juice sa pantry.

This is why I am sharing this to you, para hindi na kayo magkamali. Here’s my guiding principle when checking the ingredients of products that claim to be healthy and natural:

  1. Check the first 5 ingredients. Usually the first 5 ingredients make up the largest part of the food component.
  2. If an ingredients list is longer than two to three lines suggests that the product is highly processed. Pag mahaba, magduda ka na.
  3. If an ingredient is hard to pronounce, it might not be good for you

Alam mo mabilis lang naman mag check ng label and investigate. If the product claims to be natural and healthy, double check the back label before buying it. Are you ready to check the back label? Monstera deliciosa Price Philippines

They dubbed this plant as plant of the celebrity. It’s one of the few indoor plants that has a shocking tag price on it. Monstera deliciosa Price Philippines, why is it expensive? There are so many reasons why Monstera deliciosa is very expensive in the Philippines. One of this is because so many people are looking for it or wants to have one. Another reason is, it’s not easy to grow, specially if you are looking for the matured ones or the big ones. There is also no nursery here of this plant so most available Monstera deliciosa are harvested from the mountains or imported.

Monstera deliciosa Price Philippines

There are many factors considered when we talk about Monstera deliciosa Price Philippines. Here are some of the things that are factored in when pricing a Monstera:

Monstera deliciosa size.

There are baby Monstera which are basically seedlings. This is usually 4-6 inches in height with 3 small leaves with no holes. The price of M. deliciosa seedlings ranges from 500 Pesos to 900 Pesos. These are plants from Monstera deliciosa seeds.

Monstera deliciosa Price Philippines

There are medium Monstera deliciosa. Often, these are the borsigiana Monstera. It is also a Monstera deliciosa but a different form. The leaves are usually smaller and has less holes. There is also a difference how the stem are formed. The usual size o theleaves of Monstera deliciosa f borsigiana is 12 inches. The price of this type of M. deliciosa is usually 2000 Pesos and up, depending on the number of leaves and type of pot where it is potted.

Extra large Monstera deliciosa is the most expensive when it comes to size. The leaves of this one has a beautiful holes formation and if you count the veins after the stalk, usually each side is 10-12 big veins. The size of the extra large Monstera deliciosa is 24 inches and up. The price of extra large ranges from 3000 Pesos and up. The price varies by the number of leaves and the root system. Cheaper ones are those that are freshly cut from the mother plant and roots are not yet established.

Monstera deliciosa variation

Another factor that can make this plant really expensive is the variation. The most expensive variation are those with constellation. It’s like there are stars on each leaf of the plant that it is called Monstera deliciosa Thai constellation. This kind of monstera are usually sold at 5,000 Pesos and up.

Monstera deliciosa fenestration.

Monstera deliciosa is also called “philo leaves with holes” because of the holes on each leaves, but please note that this is not part of the Philodendron group.

Those holes are formed naturally and the process is called fenestration. A Monstera deliciosa with more fenestration are more gorgeous and sometimes more expensive.

The best place to look for Monstera deliciosa is through FB groups of plants enthusiast. I got my 2 Monstera deliciosa from these FB groups:

Monstera deliciosa extra large from (3500 and up) https://www.instagram.com/foliage.ol.ph/

Other Monstera Plants and plants similar plants

If you think Monstera deliciosa is really expensive, you can opt for its sister plant which is quite popular too.

This is a Monstera adansonii or swiss cheese plant. It’s not as big as Monstera deliciosa and also not as expensive. It also has holes on its leaves, although not as much. The price of Monstera adansonii ranges from 300 and up, depending on how big the plant is. I got mine from Halamanan sa Pasig for 350 pesos only (pot not included).

Other plants that are similar but are not part of the Monstera group is Epipremnum pinnatum or commonly known as Tibatib. Rhaphidophora tetrasperma also closely resembles a Monstera deliciosa. Philodendron bipinnatifidum or seollum is also a nice indoor plant but not as expensive.

Monstera deliciosa care and Monstera adansonii care

Monstera are tropical plants. This type of plants usually grow inside the forest, climbing a big tree. They do not like water that much as their stems are already full of water. They also do not like direct sunlight as the leaves will burn. Watering is once a week to 10 days, depending if the top soil is already dry, 2 inches deep. The best way to water this is to put water on the sides of the pot and not on the part where the plant is planted. As much as possible avoid watering the stems are. You can spray the leaves 2x a week with a solution to keep it shiny and free from infection. The solution I use is 1 L of water to 3-5 drops of dishwashing liquid, to 3-5 drops of oregano essential oil or thieves essential oil or 1 spoon of neem oil.

How to Use Downy Hypoallergenic for Automatic and Semi Automatic Washing Machine

How to Use Downy Hypoallergenic for Automatic Washing Machine? and how about Semi Automatic Washing Machine?

I never thought I will ever have this kind of problem in life.. not until my mom prompted me to buy a semi automatic washing machine. The idea behind buying a semi automatic washing machine is to teach the kids how to do the laundry without being intimidated by our big automatic washing machine.

Related topic: Downy Hypoallergenic Review

We have been using an 11 kg washing machine and my mother thinks it is a bit big for the kids. They say mothers know best, kaya sundin si mother.

So first, let me give you a quick talk about semi automatic washing machine vs automatic washing machine and their main difference.

With semi, you don’t do the washing but you need to operate it step by step. So it’s like someone is doing it for you but you’re guiding them. That’s why it’s called semi automatic.

Automatic washing machine on the hand, when it’s done, all you need to do is dry it or in some washing machine that has a built in dryer, you just have to fold it.

Sweet no? So when and how do you put Downy Hypoallergenic? And why use Downy Hypoallergenic for automatic washing machine?

Siguro iniisip nyo pang baby lang naman ang Downy Hypoallergenic, and it is easier to wash baby clothes on smaller washing machine o kaya hand wash, why use it sa automatic washing machine? Because you can also use Downy Hypoallergenic on your beddings, on your clothes, and towels. Downy Hypoallergenic is dermatologically tested with 0% dyes and 0% din ang added preservatives. Safe to use sa kahit anong damit. And we wash our towels sa automatic washing machine.

How to use it with automatic washing machine? Most automatic washing machine has a fabric conditioner dispenser. You put the Downy Hypoallergenic at the dispenser before starting a cycle. The washing machine is programmed to release the fabric conditioner during rinse time.

For semi automatic washing machine, we put Downy Hypoallergenic during the last rinse cycle. For better effect, spin dry the clothes first while putting water into the tub, pour the required amount of Downy Hypoallergenic (please read the back package for instruction). Start the washing machine and put the clothes back for the last rinse.

Based on our experience Downy Hypoallergenic works well in both washing machine. You just have to read and follow the instruction from the back.

Downy Hypoallergenic is now available in leading supermarkets but with our current situation now, we’re our buying ours from Downy Official Online store in Lazada: Downy Hypoallergenic Official Store

Downy Hypoallergenic comes in 5 sizes (23 ml, 36 ml, 690 ml, 1380 ml, and 800 ml). I recommend you buying the 800ml bottle then just buy the 1380 ml refill the next time you need it. The bottle cap is very useful when measuring how much Downy Hypoallergenic you need to put in your laundry.
